Melanie is very skilled at understanding and starting work with her clients based on their emotinal needs and working at the client's pace. I am a true example of this....it took me a long time to get to where I needed to be but Melanie did not get frustrated or pushy. She supported me as I worked through issues at my own pace. Although the thought of going to therapy can be scary, it is honestly the best thing I have ever done for myself and I am so thankful for all of the guidance and support Melanie has given me. She truly is a talented, kind, and compassinate person who wants to help her clients reach their emotional goals. Three days later we were surprised with the placement of an infant that we fostered until he was 3 years old when we were able to adopt him. Manessa was very helpful in helping us to be successful with this adoption, as well. We appreciate all the staff that have helped us through the years, one way or another. We continue to foster, but we are so grateful to them for helping us meet our forever family.

When I say family orientated makes me so proud to have joined this family to utilize my CNA skills. yes, there are staff challenges at times, but we work together for the best care for our residents. The activities department make sure that the residents are kept updated with the outside world meaning (fashion shows, celebrating All holidays, jazz bands, and even more (let's just say there's never a dull moment. Our Wound care Nurse is awesome when I say blessed hands (wound treatments are done with loving /care. I like that our DON and ADON has monthly meetings to either update the staff on changes or even let us voice our opinions on certain things and accept suggestions. No one's position is too high to work on the weekend or after hours. Awesome dietary staff that makes sure residents has food they were used to eating while at home. Maintenance is always in work mood even when their shift is ending. Let me not forget about our Social Workers who works after hours to greet new residents and to make sure things are done in their best interest. (Great patient advocates). The supervisors on pm shift are awesome ALWAYs making sure that they are available for any HELP that is needed. When the question is asked, yes if my parents were alive would I place them at Lahser Hills. Great Job Team! I love y'all.

They have weekly classes and get-togethers, as well as pop-up events, all the with aim of providing space and connection for parents. During my little's first three months, I attended their Mama Circles and their breastfeeding support group. Both of these groups were super supportive and non-judgmental, and allowed me, a first-time parent, to ask all the little questions that I had about raising a human. Plus, they usually had great snacks at these groups. Now, as my little is over a year old (cue sobs), I get to utilize their new space in a different way: fun classes! We've checked out their Bilingual Storytime and Rhythm/Motion classes; both classes were thoughtfully executed and engaging. Parenting is hard, and googling stuff on the interwebs just isn't the same as having a good conversation with a fellow parent who is going through the same ish that you are. I have been seeing Alex for a few years for EMDR for complex trauma. We were tackling issues that…read morehave been entrenched for decades despite lots of past therapy. I feel in her a kindred spirit and she has had great empathy for my experience. I was surprised we didn't do a lot of actual eye movement but we did do a lot of what she calls resourcing which is basically using cognitive restructuring to build the resiliency framework necessary to do the harder work. She kept telling me to hang in there and trust the process. All I can say is, what we have been doing, has been effective beyond my wildest imaginings. I am so much more resilient and confident in my ability to handle challenges than I used to be. I was able to move from therapy into a serious Zen practice that has deepened my understanding of all the mind-body awareness things she has talked about over the years. Some issues I thought I would be living with for the rest of my life seem to have vanished. I don't even need weekly therapy anymore. It's true she does cancel a lot but my schedule has always been pretty flexible and she's always been willing to accommodate things that come up for me. When my son was diagnosed with a disability she was also able to pivot the focus of therapy and provide that support until I found another specialist in that area. She has a very flexible and receptive approach to therapy that works very well for me. I would recommend her to anyone with complex trauma as well as mothers of young children - she gets it!

Which is where we seem to be headed, without seeing a single bill. Keep in mind, therapy was March - June. I'm happy to report my partner is seeing a wonderful, caring, compassionate therapist now. One who actually shows up. Ironically, this therapist knew Alex. How? From the onslaught of patients that leave her neglectful practice to seek therapy elsewhere.

The instructors are friendly and the space is peaceful and calm, even being right on Woodward. So far I have tried gentle hatha (was my first time practicing hatha but Maura made it so approachable) and their restorative class, both of which made me feel rejuvenated. I have had physical therapy before and I have never had a therapist/technician working with two clients at one time. That may be the norm now, but it certainly wasn't in the past and that is the experience you will have at this facility. The intake room was private and quiet, but the physical therapy that goes on in the main part of the facility is open to everyone and rather small. I wouldn't have a problem with that if the staff were attentive to their clients rather than socializing with each other, but that was not the case. The targeted exercises, availability at this facility, and the Limber app were all great. Unfortunately, the overall experience was too loud and distracting for me to consider using them long-term.

I've been treated at various PT practices over the years, and Advanced Physical Therapy is the best. It's small, comfortable, and well-staffed. Another tip: Don't trust your body to untrained amateurs. I made that mistake at Stretch Lab, and I suffered for a week.
