Stumbled across the beautiful historic town Almonte while driving back roads from Ottawa to Toronto. Chose Joe's Italian Kitchen for its picturesque location looking at the Grand Falls. Situated in an old mill Joes keeps a rustic feel adding to its charm. The menu which is somewhat limited focusing on Pinsa (like a pizza) for which they appear to use authentic Italian ingredients. The Joe theme is carried over to the pinsa menu names. I had the Joe Theisman, a goat cheese pesto pinsa. Very well prepared. We also ordered a beet and feta salad with chicken that was fresh and quite good. Service was very attentive, prices fair. read more

The biggest wow here is the location in the bottom of an old mill, beside a roaring waterfall. The decor embraces the old rugged cement walls with perfect use of space, lighting and furniture. If you sit outside, perched on the side of the mill, you have a wonderful view of the river and falls that run through Almonte. It is however a bit loud at times, impacting conversation slightly. Food and service were both solid. My Joe Walsh pizza was perfectly prepared and tasty. My meal partners all enjoyed their choices as well. It was a bit too much for me to finish! The crust was fabulous. It is a limited menu: beer, wine, non alcoholic drinks, and anti-pasta, pasta, salads and the Pinsa Romana we had, heralded as the new pizza. This is not a place for gluten free eaters! Definitely worth a visit for atmosphere along with a glass of wine and pizza. read more

I'm unsure there is a better patio in the Ottawa area. The food and drinks were amazing.

Best part of our lunch over and above delicious food was our super sweet server named Avery. She was attentive and confident along with serving us a wonderful lunch that was a perfect take on what we ordered. No mistakes seems rare nowadays. This business is lucky to have her there. read more

Beautiful heritage building overlooking the falls. We sat outside on the patio with a great view. Nice variety in the menu. We had the goat cheese and beet salad (very good) and two pinsas: Big Joe Mufferaw and Joe DiMaggio. Both were light and fluffy with tasty toppings. The canolli deserts were yummy too! I recommend making reservations since this place is always full for good reason. The food and service is impeccable. If you want to sit on their deck to take in the amazing view of the falls right beside the restaurant- go early and wait in line. They do not take reservations for the balcony and the view is definitely worth the wait. read more

Showing up mid-day with a party of 11 can cause a bit of chaos but Joes took it in stride. This was our second attempt - be forewarned - while the restaurant is "open" until 8pm, the kitchen closes at 7:30pm so you will not actually be admitted or fed at 8pm. Was not a positive first impression but everyone we met raved so we tried again... WORTH IT! Food was outstanding. Group of 11 had range of food priorities so we tried the paninis, pinzas/pizza, bruschetta and salads. The pinza crust is unique and worth it - a pillowy, soft bite that holds up well to fresh pomodoro sauce and salty bacon (for example - ha!). Salad was appropriately dressed (rather than drowned) and beautifully presented. Our waiter was fabulous (Michael?) and managed the complexity, randomness and boisterousness of our group with charm. Oh yes - did I mention the setting is stunning? My only regret was not having room to order the burrata salad that went by en route to another table. A real gem. read more

This is a pizza specialised restaurant with a few additional dishes on the menu such as a pasta of the day. The atmosphere is excellent by the river as is the charming rustic inside and enjoyable summer or winter. The food is super family friendly so you wont have complaints from kids. There is a bar area as well at the end of the restaurant. Overall its going for a cheerful and friendly vibe, which it does achieve well. I can imagine this being popular with the Almonte locals especially during summer when the town really shines and is super busy. You should plan during busier times as I expect you may need to wait for a table. If I was out and about all day with the family and we wanted to sit down, eat and relax this would probably be the place to go to. Great pizza, their pinsa dough is so unique and very fluffy and tasty! Was so good in fact that we went back a second time that same weekend and Joe's has become one of our favourite pizza places in the city. Joe's is a winner. They have a unique vibe, which is rustic and lends itself to eating 'authentic' Italian pizza, they have a unique view that is different (location, location, location) and of course anyone who has been to Italy or knows Italian pizza will tell you this is how pizza should be done. They have a few unique pizzas and toppings, but the crust and shape of the pizzas more than anything make them authentic. Well done and, oh, I do nor even like arugula or raw veggies on my pizza and I enjoyed their garnish. Bonus: clean restaurant. read more

The food, venue and service were all great. The table are set far too close to one another. My dining mate and I were unable to block out the conversation at the next table. It consisted mainly of medical issues but the real bad one was the mole that a husband could feel growing. Please, move the tables farther apart. We have tried many times this summer to give this place a try . It's always busy and a long wait time! This Friday when we heard of the one day great weather we decided tod rice to Almonte especially to grab lunch at their patio. I called a day before to book but the lady on the phone was very unfriendly and told me sorry we took enough reservations for tomorrow and I'm taking no more! So we decide to go and wait in line. We out our names down and asked them to give us a call when our table is ready. Same lady (I assume) said sorry we are too busy you have to come every ten minutes and check! We were really surprised with the attitude. We can tell it's a busy place but they can still be nice with the customers. 45 minutes later we get a table and for the view they definitely take 10 stars! The salad was great and original with candied pear and pecans. But the pizza was seriously average! We ordered the original crust they had another kind maybe that one was better not sure. Definitely a spot with checking if you are in Almonte we just wish the service and hostess were more pleasant read more

Had an early dinner/late lunch on the terrace. This little gem of a place is a new personal favorite. The terrace is so picturesque and, although we did not eat indoors I could see it had great vibes. Our server was so pleasant and attentive - she was covering many, many tables and yet gave us that personal attention we enjoy. We both had a "made in house" sausage served in a "made in house" panini. The kitchen is open to view by the customers. The restaurant was full. Attention to Covid19 guidelines were followed - as we waited for our table I watched how thoroughly the tables and furniture was sterilized/ tables were separated with acrylic panels. They were tops-the side salad was ideal as well. Local beers were available on draft. Yep! We'll be back. May even try their other two establishments recently opened - one at a winery, another in the city. read more

The pinsa bread used for the panini is the best part of the entire meal. I could make a meal out of that bread.

Delicious pizza and great service. Tried five different pizzas and all of them were terrific. Service was also excellent.

I have enjoyed lunch at the Almonte location twice and loved it from the hostess checking us in, to the divided tables to ensure Covid19 protocols are met, to the drinks, the appetizers and the main course. The decor and location are fab. I had the Italiano panini and probably the best caesar salad ever! The white wine sangria was perfect. Yes, I had the same thing both visits it was all that good. I ate at the Wellington location on their curbside patio back in November and I can say the same for that location, the hostess was friendly, the decor superb (LOVE the timberframe patio) and the food just as great. I had the chef special of the day and I don't recall what it was but I know know devoured every bite. Then just today, we ordered takeout and the Linguini Al Frutti Di Mare, caesar salad and cannoli were excellent. I can hardly wait to go back to either location.
