Mimmo's is a great little spot in downtown Carterville. Located right off Rt. 13. It's easy to find. Parking out front. They offer inside and patio dining options. Inside is on the smaller side, but they are able to move people through quickly. Everything is made to order and fresh. On this visit, we had garlic cheese bread, which is served with homemade meat sauce, and a 14 inch thin crust pizza. For the pizza, we had the Mimmo's special. It comes with mozzarella, pepperoni, sausage, onions, green bell peppers, mushrooms, and green olives. It was all hot, fresh, and delicious! This is a family owned and operated establishment, so you are interacting with the owners throughout your visit and they are always very pleasant and welcoming. We have lived in Southern illinois for years and just found Mimmos. Now we're addicted!!! Pasta is fresh with homemade sauce, Italian Beef sandwiches like you get around Chicago with sliced beef and scrumptious bread, au jus and peppers. pizza comes in sizes from 8" to 20"... and everything is always delicious. service is great, small dining area but you can almost always find a table. read more

Mimmo's Pizza has been in the town of Carterville for sometime now. It is a family owned business that is ran by friendly and amazing people. My family and I love their pizza and not to mention some of the other items that are available on their menu. Their spicy chips are wonderful to snack on as you wait for your main food to come out. The location is easy to get to and their prices are definitely fair. I would rather have their freshly made pizza any day over the big chain pizza places. Love the pizza and the hospitality this restaurant shows. Would I eat at this establishment again? Definitely always want to mention that my reviews are based on my own past experience. I don't usually leave any reviews, but thought it was time. While listening to the lady owner speak about me to other customers, and turn her back and talk to workers about me. All of this, because I showed up a little early to pick up a salad. I called in my order and was told it would be 5 minutes. Only to get home and to discover some kind of centipede bug in my half eaten salad. UGH! I'm still amazed how I read about the reviews of the sweet people that run the restaurant. Mimmo's is our favorite Italian Restaurant in Southern Illinois! Francesca makes all of the sauces with recipes from Italy. THIS is AUTHENTIC Italian food. They make their own pasta and pizza dough. Pizza calzone, Mostaccioli, baked Mostaccioli, and Manicotti are my favorite dishes. Pair them with the excellent side salad complete with olives, tomatoes and cheese & you get a perfect meal. Portion sizes are excellent! You get what you pay for & Mimmo's blows that "Italian" restaurant just off the square in Marion out of the water!!!!! read more

Honestly, the food is glorified Chef Boyardee. I ordered the chicken parmigiana sandwich and the chicken patty itself was not fresh but tasted cheap, frozen and quite honestly, not sure it was actual chicken. Quality and standard of the food would be okay for a school cafeteria, nothing that I would spend my money on for a nice dinner for the family. They used to have a jackass delivery driver in a red truck that drove like a complete maniac. I called and complained only to receive a rude response and pretty much told to get over it. I'm giving it two stars instead of one because they do make a pretty mean Siciliana pasta with either penne, spaghetti or tortellini. read more

We ordered carry out about 2 months ago and were very disappointed. I see the good reviews on Facebook and Yelp but I must say the food was close to slop. When I called to complain to the owner, she was very adamant that I was wrong. We ordered a chicken caesar salad and the salad had drowned in the dressing. The calzone sub was sloppy and wet and was a complete mess and the Mimmo's salad which was supposed to have "imported italian ham" was nothing more than small squares of processed ham you'd get at WalMart. the "mozzarella was packaged as well. The owners attitude was over the top and could care less that her customer was dissatisfied. The next day I stopped by during lunch to bring the food back and she was equally if not more rude and spoke to other customers about me in front of me. I left the food and will never be back. I lived in the Chicago land area for over 20 years and this is not, and I repeat not, good italian food. Yuck. I've waited this long to give this review because I am not accustomed to giving bad reviews but her attitude was horrid. I guess you can't teach old dogs new tricks. read more

Mimo's pizza is the WORST. Do not order from them!! My co-worker and I just ordered a cheese pizza for lunch. We were munching on our second slice when she found a hair in her piece. She had to REMOVE the hair from her MOUTH. When she called Mimo's to complain, the manager/owner argued with her for 10 minutes about the origin of the hair, ie. whether the hair was actually in the pizza or if it had come from one of us or if one of us had deliberately put the hair in the pizza. She wanted my coworker to leave work to bring the pizza back to the restaurant for her to inspect and determine the origin of the suspicious hair. Completely unprofessional. We are customers, not citizens on trial. My co-worker asked for a refund and the manager refused. Had my co-worker accepted the new "product" to replace the faulty one, we would have had to wait until 4 pm when the pizza ovens were turned back on. The manager was asked if she had a sign posted stating "No refunds" and she replied, "No ma'am, I don't have to." If you like crappy customer service, complete unprofessional and greasy pizza with possible hairs, then knock yourself out, but don't say I didn't warn you. read more
