Ok so I've been here a few times now so I feel comfortable about this review. The place is nice it's has an atmosphere. The pasta is amazing the Italian sausage and beef was great. The servers always smiling and happy to help. The one con: was the Chicago style pizza it taste good but, it was just thick crust pizza the layering was not right and lack of ingredients was a shame to Chicago style. The layers they had were cheese sausage and sauce. Every pizza I have had in Chicago was layered ingredients then cheese then sauce. Then the lack of ingredients the places I eat at in Chicago there was a bit of sausage in every bit. I am biased because I'm from up there. read more

We hadn't tried Joe's in years, so we decided to stop in while we were on that side of town. The waiter was amazing. He was going into his senior year in high school, but had the best manners and customer service skills I have ever witnessed from a younger server. He went over the specials, made suggestions, kept the drinks full, and checked in often. He also offered us to-go drinks when he brought us the check. The food was very good. It came out hot and fresh and had a good flavor to it. We had the garlic cheese bread with red sauce for dipping, and the Joe's special thin crust medium 12 inch pizza. read more

Food is delicious. Service is okay, but pricing is confusing. An 8 inch cauliflower crust is a $5.00 up charge, while a 10 inch cauliflower crust is a $3.00 up charge. This makes no sense. Why am I charged $2.00 more for 2 less inches of pizza? read more

The Herrin location really surprised me after trying another location that has since shut down. I'd eat one at their Marion store and hated it but the Herrin restaurant was night and day better. We had good service during a lunch rush, split a Greek pizza between two people and all I can say is Yummety-Yum-Yum-Yum!!! We've been back a few times and with family and enjoyed the different dishes and continued to have good service during busy dinner rushes. read more

Stopped by Joe's on a recent visit back home to see family. We were a party of eight and the staff quickly cleaned and pushed together tables on the main dining room. The other option would have been a private area in the back of the restaurant, which I'd recommend if you have a big party--and call in advance to reserve it! The little ones in our group were entertained with Joe's Kid's Menu coloring sheets. We started out with a delicious bruschetta appetizer that was covered in fresh tomatoes and great for sharing. The kids snacked on an 8" cheese pizza, served with stuff breadsticks. On to entrees. The pizza: we got deep dish. It was crispy on the outside and covered with gooey cheese and fresh tomato sauce. It's A LOT of food, and you'll be full by the second piece. Sandwiches. Also big portions. The Italian sausage was the standout--one of the best items we tried. The Italian beef was pretty standard. Juicy and flavored perfectly. Don't be afraid to swap the fries with fried green beans! Pastas: cooked perfectly and covered with house made sauces, fettuccini or tomato. I loved the angel hair, it wasn't too heavy and was far from bland. The service is quick and professional and the space is comfortable for a date night or a family affairs like ours. Nasty food! Stuffed Shells with this horrible red sauce that is sweet. Some of the food is ok, a just ok. What restaurant for pick-up doesn't give out silverware? You need to call Gordon Ramsey cause what we had was FOUL!! The pasta sauces are probably from Kroger, and the bruschetta is clearly a dessert, not an appetizer: outlandishly sweet. The pizza, however, is excellent as long as you dine in. Take out or delivery pizza has been NOT as ordered. There seems to be some obsession in the kitchen with thin crust. When a hand tossed crust is asked for it arrives correct as long as one is seated in the restaurant. Every time I've ordered for take out or delivery, despite asking for NOT thin crust the pizza has arrived incorrectly made. This is a hit/miss restaurant. read more

It is our anniversary, a special occasion. I am a bed-bound vet, so I don't drive. My wife doesn't drive. We ordered a medium Joe's deluxe, chef salad, and fried mushrooms. The pizza was cold, as was the bottom of the box, and the mushrooms were cold and burnt. We ordered online. The girl said they would remake the order, but we would have to drive to pick it up because we ordered our meal online. My wife said the salad was OK. We wanted something special for our anniversary. When Joe's first opened we tried their Chicago style pizza. Let's just say no one from Joe's has truly tasted Chicago deep dish. This was not deep dish! The sauce was too sweet. A true deep dish takes longer than a few minutes to arrive to table. So years have passed we decided to give them a try again. This time going with pasta. Since their red sauce is sweet we went with shrimp Alfredo. The Alfredo sauce tasted like water. Literally like water as water has no taste. Actually I prefer water over the tasteless sauce I was served. When asked if their chicken parm was fresh or a frozen patty. We were told they were frozen patties and the cooks would have a fit if they had to make a fresh patty. I will have to say the staff were extremely friendly. Really nice place with good food and a nice clean and bright dining room. The pizza is the star but the other food, pasta, salad and sandwiches are all really good. The service is also top notch. The servers (all of them) are constantly stopping to ask how they can make your stay more pleasant. Never does your drink sit empty or do dirty plates stay around with this crew on duty. I found this restaurant thanks to Yelp. I was greeted by the friendly staff when I walked in and sat myself at the bar. I asked for a dark beer and the bartender told me about a local brewery in Murphysboro called Big Muddy and suggested their Saluki Dunkeldog. It was very good beer. He also suggested that I consider ordering their Thursday night special "all you can eat" spaghetti dinner with salad, garlic butter breadsticks and a soft drink for six dollars and some change and I accepted. I was glad that I did! The pasta sauce was fairly sweet, but that is just how I like it. The breadsticks were the best pizza place breadsticks that I have ever had. I was full after the first serving, but I had to order another plate of spaghetti because I enjoyed it so much. Herrin is lucky to have this excellent restaurant! They also serve Chicago style and stuffed crust pizza! They also serve some wonderful fried portobello mushrooms! Check it out, you won't be disappointed! read more

I would not eat here again. Two of our party found black hairs in our food. Asked to speak with the manager which proved fruitless.
