If I was ever stranded on a dessert island, I could happily survive off of baguette, olive oil & balsamic vinegar. And avocados. And scotch. ... I suppose that's more "all inclusive" then camp/danger times but you get the gist: fancy condiments make me exceptionally gleeful. Hands down, my favourite "stumble upon" find of the year, this massively large, bright and almost industrial looking store is well worth making a dive off the highway when your ferry and/or Point Bob bound. Tsawwassen resident? You lucky bast*rd. Olive Oil & Balsamic Vinegar. I wasn't kidding. That's all they have. Save the one little table up front of soaps made from (you guessed it) olive oil and balsamic vinegar... They have oils and vinegars from over there and right around the corner. Virgin, cold pressed, international tasty times galore. Rows upon rows and tables upon tables of oils and vinegars with tiny tasting spouts, where you can taste to your hearts content, bread provided. I left exceptionally full. Highlights: Honey & Ginger white balsamic vinegar - light and sweet with a kick Blood Orange Olive Oil with Dark Chocolate balsamic. Oh dear god. All natural aged Tahitian vanilla balsamic paired with Chipotle olive oil. Sweet and spicy. Oh double dear god. Organic Tuscan Herb Infused Extra Virgin Olive Oil - because... that's just fancy. But the one that won me wholeheartedly: All Natural Aged Cinnamon Pear Balsamic. This bad boy is sweet with a hint of that cinnamon spice. Perfectly balanced with the hit of vinegar. It's the balsamic that little baby salads one day hope to meet. On mixed greens with fresh blueberries? OH GOD. I can't even talk about how good it is with brie and baguette. It makes me tear up a little. And the price point? Super reasonable. I can't quite remember as I was suffering from happy overload at the time, but my bottle ran about $12. Which is significantly less then my last fancy condiment from Whole Foods. Go here. Just go.

So I swore off SOF and went over to Thriftys. Now I'd always thought Thriftys was much more expensive, but it's really not that much depending what you buy. And the quality... well, there's no comparison. You do get what you pay for. This Thriftys has very friendly staff who all recognize me and always say hi. I buy a lot of fresh veg and bananas, and the produce is excellent albeit a little higher priced. But I'll pay a little more for consistency which saves me time going to another store. I've also always had very positive interaction asking if they have more/bigger in the back. Well stocked shelves, very clean store, lovely bakery, nice variety (especially considering it's a smaller store), nice atmosphere, and great floral department. Some good snack and lunch ideas in the deli department. The store may be small but they almost always have what I want and more. One stop shopping 99.9% of the time. Their customer service is excellent. I also want to mention one specific experience. I'm a local shop keep and my two door freezer went down one day. I went over to Thriftys and asked if there was any chance I might be able to store some inventory in their freezer for a day or two til mine got fixed. One of the owners said they didn't really have the space (like I said, it's small store), but then he looked at me and said, "You know what? We'll make the space for you." I was so grateful. Turns out I didn't need to take him up on it after all, but his willingness to help me out really carried a long way. Life long customer right here! Check em out!

Best blueberries in the lower mainland! We've been getting…read moreour blueberries from Bancy Blueberry Farms for at least the past 4 summers and they never disappoint. The first 10 pound box usually gets eaten before we have a chance to plan any baking or freezing, and then the second ten pounder vanishes shortly thereafter. A true family run local business in every sense. My wife and I love them! Looking forward to next year's harvest.

Been buying 10 lb box of blueberry each week for the last 3 weeks. Blueberries are sweet and fresh. Will probably do one last run of blueberries before freezing them. They don't do U Pick but their pricing is very reasonable. They also have Russian garlic and other fruits on sale... minimal choices but am there for the blueberries. Will definitely be one of my go to place for blueberries.

Its made out from Reaper Pepper. Its so spicy that one little sprinkle can put you unconscious if you can't handle spice (that is what it says on the bottle). yes that is me. I have to stay away from this stuff. Its deadly. But my colleague said its so good. Well I looked around. Yes this is truly a hot spice lover joy paradise. Not for me. Its a place I stay away if I want to live. Deadly spicy.

We came here one day before Valentine's Day and oh boy was it busy in the store!! The store name…read morebasically was the thing that caught my eye- Chocolate Bear....sounds cute and its one of a kind. The store is small and looks somewhat out-dated but they do have all sorts of roses, hearts, bear and chocolates of all shapes and sizes. Their price is reasonable. They also sell a lot of stuffed animals to go with the chocolates. If you are ever around the neighborhood, it'll be kind of cool to check it out as they also have those old-fashioned candies. Parking available in plaza.
