Needed air conditioner repaired. Something has happened to Grant. We have used this company for over eight years. It hasn't been immediate. But gradually, their service has deteriorated to terrible. Technician came out twice over the course of two weeks to fix problem. Each time he said it was something different and each time charged for the same problem. Which was never properly repaired. This same thing happened last year on a different unit and they made a small adjustment to the bill. This time, called twice to ask to speak to owner. Never received a call back. Found another company who came out the same day. Fixed the problem and charged a fraction of Grant's inflated invoice. read more

Per many telephone discussions with Manager Dale Kinson regarding a wrong diagnosis of my outside air conditioning unit: ** NO MORE DEFENSIVE BEHAVIOR. MAIL $100.00 CASH AND AN APOLOGY LETTER BY NOVEMBER 21, 2025. ** 'Bo', a service tech using a nickname, did all the work. He did his tests. He changed out my capacitor. He said that change failed. Bo then disconnected a yellow wire. Then, on touching a screwdriver somewhere in the unit, Bo caused a loud buzzing sound. Bo then said, 'this is bad'. Unknown at the time, he left the yellow wire disconnected which blew the fan motor, not the compressor. Bo did not advise me as such. This caused further problems that someone else had to resolve. Bo then gave an incorrect diagnosis for a new compressor for the outside unit. He then went into my attic for further details. He eventually stated that the entire system is old and bad and all needs to be renewed. On 05/12/2025, a quote followed in the mail for some $7000.00. On 05/30/2025, a bill with INV 43659050925 followed in the mail. A bill for '1 unit' was charging me for another $100. At that point it showed 1-30 days past due. The billing office went 'for the kill' trying to get another $100 out of me! A phone call to their office took a substantial amount of time to get reversed. Written confirmation of the reversal was requested but never received. On 06/04/2025, on a telephone conversation with Mr. Kinson, he initially seemed to listen to my concerns. Reviewed his second billing error for $100.00. Reviewed the tech errors. Mr. Kinson said he would call back after talking to his service man 'Bo' regarding service issues. No follow up call was received. On my follow up, Mr. Kinson repeatedly stated you have an old A/C system. It needs to go. Reviewed the 05/12/2025 quote for a new system $7000.00 or compressor fix for $3000.00. This confirms business profit is his priority. The 05/12 quote did not include the $550.00 Mr. Kinson had negatively predicted for his techs INTENTIONAL future failure of the attic stairs IF they were to break during the installation. Reviewed that the compressor was not the problem with the unit and another tech entity fixed the unit properly. This other entity had seen the yellow wire issue. Mr. Kinson demanded pictures/parts or whatever, to be sent to him OR at him showing up to my home. I clearly stated to him, NO TRESPASSING. He and his staff are NEVER allowed on the premises, whether I am the homeowner or not. Mr. Kinson was sarcastic with a smile through the calls. He was patient to stay on the phone until his defensiveness ended, thus he disconnected the calls. Mr. Kinson and his staff can not take ownership and when they find things difficult. They are allowed to disconnect/hang up on someone as well. NO MORE DEFENSIVE BEHAVIOR. MAIL $100.00 CASH AND AN APOLOGY LETTER BY NOVEMBER 21, 2025. Our Carrier HVAC unit is only 2.5 years old. Last Friday evening it started blowing hot air and the house was heating up fast. We are currently in the middle of 100+ degree days this summer (2022). Thinking the equipment might still be under full warranty, I called the installer's emergency repair request number that evening and left a message. By morning we had not received any response, so I left two more messages and an email to no avail. (Now a week and a half later we still haven't heard from them.) Knowing it was going to be a really hot weekend, I looked online and found that Grant AC is authorized for Carrier sales and service, they are locally owned, have great reviews and a BBB rating of A+. I called Saturday morning and left a message at 9:15. Within 15 minutes their on-call tech, Richard, responded. I described the symptoms and he said it was probably a run capacitor and he had one on his truck. Richard arrived in about 30 minutes and had the repair made in no time. Within minutes, the house was cooling down and we were able to enjoy our weekend at home. The part was covered under warranty. We considered Grant's emergency service charge to be very fair. Later, we found out the installer's non-emergency service charge would have been about $60 more. Without a doubt, we will be using Grant for all of our future needs. Your company has come by all of your 5 star reviews and your BBB A+ rating honestly. Thank you for your great service. We couldn't be any happier with our service technician, Richard. Jason came to the appointment this morning not wearing a mask. I asked if he had one and he said it was in the truck. I asked if he would get it and it seemed to really irritate him. My mother is elderly and immunocompromised. Apparently he's used to going from customer to customer all day not wearing a mask. He came back with an attitude and was extremely condescending to my mother (it's her home), impatiently talking down to her like she was stupid. I bit my tongue to keep from telling him off so as not to upset her. It should be noted that she has used Grant for YEARS for twice a year service and a new install in 2013, so thousands of dollars spent. The problem with the unit was explained very thoroughly to Jason and after looking at the inside and outside equipment he said he couldn't find anything wrong. Later that afternoon the problem started again. Another appointment has been made to have it looked at again and we requested an older more experienced technician. My mother indicates the older more experienced technicians are very knowledgeable and polite. I was shocked Jason talked that way to a customer, especially someone who is elderly. If you get him as your technician, consider recording your conversation. My impression of him is that he's lazy and doesn't want to put in the time to find out what's wrong. Update: Spoke with the owner, Dale, who indicated he discussed with Jason the proper way to treat customers. An older, more experienced technician identified during the follow up service call a possible issue with the AC. The problem is being monitored for any recurrence. read more

I was pleased when I called for Heating service, and was told a Tech could come first thing in the morning. I was not pleased as I watched the Tech sit in his truck for 10 minutes before coming to my door. He was friendly and polite, but would I be charged for this waste of time in his truck? Yes, I was. The issue (a loose wire) was simple to repair, but I was charged for an hour of service ($134). Tech wanted to go back to my attic to write down the serial number of the unit, which I already had, and I discouraged because I did not want to be charged even more time. A repair that should have taken a half hour (service call $89) was dragged out by dawdling to an hour charge ($134). I will not give glowing reviews on my neighborhood website because of this. I am a loyal customer of Grant now for a few years. I have two units in my house of almost 20 years old each and Grant always come thru with the right repairs as these units components are starting to fail big time. The technicians are always knowledgeable and willing to explain in "common people's language' what are the problems and solutions.
