The front office staff is accessible, reasonable and open to new ideas. And to top it all off...the other slip owners are very friendly. There has been times when the spring rains flood the lake. The slips are floating slips, so your boats are safe. And, the staff find a way to to get you to your boat slip, even if the parking lots are covered in water!! The…read morepark attendant was helpful in telling us about the facility (boat launch, beach, camping facilities etc. we arrived around 8pm to check the boat out after doing some maintenance but still wanted to go on the lake for a couple of hours. with all the recent flooding they will have to repair the courtesy dock but fortunately the beach is not rocky so you can beach your boat there until the dock is finished. We did not go to the fishing pier but want to check it out soon. I did talk to a lady on the phone there and she was helpful in telling us the amenities.

However, having always had something special going for it,the north Texas growth has breathed new life into this 10 square mile area formerly " historic" McKinney. This little lake created by forward thinking city planners is more and more a community gathering point. Just to the west is a full blown Frisbee golf course, hiking/biking trails and more. Very well maintained park , nice concrete pathway for walking & jogging. Saw many people who came early morning for fishing. A guy passing by said he used live minnow the other day, and that's what they like, so maybe we'll try that soon. They do sell bait and minnow here. It was $3.49 for a dozen live minnow and $6.49 for a bag of frozen shad. $8 per person. $1 per additional rod. Bathrooms are pretty clean. The fishing barge is located at the end of the pier. Enter through the main store. There's an inside fishing area in the barge with a rectangular hole where you drop your line in. I didn't go there because there are people in there smoking up a storm. We fished outside at the end of the barge facing the lake. Be careful if you choose this spot because you can get your line snagged very easily, especially on the right side. 3 stars for paying $8 and no fish and also for losing 3 lures from snags.
