Hands down the BEST decision I made was hiring Joel! Joel and and his partner came to my home and fixed a variety of different things I haven't gotten around to but always wanted to. He was able to install some new grab handlebars in my bath tub and recaulked a window that the previous caulking was cracked. I also showed him one of my cabinet doors that was broke and he fixed it for free for me. I have never experienced a worker as unprofessional or creepy as the one. Last night I found he had gone without permission through my bedroom - which has nothing to do with the room being renovated - moved things around, broke the air conditioner, left plaster-caked footprints all over the room, including on my pillow. It will cost hundreds just to replace what he ruined. On top of which, he is more than a month behind on the project he is supposed to have completed, leaves the living room and guest bathroom in awful condition on a daily basis, and has used our dishes to mix plaster without permission. He should be sued, and his cheap home depot loitering hired buds. Do not use. Moreover, the business owner falsely claimed my review was fake or about a different company, when of course that is not the case, and demanded it be taken down rather than fixing or addressing any of the mistakes. Since the initial review, further work produced additional problems. More dishes needed to be thrown away because of contractors mixing plaster in them without permission. A computer had to be recycled because so much tile dust got in it that the motherboard was ruined and it would no longer turn on (said computer was in the living room, not the room being repaired, but the workers kept cutting tile in the living room for no reason). Also there is so much tile dust in the wood living room floor that the floor is ruined. And through it all, a job that was supposed to be completed by mid-June remains unfinished, on top of thousands of dollars in damage. I made an appointment with Joel to fix my roof which was leaking around the evaporative cooler when it rained. He arrived on time and he and his assistant spent a couple of hours not just finding and patching the leak, but also proactively cleaning and patching all around the cooler to be sure it didn't have any other leaks. We've hired Joel for multiple jobs and have always been done on time, as quoted and has always exceeded expectations. When first purchased house, had a lot of crack issues on walls and ceiling and then 4 years since, none have returned. He also painted the interior, fixed bathroom sink and bathroom door. Since I moved into my home 5 years ago, I have hired Joel time and time again for a variety of projects. All of his work has been great, but I especially have to say he is especially talented at painting. Bought an older house in Woodland Hills in July and found Joel on Yelp the following week. He's done so much for us already and we keep asking him back. His work is always excellent and he always cleans up after himself beautifully. And I'm SUPER picky. Bonus: he's very funny, kind, thoughtful and his rates are very reasonable. Some of the things he's done for us already: Removed old cook top then installed our new cook top and its gas line. Installed two ceiling vent fans with lights in two bathrooms where there were only lights before. He had to run the exhaust hose through interior and exterior walls to get this done. Perfect inside and out. Brought in an electrician friend to help replace over 20 outlets throughout the house. Replaced and/or rewired several light switches. They also removed a chandelier in the master bedroom and moved it to our stairway in a very high, difficult to reach ceiling after removing an ugly, old, broken ceiling fan in that difficult spot. Removed another very large, very funky chandelier the previous owner left behind and replaced it with my chandelier. Mine had to be rewired before it was hung and everything was done perfectly. Installed new ceiling fan with a light in the master bedroom. When we discovered the remote control for our new fan was making an older ceiling upstairs turn on and off (!!) Joel and his electrician friend knew how to fix it; they quickly changed the code on the new fan. Repaired / patched / painted holes in walls. Previous owner left behind several cans of paint that Joel used for these repairs. In one case, we couldn't find the exact match so Joel blended two colors we had and somehow matched the existing color perfectly. Hung two towel racks in one bathroom and was very careful about placement so they were both level and were mounted at the same height in both places. Very professional. This was a simple job but his attention to detail never waivers and I sincerely appreciate that kind of effort. We already have plans to have him back to install bookshelves in a closet and paint our living room, dining room and kitchen. Another benefit of working with Joel: he hooked us up with a carpet installer who charged us HALF what the "other guy" wanted AND we got the exact same high-end, environmentally-friendly, super-soft carpet the more expensive guy tried to sell us. I am not one to post on Yelp much, but this time, I just had to. It has been difficult during the whole pandemic to get things done but I desperately needed to revamp my garage that has been a "catch all" over the years for everything. I read the reviews for Joel and contacted him on a Sunday. I did not expect a call back until Monday, so I prepared myself to leave a detailed message but I was pleasantly surprised that he answered. I told him that my garage needed a complete overhaul from paint,stucco repair to overall organization. We agreed he would come on Wednesday and he and his team mate Charlie came right on time. What was a daunting project ( a real mess) became a work of art. From painting to shelving and repairs, everything now has a home. What was once a place I could not stand to be in, is now a remodeled place I enjoy spending time in.
