Finding a new dentist after moving to Tennessee was going to be a chore so I poured over patient reviews and cross-referenced those with who was on my provider list. When I read reviews that person after person sounded like me with their reservations about going to the dentist and then they all RAVED about Dr. Leatherwood, I said, "He's GOT to be the guy!" So...for a difficult extraction of a large molar with extra long roots, I can honestly say that on a scale of 1-100, at its worst, any pain I had during the procedure was about a 2. And, it was over WAY faster than I figured it would be and I am THRILLED. I know I will be sore for a bit, but the roaring pain when the tooth was at its worst makes this pain feel WAY tolerable. If anyone in Jefferson or Hamblen County, TN (or any other county for that matter) needs a great dentist, I highly recommend Dr. David Leatherwood in Morristown.

Rhonda would not allow me to make an appointment because I missed 2 appointments in 2018 and had a balance. I was unaware of the balance and wanted to at least pay it off. It was $3.40. She knew I was in pain and knows it will only get worse but because I couldn't leave work in time 8 years ago and owed $3.40 I couldn't get an appointment. This is not patient care. This is patient neglect.

One thing I can appreciate is quality artistry, I find Dr. Johnson and his staff not only excellent with communication, yet they are conservative, they Actually want to preserve your teeth. ...this is the place you want to be,... And so I really appreciate that... I found out about it because my wife is a sissy and on top of that she's blonde and I understand blondies have maybe more nerve endings ‍ She is super sensitive, pain adverse,....she cannot have a dentist in any way shape or form that does not recognize her sensitivity, and so that's the reason we are now with Elite dental. In September of 2022 I paid around $3400 to have all my teeth extracted and dentures. On October…read more7th, 2022, I had 17 teeth extracted by them. The practice does same day dentures, and you go every 6-8 weeks to have them refit for a year. After the year, you receive your full set of permanent dentures. I made the first several visits, and then was told that I would need to have new impressions made. I made an appointment for that, then canceled due to anxiety. When I called to reschedule, the office had closed permanantly. I never received any notification that this would be happening. After about 10 months, I happened to find out that the office had reopened. I contacted them to make an appointment, but due to over scheduling, they had to change my appointment. I was unable to keep that appointment, and rescheduled again for August 14th of this year. The day before the appointment, I received a text message from the dental office stating that they had been trying to verify my insurance. I let them know that I had prepaid for everything. They informed me that they were under new ownership and I would need to either use insurance, or I could apply with them for financial assistance. I will add that the previous staff was amazing and did a great job with helping to ease my anxiety. I don't know if the previous staff was retained when the office reopened, so I can't say anything about the staff now. But based on their handling of my situation, I would not recommend their service.

I very briefly met the dentist and he seemed pretty cool, so get a extra star for that…read more I had been in pain for months and have always had issues with my back tooth and had 2-3 root canals on it and it was causing me a lot of pain. I got there at 1015 for 1030 appt. At 11am I asked how far behind it is she said, "They should be taking you in soon its only 10:40. I said its 11am, my appointment was 10:30. Your clock is wrong" At 11:08 went back for xrays. They sat me down and said that they had seven extractions to do so it's gonna be a while before they can get to me. I asked if it was going to be a few minutes or closer half an hour? They said maybe it might be longer. So I said I'll come back another day because I have another appointment at noon in Morristown. Sunday night my back tooth that had bene bothering me; the top part of it actually came off causing me more pain from being exposed. I called and left a message expecting a call back Monday morning to see if they could see me before 2pm to have a emergency extraction because there was no way to save this tooth. I didnt get a call back so I called again and they said they would contact my insurance to get it done. still no response. So since I didnt hear anything, I went to my 2pm appointment, Nothing was sent to my insurance yet. The dentist said that there's no saving my tooth because it was cracked at the root and that's what was causing me so much pain is my gums we're actually growing into my tooth. So I'm going back-and-forth between them in the VA because they didn't put emergency extraction needs to be done ASAP. So I tell them that needs to be put in so I can get this tooth out I'm in a lot of pain. I kept calling the VA to put it in to get this tooth pulled, but Hurleys office didn't put in for emergency extraction, just regular. So the VA gets it approved within a couple hours and this place says they're gonna schedule me out in two weeks. I said are you kidding me I'm in a lot of pain I can't wait two weeks for this to come out it's been causing me issues for two months. I had asked the lady at the front if they could send in some pain medication and please call me and let me know when she calls it in. She never gave me a call back. Front people need better training and reliability.

He determined the cause of my pain, and gave me antibiotics to begin treatment right away. He had the girls in the office call me on Monday morning to see me that very same day. He took X-rays again And determined that I needed to see a specialist. His office staff sent my referral in for me. I will continue to see Dr Hurley in the future.
