Dr. Henriod is hands down the best doctor I've ever been to in my life! When I came to Dr. Henriod I was in excruciating pain. I had cracked a tooth and my dentist had sent me to a root canal specialist. The root canal specialist tried to numb me twice but even after the second dose I was in extreme pain anytime he touched my cracked tooth. My mom had had a similar problem before and recommended me to Dr. Henriod who she really liked. When I came to Dr. Henriod, first of all the parking is SUPER easy and convenient. The office has its own private lot right in front of the building, so no worrying about trying to find parking or having to park in some garage and figure out how to get to the office. Secondly, the office itself is very comforting. The high ceilings and cozy atmosphere make you feel at ease when you are undoubtedly in pain. All of the office fixtures are well kept and clean and there's little touches like a coffee machine that really make the place feel welcoming. Next is the office staff. Dr. Henriod has some really great office staff who are not only friendly and helpful, but also intelligent and perceptive. I can't tell you how many dr.'s offices I've been to who are good doctors but the office staff is unfriendly and not pleasant to work with. Not Dr. Henriod's staff, they are all very welcoming and also great at explaining things and answering questions. I had to come in several times for my procedures and the whole process of scheduling appointments and rescheduling when necessary was always a pleasant one. One thing I really appreciated is that after my initial consultation, a staff member sat me in an office and walked me through line by line what the costs of my procedure would be for the implant. They were very upfront and transparent about the costs and there were no hidden fees or upsells or anything like that. They also were great about working with me to try to bill insurance so that my own personal costs would be lower. Finally, and most importantly, is Dr. Henriod's skill at what he does. For the amount of pain I was in, I can't imagine anyone else extracting my tooth. He is very personable and really gives off an aura that makes you feel comfortable entrusting him to do a good job. He very skillfully handled the entire procedure and his constant words of encouragement and communication with me really made the process more bearable. Even though I couldn't actually see my mouth, Henriod's motions just felt very practiced and precise, more than any dentist I've been to. Based on that experience alone I would recommend Dr. Henriod, but it doesn't stop there. After getting my tooth extracted, Dr. Henriod also put in an implant, which was a painful process but Dr. Henriod really made it the best it could be. After my implant was done he sent me to my own dentist to have a crown done. When the mold for the crown was being taken the process was very lengthy and uncomfortable. When the crown was put in the process was also difficult and the crown just felt "off" as it would move around a little when I chewed. Later on I started having a lot of pain in that area and I went back to my dentist who sent me back to Dr. Henriod who informed me that it had gotten infected because the crown was not in properly. Dr. Henriod gave me some meds to tame in infection then told me to come back to get a new implant done. When I came back the second time he said my gums actually looked okay and that I could just get a new crown, but rather than send me back to my dentist who botched my first crown he did it right there on the spot for free! I was shocked at I paid my dentist quite a pretty penny to do my crown. I wanted Dr. Henriod to do the crown either way and would have been happy to pay but when I left everyone just wished me the best and I was on my way. Here's the thing, when my dentist (who I've been going to for years and i've had many procedures done with and is very highly reviewed on yelp by the way) was doing my implant it just felt clunky and not smooth, but when Dr. Henriod did it it was quick and easy. Not just the part about putting in the crown itself, but also the process of taking the mold for the crown. Having that side by side comparison of the same procedure made me really appreciate how skillful Dr. Henriod is. Anyway, long story short, Dr. Henriod is a man of true character and I would trust him with anything. He offers a money back guarantee that if something happens with your procedure he'll re-do it for free, and he really backed that up in my case when he went above and beyond to fix what my dentist had messed up. I miss Dr Miller dearly, he was a stand up dentist, honest and kind. Sad to say his practice is not the same. I'm new to yelp, and about a year I went for an extraction, First off - my whole billing consult and credit check with explanation was over email because no one ever answer my messages or calls. By the time I got to the office I had paid an extraction and for bone graphing, bone graphing that was not needed for that tooth and when I figured out I did not need it, and was lured into getting, I declined getting it, with doctors Henriod approval of course. I was never reimbursed like Henriod stated, Henriod then told me he would not reimburse me because he did the job. He conned me, I paid for a procedure that was never performed on me. Dr. Henriod is the absolute BEST! He recently performed a gingivectomy on me, and the entire process and experience (AND most importantly, the results) were fantastic. Our initial consultation was great, Dr. Henriod described the entire process and recovery period, and alleviated any concerns that I had about the procedure. His Office performed an analysis of my insurance benefits prior to the procedure which was awesome as well. The day of the procedure, everything went great. Dr. Henriod continually checked in with me throughout the procedure (I was numb in my jaw only) and ensured that I was numb throughout the length of the procedure. When it was completed, a staff assistant was taking some immediate "after" photos of my teeth. I saw the reflection of my teeth in the camera lens, and I got choked up because of how beautiful my teeth looked. Dr. Henriod did a FABULOUS job reshaping my gumline, better than I ever could have imagined. I waited a few weeks to write this review to see how my recovery and follow up appointment went. I am a former Pasadena resident turned San Diego resident and there are probably hundreds of Periodontists between these two cities but sometimes a personal referral goes a long way. We trust the doctors who have helped us through our lifetime. My dentist of 20+ years, Dr. West told me I had receding gums and only two options A) bonding or B) grafting. At that time, I had no idea the extent of these procedures nor did I know if the surgery would help the recession. Dr. West recommended me to Dr. Miller's office. She informed me Dr. Henriod, a recent doctor on board would be performing the surgery. Before my consultation, I prepared myself and researched the extent of grafting; the surgery and the post-op. Because I lived so far, Dr. Henriod was willing to come in on a Saturday to meet with me. I was really appreciative of that however it was not necessary as I adjusted my schedule for Friday visits. I have never met a doctor so truly down to earth, knowledgeable, positive, sincere, kind and understanding. On the day of my consult, he greeted me with a smiling face and checked the extent of the severity of the recession and clearly explained to me what the procedure entailed. He described to me new techniques being done to improve graft procedures and my comfort level rose as my worries subsided. During the surgery, he was conscious of my concerns and reassured me of any worries I may have had. During the post-op, he welcomed questions and we talk about the appropriate brushing technique. After 3 grafts performed by Dr. Henriod, he has been add to my list of doctors who I trust to help me through these specialized procedures. I recently fractured a tooth and had to deal with both its removal as well as an implant to replace the original. This was my first major dental experience, and I was pretty nervous. Dr. Henriod has really good bedside manners, and will answer all your questions and address your concerns patiently and thoroughly. Where to even begin! I called this place at 0800 after discovering the night before that my gum had receded SOOO much in such a short amount of time I was worried my tooth would fall out. I was greeted by a wonderful receptionist by the name "Dana" (... I think). She eased my nerves and told me the MD could see me at 2:30pm. I was relieved. I was able to fill out the new patient forms online which was easily accessible ( BONUS). I arrived to my appointment at 2:15pm and was greeted by "Carol". One of the sweetest receptionist I've encountered in the medical field. She stood up and shook my hand... Even showed me where the bathroom was located and the complimentary Keurig machine and water bottles. Mind you I didn't even have to ask her... Great Service! It made me feel at ease. I was seen promptly and taken to the back by "Gladys". She asked what brought me in today and I showed her my gnarly gums. She was very professional and made me feel Comfortable about my mouth situation. After getting a quick history on what brought me in she went to go get Dr. Henriod. Dr. Henriod was just as personable and kind as the whole staff I had already encountered. I was thinking to myself "This place is a gem! A true gem". After my exam he came to the conclusion I needed a gum graft. He realized he was busy the next few days and offered to perform the graft that day!!! I was SO RELIEVED!!! I got local for the procedure and was glad I didn't get general. Dr. Henriod was so gentle and made me feel like he cared. This office is awesome. I met Dr. Miller over 7 years ago and honestly I have not been more happy that I was referred to him. Going to the dentist is not an easy task, especially when you are afraid of bad news and needles (lol). When I first walked in the office, it was the friendliest enviroment that i've ever come across. They greet you will smiles and were so helpful. I wasn't sure of what to expect with Dr. Miller, 30 years in the business and I wasn't sure if I would get a doctor who wouldn't care, and just view me as a number in the chair. From the minute he walked into the office, there was the best bedside will in this case Dental Chair manner i've ever had in my life. His patient care should be bottled and sold to the masses. He took the time to explain everything to me, a soft and caring voice. Not feeling like I was being rushed or just a number in the chair. I was then referred to Magie, she smiled and explained every step of my care again like Dr. Miller had just done to reassure to make sure I understood everything. She reviewed my dental coverage and payment options. If I was able to rate them higher I would, I just don't believe 5 does them any kind of justice. When we first moved to L.A., I had a terrible experience with a dentist in Marina del Rey (which I documented on Yelp because for the first time in my life I became scared to go to the dentist). If only I had read HIS reviews before seeing him! All the more reason to write this one. Fortunately, I found Dr. Chess-Abelson and she recommended that I see Dr. Henriod / Dr. Miller to repair some lower gum recession. I was dreading any work like this for obvious reasons. (brace yourself) Dr. Henriod explained that they would take some tissue from the roof of my mouth and transplant it to my receded gum line. (I am simplifying the language but you get my drift...) Well, my procedure went wonderfully, my gum line looks great, and my follow-up visits have gone very well. The care and professionalism that I've experienced each time I visit Dr. Henriod and his team has been top-notch (this includes the office staff). He also encourages me to email him with any questions (and he replies quickly!) which adds another layer of comfort. I had a gum graft due to a receding gum and he was able to accomplish a healthy looking gum. It is no longer sensitive to cold. His hand must have been blessed many a times by the grace of God. I searched on the yelp to find the right periodontic. Here I found with most positive comments to this location. I setup my appointment online as well through the phone call. Dr. Miller and their staff were very profession. They gave me quick tour with with most up today technology and they gave me free gift on my first visit as well. Dr. Miller reviewed the charts that brought and took 360° views of my teeth and jaw. He spent much time to explain the problem and recommend solution in plain English. I have no doubt and reschedule to have my teeth done with LANAP. LANAP is a new technology to treat gum disease vs trandisional periodontal surgery. The procedure took 2 hours long. They put me to sleep and I didn't feel any pain at all even after get up and home. The best part is Dr. Miller notice I came alone and suggested I shouldn't be drive home after procedure done. He had his staff drive me home with my car and another staff will take her back to the office. My house to office is more than 20 mins drive. I do recommend 100% to everyone at this location. I went to Dr. Henroid for receding gums. I have had 2 surgery where is has taken extra tissue from the roof of my mouth and patched it to the areas I needed. Of course one of the times, something happened over the weekend and I hate to bother doctors on their off time. The numbers provided worked and Dr. Henroid responded right away. I also had insurance problems because they wanted specific documentation of my receding gums and would not pay Dr. Henroid. Their financial department never bothered me and continued to submit whatever the insurance company requested, which took more than 6 months (things could have been slower due to COVID), but I really appreciate the patience. I am updating this review on behalf of my mother again. She had her laser surgery done yesterday. Taking her to the this office has been a different experience than when she has visited other dentists. She is still in a good mood rather than upset. The staffs compassion and ability to put her at ease is one of the things she appreciates the most. Even though she was having a pretty extensive surgery, she said the way the doctor and assistant talked to her throughout the surgery made her feel less anxious and relaxed. It kept her mind off of what was going on and made the experience easier. Also, she received a pretty comprehensive and detailed instruction sheet to go home with. I read over the sheet and was quite impressed. If you had any post surgery concerns or questions, everything was laid out there. This is preliminary because I haven't started any work yet. I'm still deciding. But man, what a nice place to visit. People are friendly. No pressure. Pretty state of the art and they just really focus on the implant. Didn't feel any pressure and understood my financial condition. No upsell and free consultation. I'm really hoping work picks up and I can save up for an implant. But the great thing is that he was honest about timing. I went to another periodontist and she said I needed to do it ASAP and wanted to charge me $500 for the CT scan before we even started. Dr. Henriod did it at no cost and took his time to make sure I knew all my options. Told me the truth that I could wait a while, maybe even a year before I really needed to do the implant. I did extensive research for a good periodontist and drove from Long Beach to Pasadena to see Dr Henroid about my overall gum health. A previous dentist said I needed surgery right away but Dr Henroid's approach is much more gradual. I was comforted by his professional and caring approach and the drive was well worth it! I've had multiple grafts performed before and Dr. Miller and their billing team were great and were always spot on. A graft performed by Dr. Miller didn't take, and Dr. Miller re-did the graft free of charge. I was blown away by the level of customer service. However, my latest graft was done under a new insurance plan and they seriously dropped the ball on this one. I had a few grafts performed and the billing was always spot on under the Delta Dental PPO plan. I still needed a few more grafts to be performed, but I changed my dental insurance effective 01/01/15 to the Delta Dental HMO plan. I was worried that their office might not accept my new HMO plan. I informed them I was still under the same insurance provider but had switched over to their HMO plan. I was informed everything was fine and they accepted my new insurance policy but HMO's require a referral from my general dentist. No big deal so I went to my general dentist and they sent the referral over on 3/3/15. I came in on 3/5/15 for my graft to be performed. They showed me cost of $140 after insurance is taken into consideration. I paid $140 and left. I received an invoice of $960. I called Dana to ask about the $960 invoice I received. She explained to me the procedure I had done was not covered my insurance plan. I then asked her if the procedure I had done wasn't covered by my insurance plan, wouldn't you be required to let me know beforehand when paying for the procedure? She says we weren't made aware of your new insurance plan because I didn't fill out a "form". She was very disruptive and whenever I spoke, she interrupted me and as a result didn't hear what I had to say. So if your office wasn't aware of my new insurance because I didn't fill out a "form", then why did you ask for a general dentist referral? You asked me for a general dentist referral because it's required for my new HMO insurance. So you were fully aware of my new insurance plan. If you aware of my new plan then you should me know that my procedure wasn't covered. And therefore you should have billed me upfront for my procedure. I'm very dissapointed. It pains me to give one star as Dr. Henriod is great clinician. His assistant, Sona, is an angel. They are both caring and great professionals. The reason I am giving them a one star is because of their billing person. Be warned, do not deal with Joanne. She does not understand billing. At first, for months she kept telling me that my Medicare benefits are not paying; I am not even qualified to be on Medicare. Then she tells me that they outsource their billing and blamed the vendor. After 9 months and multiple denials, my insurance representative called her and provided her the correct procedure codes and she still didn't get the billing correct. Tell me which insurance company would call a provider on behalf of a member to correct their codes so that they process a $10k claim. The insurance company could have easily said sorry, this is what the provider billed but they didn't. They realized with my medical records the error is on the part of the provider and my insurance wanted to protect their member. I do not understand why Joanne doesn't understand nor follows the direct instruction provided by my insurance company. I wrote letters to Dr. Henriod but I did not even get any response. It would have been the right thing for him to respond and to get Joanne learn her job. read more

After I explained my unhappy ordeal to Dr. Henriod, he courteously offered me his service and expertise. I'm very impressed by his down-to-earth and sincere attitude and professionalism. Dr. Miller was referred to me by my dentist because I had a little tender spot in my soft palate. It felt like a kanker sore but after having that unusual feeling for about a month and consulting with my regular dentist he thought I should see a specialist. Dr. Miller took a look at my mouth and gave me a response within seconds. He told me to give it a few more weeks and it would resolve itself. Definitely a bit of a rare case but he knew the healing process would take a little longer than I expected and no surgical treatment would be needed. After one week it was exactly what he said. The sore rejected the tiny bone that was surfacing and causing the discomfort. It started to heal over on its own. I am so grateful I didn't need oral surgery! I still have a little bit of soreness but it definitely feels better than it did. The staff was also very attentive and professional. In fact, he recommended that I not have a procedure at this time because the recession wasn't severe. He was measured and kind in his responses and struck me as an honest person. Absolutely loved my experience! First off, I had seen a few horrible and quite appauling periodontists to have a gum graft. Everyone told me different reasons and different solutions to and for my problem. Immediately when I called the office to make an appointment, I was reassured with a kind voice. Once I arrived, I was pleasantly surprised that they had their own parking lot. When I walked in, it completely felt like home. The staff was incredibly helpful and cordial, the waiting area was clean, and I didn't have to wait too long for a consultation. The surgery went smoothly and Dr. Henriod even called me the next day to make sure everything was okay and to ask if I had any questions. They catered to my every need. I have since visited a hand full of times to check on the wound, take out stitches, concerns of my own and each time I was treated with caring respect. The office staff even remembered me and always asked personal questions about my life. Dr. Henriod, himself, is awesome. The moment I met him I felt comfortable and at ease. He was deeply concerned about my concerns and my comfort. I was frank with him about my other experiences and he seemed to go out of my way to make me feel even more at home. I saw Dr. Miller on one of my visits and he too seemed very nice and caring. I would recommend this office to anyone who needs any sort of work they specialize in. Had to have dreaded tissue transplant; space ship to moon filled, alternative, meet with Dr. Henriod. First: office staff incredibly warm, loving, courteous, bend over backwards to help you. Second but really Chief, Chief good reason. Dr. Henriod is exceedingly well trained, knowledgeable, educates you and works with your budget. Integrity and excellence wraps around this practice. I am on blood thinner, a small dance on normal days, but tissue transplant surgery, a larger, more complicated move, requiring little tuck in visits of extra purport after the surgery. Excellent, fabulous, no pain afterwards, and so it goes. His assistant Annie is superb, compassionate, intelligent, and I left feeling I had spent time in a very nurturing nest.
