Visited this week for the second time after hearing great things and I can see why people rave about this place. It's a small shop but they do have a good selection in their specialty. Although they didn't have the exact cut of meat we were after they did have something close. We were served shortly after walking in and our order was prepared quickly. Pleasant service with a smile is really appreciated and noticed that much more in a small business. You could go to any number of supermarkets for meat and deli items, but I know where I'll be going from now on. Their prices are very reasonable and the location cannot be beat for my neighborhood. I walked by this place and saw a sign regarding lamb chops on sale. To my curiosity I walked near the store to check it out. Unfortunately they closes quite early on a weekday. I knew I had to be back. Kea is quite hidden. It is not on a busy street or anything. It has been serving the community for over 30 years and is known only by locals living in the area. We came here to pick up some deli meat for our sandwiches. We got Smoke Havarti cheese, Black Forest Ham and Spicy Genoa Salami. Next day came and we made our sandwich. It was delicious. The Spicy Genoa Salami had lots of flavor and it was super spicy but the spiciness doesn't kick in until 15 seconds later. Everything was great here and we were impressed by the freshness. I do recommend coming here to pick up deli meat. Selections are better here than if you went to Buy Low or Save-On. read more

Okay so now that I've gone ahead and bought the variety pack, I feel compelled to update the review. I wish there were six stars. My experience was mind blowing. I just wanted to order a variety pack and change a few items, but what happened after I said that to the nice guy on the phone was mind blowing. He went through every item, and asked me: a) how would i like it cut? 1" 2" 1lb? 2lb? b) how many to a package? 1? 2? 3? 4? Whole? c) would i like it frozen or raw for pick up? d) i swapped some items, so he suggested other options that might interest me. We bought our first pack at the end of October and needed to buy our next pack in January. We upgraded this time, and don't regret it at all. The best part is, I never need to buy meat at the regular store anymore, and I can ask DH to "pull out a protein" and create dinner on the fly when I get home. Marvelous. read more

A little butcher shop located in a quiet neighbourhood. If you look around, you'll see townhomes, factories and offices. Look closely and you'll see a tiny shop painted white. Inside, you will find different types of meat ranging from chicken, pork, beef, lamb and fish. The best variety seems to be their beef, which is seperated by cut and grade. I bought some AAA New York cut steaks for a BBQ and it was amazing. The meat just melted in your mouth! I found the prices to be a little on the higher side, but since it's a quick walk from home, I can look past that. read more

The best butcher shop I know. You don't just walk into Kea's and ask if they have any ribeye steaks. You walk in and ask them how many choices for ribeye steaks do they have that day. That number is never less than two, and is usually three, at various quality and price ranges (e.g. AA at around $9/lb, and a couple of different sub-grades of AAA at $15 and $19 is a typical selection). They acquire and sell some of the best well-aged, densely marbled beef in the lower mainland, and are constantly rotating their offerings based on what's the highest quality and at a good price. Sure, the best steaks here are going to cost you about $10-12 apiece, but because they're good and large and well-aged (minimizing excess water), they're going to be twice as big on the dinner plate as a similar steak you get at the grocery store. My wife and I sometimes split one. I've found a couple of other meat shops in town with similar quality, but almost always at a higher price than Kea's. Plus, this is a family business which has been there for years, and on any visit usually three different generations of the family are helping you simultaneously. I like my money going to people like that rather than to a suit in a corporate office somewhere anyway. The ribeye steaks are the star of the show here, but they also carry sirloins and other steak cuts depending on what their wholesalers have that week in good quality. Their ribs and pre-marinated souvlaki skewers are also always good, and they have a good selection of cheeses and deli goods, along with a large selection of Greek products including a homemade tzaziki sauce that is terrific. In a large freezer they also stock some frozen game meats, which vary from season to season. Lately, they've also added a bin of large potatoes next to the cheese counter, so you have everything you need for a terrific steak and potato dinner in a single stop. If only they had a license to sell me a bottle of cabernet sauvignon to go with my steaks, I'd give them 6 stars if possible. read more

I absolutely love this place. When I didn't live close I'd try to stop by after work before it closed because they have a huge selection of deli meats and cheeses. Now that its literally a short walk away I'm there almost every week. You can choose as little or as much as you like. Usually sells by the pound but if you want 4 slices of this cheese, 2 slices of this cheese and 1/4 lb of salami they got you covered! They have other meats too like grilled chicken, pork chops, new York steaks and souvlaki kebobs! They sell assorted cans, jars and packs of different sauces and canned goods too. Very authentic place and great customer service, I have never been anything but satisfied. They're a cute family business that obviously takes pride in what they do and making sure they have fresh and many local ingredients. Too scared to committee to anything big? Try a sandwich. You can combine any cheese and any meat and its about $2 on their fresh soft baked buns. So good! read more

Alas, in seeing others had written reviews of this little gem tucked away in Burnaby, I felt I should add my voice to theirs. This is THE place to go in the 'hood ESPECIALLY if you are doing a full on bbq for your crew. Keas Meat is an old school butcher shop. It's amazing not just for their products but the people that work there are excited to talk about food and share their knowledge with you. Just a short list of my favourite items are: Various meats and cheeses you can have sliced up - great for making your own pizzas. Quick lunch sandwiches / meal combos: YUM YUM YUM!! (This place is hopping at lunchtime from the various businesses in the area). Kabobs- I can't choose between the lamb, beef or chicken!! Who am I kidding? I always get an extra skewer of the lamb... Frozen meats - there is some serious grilling to be done here with the options of bison, lamb and so much more. Steaks - Sweet Lord, the AAA rib eye steaks you can get here blows peoples minds!!! Greek products - there is a great selection of oils, spices, stuffed and un-stuffed olives, frozen spanakopita and I swear I could gain 5 pounds just looking at their homemade tzatziki - it's mouthwatering good! read more

I have frequented this place for picking up Greek and Mediterranean treats. They have a great selection of cheeses, pre marinated meats including lamb, pork, beef and chicken. They have great Yogurt for making tzatziki annnnnnd really good pre made tzatziki :) If you need some good greek spices, pita break, olives or Feta Cheese...This is your one stop shop. Granted you can get this stuff elsewhere ..this is the good stuff! I would sincerely recommend getting your Greek products here, great prices, good service and very good parking lol! read more

The steaks are cut to customers specification, the quality is top notch (ie they get the same high end quality meat that the butcher at Granville island does but charges $8 a pound less, add the staff are all nice and friendly. Been into a Kea's several times before but never really purchased anything. Went in today to have a look for something in particular. The service here is fantastic, there are always people in the store shopping, but always someone behind the counter ready to help and answer questions. I bought a smoked ham hock today, and found that it was pretty much double the size than anything else I'd see in a regular grocery store. I was amazed by how decent the price was for it (half the price compared to Save On, up the street) and it tastes so much better.
