There is one water access point but it wasn't working while we were there. No big deal, just remember to bring some up the mountain with you!

I reckon that's how Frank M. scored a site even when the sign said "campground full." I've never experienced anything so pathetic in my life. You could barely get wet, let alone wash yourself. It was like trying to shower under a dripping faucet in slow motion. I swear you could spit harder than the water came out. I left the shower feeling more dirty than when I went in. This wasn't just inconvenient--it ruined the stay. It's heartbreaking, because the cabin was otherwise amazing and the price was great. But if you actually need to bathe, don't even consider staying here. The shower alone is a dealbreaker.

What's more, the manager told us that we would not need a water regulator to hook up to city water. We did not hook up to their water, which was a good thing because when we turned the valve to fill a water bottle, it sprayed out under very high pressure. I do not recommend park. All of the spaces were dirt and gravel. There was no trees no landscaping at all and construction currently going on in the lot where the RV park is. Trust me skip this one. There are lots of other places around Hanksville to put your RV, including public land and big parking lots.

Of the three loops, two do not allow generators- heaven! The third loop is more RV centric. People come from all over, so you occasionally have to deal with campers who are unaware of any campground etiquette; same as most National Park campgrounds. The camp hosts are on the ball. Great hiking can be found, literally, across the street.

Good god. From I-70,…read morethe 23 miles of some of the smoothest dirt roads I've ever driven was also one of the most picturesque landscapes I've ever seen. I came to see the 2,000 year old pictographs but, honestly, the scenery simply blew me away just as much. I'm sure some of it was due to a confluence of factors: the time of year when autumn yellow and reddish brown tree leaves echo the colors of the towering canyon walls. The late afternoon sun amplified the colors and I was truly overwhelmed. If you want a mashup of the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, and a hefty dose of your favorite trees, this place is for you. The pictographs didn't disappoint, either. While somewhat faded, it was still an honor to see these magnificent images on the face of the canyon wall. Utah's reputation for treating Native American sites with respect is less than stellar. This site is no exception. Fortunately, preservationists repaired damage from bullet holes and other acts of vandalism. However, these images won't last forever. If you visit, respect the history and artistry. If I had known about all the hiking and camping opportunities in this area, I would have changed my itinerary. This is a special area.
