Mint chocolate and birthday cake icecream

What a hidden gem right off the main road. The shop is clean, spacious, comfortable, and they have live music almost every evening! Ample parking with seats outside too :) The owner is so nice and he runs the shop alone. Free coffee and water is served as well which is a nice touch, considering most icecream shops we've been to don't. The ice cream itself is delicious. Rich and PACKED with toppings (as you can see in the pic). You can really tell that the owner does not skimp on ingredients, and really cares about what he's selling. Not to mention he gives generous portions as well, very reasonable prices for handmade delicious ice cream! Highly recommend the Cookie Monster if you're a chocolate fan, but you really can't go wrong with any of the flavors!

Wow, such an amazing ice cream place! Really spacious place and extremely great ice cream! I got the salted caramel and it was so smooth and silky! They had a great limited edition flavor called Frankenstein with chocolate, brownie and chocolate chips. Highly recommend.

Not much to add to the excellent comments below. I don't think that anyone mentioned the serving sizes... huge! which is nice. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also, the place is actually named after a racing grey hound, Joeys Ice! As a dog lover and sight hound fan in particular, I was impressed![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We got lucky and were alone n the shop with Joey for quite a while. Had a great talk about the history and sadly the decline of dog racing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Another thing that no one really emphasized as much as deserved.... this place has a heavy bistro vibe. Best Ice Cream in Altus, hands down. Joey Ice Cream opened up less than a week ago, and I am wholeheartedly impressed by their quality of ice cream, ambiance, and service. I've been there twice since, and have been equally impressed every time. All the ice cream is made by the owner in-house, which explains the high quality product. I've enjoyed the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup, which was a spot-on description. My personal favorite was the Coconut, which contained ample bits of shredded coconut throughout. Overall, it was a happy surprise that I stumbled onto this treasure of an ice cream shop, and I'm sure they will become an Altus staple in time. read more

Joey has done a beautiful job with this place... so welcoming, roomy, tastefully decorated. BUT.... the gelato is OUTSTANDING!!! Can't wait to try other flavors! Handmade with ALL NATURAL INGREDIENTS, I had the best pistachio ever. Perfectly balanced. I tasted the chocolate... perfect dark chocolate flavor. So many choices it's hard to decide. Decided to give this a try rather than going to Braums as we normally do. We are so glad that we took the chance. Joeys has a relaxing and comfortable charm that is not only welcoming, but makes you want to stay and listen to the soft music. The hand crafted gelato and ice cream are second to none. Each creative flavor is hand crafted with love and it really shows in the product. This is definitely our family newest obsession. I tried the cherry cheese cake gelato and it's flavor is better than you would have expected. It's a perfect balance of sweet and creamy. We all hope that this place is here to stay! read more

This place is awesome! Some of the best variety in flavors I've ever seen from an ice cream shop. On top of the normal flavors we all love, they also had several really creative and mouth-watering ones. I tried the oatmeal cream pie ice cream, and it was delicious, creamy, and well-made. Joey was really friendly and seemed genuinely happy to chat with me. The store was clean, and there were tables inside and outside, making it the perfect spot to enjoy something sweet regardless of the weather. Truly an outstanding experience! read more

Great service - very friendly! Clean, simple, and inviting decor with options for seating at tables or couches. My family of 7 all tried different flavors of ice cream, gelato, and sorbet. The kids' scoop option was plenty for each of us and reasonably priced at $4. They make everything fresh in house. They even have live music several nights a week. Come on over! They didn't give me the number they said look it up online so I did and as we were going to our car, we got in the car the manager came out to my car and proceeded to ask why we were going to call corporate I said because y'all closed remember instead of de-escalating the problem he just escalated it more by coming out to my car and arguing while we are going to call corporate on them we said we would never eat there again or come back. That is my favorite place to eat and I will never eat there people don't need to be rude and work at a restaurant?

Husband and I decided to try their three scoop combo, with graham crackers and chocolate chips on top, and their bourbon caramel sauce. The ice cream flavors we got were coconut, cheesecake, and I believe something with peanut butter in it. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about their coconut ice cream, because generally, I'm not the biggest fan of coconut ice cream, but I severely underestimated it. Their coconut flavor was probably my favorite one out of all of the flavors! For the three scoop combo, I believe we paid like six or seven something dollars. While that may seem steep to some, like I said, we live in Austin, Texas, and things are quite expensive there. At some places in Austin, one scoop can equal anywhere from 4 to 5 dollars. So when we saw THREE scoops for 1-2 more bucks? Shoot, that was a deal for us. They have little tables outside you can sit at. And it's right across from the lake which is lovely. We really enjoyed ourselves!
