    Grab bars installed
    Larissa M.

Hands down the BEST decision I made was hiring Joel! Joel and and his partner came to my home and fixed a variety of different things I haven't gotten around to but always wanted to. He was able to install some new grab handlebars in my bath tub and recaulked a window that the previous caulking was cracked. I also showed him one of my cabinet doors that was broke and he fixed it for free for me. He also was able to look at my ceiling fan that I am going to have him come back and install once I choose one I like. He is a jack of all trades, but specializes in painting as well. Very friendly, great prices, and great at communication. Can't wait to have him back.

Joel (along with LaFayette) did it again: excellent work with humor and enthusiasm, too. This was our third time using Joel at our home in Woodland Hills and he nailed it. At our certain ages, we just couldn't face assembling the double backyard swing. The guys built it in less than 2 hours, including setting up an amazing full-sized, portable work bench and laying out multiple tools. The best, will leave you happy and laughing, too. Competitive pricing always to boot. Looking forward to our next job together.

Ok, ok, yes, I'm picky. My father was an artist with antiquing and faux finishes. So, I checked every inch of Joel's work and it was perfect. His suggestions on what would work and would look best were brilliant. Kinda embarrassed to admit, but he left my house cleaner than when he started!! Don't tell him lol, but he could've charged much more!

Stair railing mounted on sturdy! Awesome job!

Ask the Community - Joel's Handyman Service

    Is Joel licensed and insured?

No we are only Handymen not General Contractors. This is why we are able to take smaller jobs at lower cost to customers.

We want to update 3 bedroom closet doors with "barn style" doors - seen on Pinterest. We would need expert advise, purchase and install. Joel, is this something you do?

Text me would be best. Thank you.

TLDR: Hire this man…read more Found Ali on Yelp to install our kitchen cabinets after our first installer proved to be uninterested in helping find bespoke solutions to the challenges presented by our design. Ali responded very quickly on Yelp and provided what seemed like a good price. I realized that buying cabinets myself and hiring Ali to build and install them would cost several thousand less than the other installer was charging to do everything, and I'd have a better kitchen for it. Ali did a great job with our pre-fab cabinets, and he also built us a custom range hood and stained our floating oak shelves to match. He customized several of our cabinets to accommodate our needs, and always provided a fair price upfront for the additional work. He's been doing this a long time and his experience and knowledge were always helpful. It's clear that he enjoys the challenge of finding creative solutions, rather than dismissing them as "too custom." Everything turned out wonderful and we get a lot of compliments on the hood. Ali was the best contractor we worked with during our renovation. He spent a lot time in our home and was always friendly and professional. If I'm nitpicking, occasionally communication was hit or miss. But the same was true and worse for every single other contractor we worked with during the renovation, so this is just par for the course I guess. And it certainly wouldn't prevent me from hiring Ali again. He's a good person who cares about doing good work, and not only did he stick to his original quote (plus the extra work we'd added), he actually deducted small things that ultimately didn't need to be done which I would never have noticed or brought up. Definitely reach out to him and see if he can help you with your project. Thanks Ali!

From our very first meeting, Tom demonstrated exceptional professionalism, creativity, and attention to detail. He took the time to visit our home, carefully measure the space, and listen to all of our ideas, wants, and needs. Throughout the design process, Tom offered numerous creative suggestions that enhanced both the functionality and appearance of our kitchen. Tom provided us with detailed CAD drawings that incorporated everything we discussed, along with several innovative ideas of his own. He was always receptive to our feedback, maintained a positive attitude, and consistently demonstrated a genuine commitment to making sure we were completely satisfied with the design. Once fabrication began, Tom and his team built our custom cabinets with outstanding craftsmanship and completed the installation on schedule. During the installation process, Tom continued to offer creative solutions and improvements that further elevated the finished product. The final result exceeded every expectation we had. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and straightforward about what needed to be done and where potential problems might be. From day one, everything went smoothly and efficiently. I was given a clear work timeline and payment schedule. Was informed about each step as they progressed. It was a tremendous amount of work to be completed in 3 months, which they did. David was patient and understanding with my many requests and questions, and immediately solved any issues that came up. Wish I knew all the names of the crew as well. My parents have a soft spot and my mother is very particular , so I thought there were miscommunications , I also felt extremely bad because his daughter had medical issues and he hurt himself as well. Long story short, we were happy with the work so when it came to my house and my mother told him that I am remodeling my home, Albert came and said he needed the work and he was going to build me a kitchen and do my closets and the door that I needed for my remodel with the best wood and as my other contractor wants to build for me with a given price, and all the promises , so I sat him down and said Albert as amazing as you work is I rather not deal with the headache, I cannot push things back, and I need to move in by October, everything should be done. He made me a promise that things wouldn't be the same and my family means a lot to him because we have been there for him in ways his own family couldn't and he would be honored. BIG MISTAKE! This guy is crazy. First of all lies through the roof,Every day he would say he's coming in the am and he would be done and he would show up around noon and leave around 3 with nothing finished. While he was here if I even approached him he would start yelling and screaming and hitting himself to the point I turned to my mom and my husband and I said should I call the police ? I think he's not stable . Long story short, I had enough of the yelling but since I had given him down payments for all of the projects and deep down I felt bad for the guy I kept hushing and looked the other way. I sat down with him numerous times and asked him to please without being disrespectful to give me a timeline that works best for him so I can figure out my own end. He even wrote them down and signed and promised . Guess what ? Nothing ! Same thing and only got worse. I couldn't take his yelling so I asked my husband to have most of the conversations since he's extremely calm, long story short he made a web of lies saying I am treating him badly like a worker which is not true at all and so many other things . I offered him water and drinks as I saw him working, I got them lunch and offered them to my own table when I saw them there the days they were actually working but when conversations went like hi Albert you said you were coming in Monday it's Wednesday and you have said you are painting my door every single day at your shop, are you coming in ? He said yes and showed up Thursday with a Door that is not painted my jaw dropped! With all of the projects he was supposed to do and failed miserably he Built a bar for $3,000 which did not match the picture I wanted him to build it like. he said he would match my kitchen shakers and he built me a book stand instead. The built in entertainment system and a thick mantel for uber my tv and over my fireplace and he built me something so thin like an ikea shelf not even close to what I wanted. He also had the audacity to ask $2000 on top of that with 2 more weeks so he could make it look built in as I had originally agreed on with him after he was already late 2.5 months. Sorry about the rant but I don't wish such a person on my worst enemy. He is a liar, a crook and an impossible man and I feel so sorry for him because he just sits there and cries with his lies and looks innocent . Well no more !!! My timeline: Signed a contract for a kitchen with him August 24 to be finished in 30 days my kitchen was done at 93% Late October. Still not done I may add and today we decided to let him know that we no longer wish to work with him because he will not show up. All other things were supposed to be done in October after many arguments, and right now it's the end of November and my bar or my entertainment center is not even started on yet. He designed and brought a shelf cabinet instead of what I asked of him for the bar and he took most of the parts back and blamed me and my walls for his mistakes . I hope this review makes someone understand all of the headache and pain this crazy unstable man has caused.
