This is the BEST Recycling Business in Bakersfield. Not only do they pay the best, they take things others do not. The staff especially Billy (in pictures with my son Poppy and his friend Daniel) and the friendly helpful woman behind the window who hands out the cash! My son has Down's Syndrome as does his friend Daniel and they are so helpful and sweet to them Billy always remembers their names. In 2020 Graceful Giving Inc was formed as a California non-profit chairty. It's mission is help those living on the streets of Kern County by giving them colorful backpacks bags filled with high protein foods that don't require cooking. At first impression it was old and a bit hard to find, but once I got there and parked the attended walked over and gave me bins and instructions. After I got all my recyclables out 2 attendants helped me separate and they just sort of took over and took care of everything. Quick, easy, great and friendly service! horrible customer service phone lady is extremely rude and treats cu like crap.do not go here unless u want to be humiliated.

This was the first time me and my girls come to this business to recycle. Customer service was fine with the gentleman that was helping us with the recycling bottles but when I took the yellow receipt paper to the window the Asian Chinese looking lady customer service from the beginning was awful and unprofessional. When I approached the window with my girls I took a business card to look at it and my daughter wanted to see it I gave it to her then I took another one cuz my other daughter wanted to see it and the lady just reached her arm out the window and snatch it away from my daughter and said the business cards are expensive only take one. My daughter felt bad the whole ride home. She didn't have to snatch it off her hand like that. We are not coming here again! read more

I have been going to this recycling center for many years! I am happy that this place is still here since this was the first and ONLY place my daddy took me when I was a little girl trying to save up juice cans for a new Doll. Joey recycling is the worst recycling center I have ever been to. The girl that runs it told me at least 8 times in 15 minutes to not bring trash next time and next time I can't put trash in her cans, I only had a couple hand fulls of trash. Which I intended on clearing out already. She said I have to have all water bottles empty. She threw a bunch of bottles on the ground that had less than an 1/8th of a sip and had me empty them. I understand if there's water I'll empty it but it was ridiculous. I took an entire truck bed full which I usually get 50-60 dollars for. She gave me 27 dollars. This place will rip you off. And she was also very rude about it all. I will never go there again. read more

Well to start this place ishard to find tucked back in with the other businesses. I have gone there several times but recently on my last visit was the worst! I usually arrive with a truck bed full of cans and bottles. I also park to the side so I don't block their line of cars passing through while it takes mt a bit to sort my cans from bottles. The older woman and a younger woman who appear to be in charge both come over to tell me that "you need separate and crush cans at home"! Last time I check I was doing my part to get the cans and bottles to you, the rest is your deal. The overwhelming rude demeanor of the staff here combined with wanting the cans and bottles just a certain way is just too much. They don't appreciate their customers it seems. They are not the only game in town! read more

Very rude from manger down to lazy workers. One attendant rolled basket out me and told me to dump plastics in here. I asked manager why her worker is so disrespectful? she didn't want any questions, just name to move on. I will return to midway recycling and never go anywhere else. I haven't been to a recycling center in years on my own. Although I have been collecting to recycle, I had been giving my collections to my parents and letting them have the money. Well this time I decided to cash in and see how much I would be making for myself. I just looked up the recycling center that was the closest and this one popped up. I see recycling centers all the time but couldn't remember where any of them were at the time. Anyway, it was really hard to find at first, even though my GPS had said I arrived I was still looking and lost. I finally found the entrance and drove up to the attendant. He helped me separate my bags, they were all mixed with glass, cans, and plastics. After he weighed all my items separately, because each type of item is paid differently; he then pointed me to collect my money at the booth. I gave them my name, they had me sign and they gave me my money. I brought in 4 overfilled garbage bags, and collected $11 and some change. Lol wow, collecting recyclables is hard work if you really want to make some real money off of it. It made me think about how hard the poor and homeless work trying to find every bottle and can that they can find through everyone's trash. One man's trash truly is another man's treasure. read more

If you don't want to get cheated of your money don't go to this place. The greedy lady will remove pounds from your bottles or cans if she sees one drop of liquid in your bottles or cans. You need to dry your stuff before taking them there or else she will say "water. Water" as if removing every spec of liquid out of bottles and cans is possible. read more

Joey's Recycling is the best in a 100 mile radius of my house. They pay the best, they come to the car and unload the bags of bottles for you, and they carry them inside to weigh. All you have to do is go to the cashier, and sign for the money. read more

Got $10 less then I get on the east side for the same blue can that I use every time. I'll be going back to the places on union. They do get it out of the car for you but I don't think that's worth the 10 dollar different. Service would be a 5 star but price they give you would be a 1 star. read more

Terrible place to work with. Rude Asians who tell you "oh my god" and hang up on you when you ask how much they pay for recycling. I even called back calm and nicely to give them customer feedback and advice on how to deal with a customer and the public and was then told " what do you want again? I used Joeys Recycling for a while now, but this was the most horrific experience yet and I will never use them again. Knowing they close at 5, my son and I hurried over to recycle our recyclables and we arrived at 4:56. We were obviously there before closing, but the workers completely ignored me while I was waiting to be helped. They were waiting around until 5 so they could tell me to come back "tomorrow". So finally I went up to the bins and one of the workers told me I had to come back tomorrow and I was like REALLY you all stood there watching me while I was untying the bed of my truck and pulling out my cans and you know I was here before 5. Well as I was going back to my truck a little car drove up with a mexican guy in it and he asked me if they were still taking recyclables. I told the man apparently not because they told me to come back tomorrow. Well the workers asked the mexican guy what he had and took his recyclables. I honestly could not believe what I was seeing. The mexican guy they took was there after 5:02 and I was there at 4:56. My son asked me Dad why did they take him and not us. Well son this is what racism looks like. I recommend nobody use Joey's Recycling ever, Especially if you are a white person. Good job Joey's you just lost a long time customer and I will be spreading the word about this incident! Sadly, they would not let me submit one plastic bottle at a time. Each is worth $.05. I had three large trash cans and four extra large trash bags. In the past, I had taken this large amount to a center further away from my house and I received close to $90.00. At this center, I only received $47.00, but I was told, "I give you deal." So I took my recycles to Joey's recycling on White lane and before I could finish bringing in my bags the guy on the forklift is handing me a yellow post it. I asked him where's all my recycles and he said I already counted them. I said I didn't see anything on the scales? He said I counted everything. I said what do you mean you counted everything I want to see it on scale. By this time the second guy had already dump my stuff into the big containers and I got 28 bucks for all of my recycles. I get a big feeling that they pocketed a lot of my money and that's how they work at joeys recycling! I tried to argue my case as I was taking the pictures that I wanted to see my stuff on scales and they said they were too busy to put it on scales and that's why they counted. Sounds shady to me that were counting bags and not putting the bags on scales. Do not go to Joey's recycling on white lane unless you're willing to give money instead of collect money doesn't pay to recycle at joeys! He said they were busy today and that's why they didn't have time for scales yet it was me and another couple that were there. That's busy? They attempted to do the same thing to the couple behind me, but they said hell no we want our stuff on the scales to. read more
