One can easily spend hours in here with the wide variety of food, drinks, and shopping options. To top it all off, there is an absolutely stunning garden on the fourth floor with ample seating and complimentary WiFi. I can see myself just posting up there and getting work done, reading a book, or just relaxing. Only downfall is that all the washrooms are on the fourth floor and with how the escalators are set up and small elevators, it can be a pain to get up there. There were a few escalators that were out of service when I visited as well. Overall, phenomenal shopping center that I will definitely be visiting often while here.

Also did a little shopping and even stopped at the Telus store for some Iphone troubleshooting. The Mall is a nice spot. Plenty of natural light from the ceiling windows. It was busy, but plenty of space to move around. Everyone was behaving themselves, adults and kids alike. There is good variety of stores to shop at. From anchor department stores, technology, clothing and personal wares. The gardens are a nice feature too. Very relaxing to stroll through and check out some of the current blooms.

The District is the latest of Calgary's attempts at the 'food court fine dining' concepts seen in…read morecities with a far more established food scene. Six counter-service spots in one large room, seating available at the counters/at longer communal tables/restaurant-style tables for 2 to 4. It's certainly ambitious, boasting projects from some of Calgary's more well-known culinary names. Ambiance is questionable, like they aren't sure what they're trying to do with it. It's rather dark, which seems to clash with the food hall concept at large, but the light fixtures are pretty and the colours and design of the whole place together is attractive -- just a bit confusing and at odds with itself in context. Walking in sees a strip along one side. First, Takori (by Duncan Ly of the nearby Foreign Concept restaurant) with pan-Asian-Mexican fusion offerings of the taco and burrito variety. Their crispy chicken skin dish was one of the most intriguing offerings and it looks promising overall. Past that is Oishidesu offering ramen, rice/poke bowls and a fair few appetizers; there are a few locations around the city. Roy's Korean Kitchen (by its namesake chef who runs its flagship in Mission and also headed the now-closed but much lauded Anju restaurant) has some of the more refined dishes in the hall. We noted several tables trying out their Korean chicken sliders but were attracted to such menu items as the soy maple brussels sprouts & congee. Finally along the strip is Modern Burger. The most familiar name to the casual foodie, this branchoff of Modern Steak and Modern Ocean restaurants is a classic burger and shake spot with a bit more potential to empty your wallet than the McDonald's down the street. The centre of the hall is occupied by the remaining 2 food counters -- Shrub Bloom cooking up a somewhat random menu of vegan dishes and its neighbour Greenfish (by Darren Maclean, driver of Calgary's true fine dining scene with Shokunin and Nupo under his belt just to name a few) for 'sustainable sushi'. We can only speak directly to the quality of the food at Oishidesu, which is where the experience truly fell flat. First we discovered that several items on the menu were unavailable and that the employee wasn't even aware they were supposed to be offered. The prices seem excellent if you're a habitual eater of ramen/donburi/poke (all under $15) but the reason for that became clear when we received our half-filled bowls, and even clearer upon digging in to what were strikingly poor-quality vegetables and fish. Corn had no flavour and seemed to have been tossed into the bowl from a recently thawed Green Giant bag. Salmon in the poke was discoloured and hardly recognizable as fish in its flavour. Pork and sauce in the donburi were good, but since we finished our dishes in about 10 bites, it was hard to get a great assessment of everything. The District has potential and certainly set itself up to thrive. Hopefully its big names can back it up over time. For now, we'll wait awhile before returning, as they aren't even settled in enough to provide everything that they advertise on the written menu, let alone provide the quality and refinement that is expected.

The Core Shopping Centre, the largest shopping complex in downtown Calgary, is directly connected via Plus 15. The distinctive crowns on the buildings resemble cowboy hats when viewed from afar. Bankers Hall West is topped by a gold roof & the East building's crown is in silver. A white cowboy hat has long been an iconic symbol of Calgary, being portrayed on the city's flag, and presented as gifts to foreign dignitaries by the civic government at "white hat ceremonies". Inside are jewelers, dentists, chiropractors, coffee shops, restaurants... we enjoyed lunch at Earl's in Bankers Hall.

We took one to the next level but then we went to where the up escalator would be but it was going down. So, we ended up taking the elevator up. Going down, found one down escalator and then just walked down the next floor on the construction stairs. Didn't look at any of the shops at all. But the food court was not busy and lots of seating for 2PM. We had our choice of Subway, Asian fare, Greek food, and burgers. We got our food and found a booth seating. It was clean and comfortable. The restrooms were nearby and they were clean.

This is a review of the Market Mall Alberta Precision Lab in the Market Mall Professional Building…read more If you need blood work done, I highly recommend you go in at 5:30 pm during walk-in especially if you have children and need numbing cream. You'll get treatment you'll never forget. I went in on Friday to get my child's blood work done. I came early (5pm) as the numbing cream needed time. Walk-in was to start at 5:30pm.I was paged on my phone at 5:28 pm. I went in and went to the desk. I waited until I was acknowledged by the man in the dark green shirt. He was at the counter (no one at the desk). I explained I had been paged but needed some extra time for the numbing cream to work. He did not give any eye contact, shrugged his shoulders and was arrogant and passive aggressive in his replies. I politely asked for more time for the numbing cream to work. He shrugged his shoulders. He started getting red in the face, his body was shaking and he was shuffling papers. He got angrier and more agitated the more I asked questions, like "does the numbing cream still work if it has not been on the required time?" He said, "How do I know?" and "I don't know anything about numbing cream." Calmly, I told him I would return to the lobby where I was instructed to wait, and waited longer. No one came and got me for my bloodwork. A female patient leaving the office, came to get me. The staff and the other lady at the desk that the manager was with a patient, then that there was no manager. While I was in the lobby, the lady staff member came out with a lady not in scrubs. This might have been the manager. I took my children to the lobby to wait for our ride. I didn't see the man from the lab come down the elevator so he must have taken an other route. He sat in the lobby, texting on his phone. As he left, I told him his behaiour was unacceptable.' I have worked with problematic behaviour as a career, lol. He yelled back, "I am not working right now so I don't have to be nice to you" as he came close to us as he was exiting by the front doors. My daughter was frightened. Thanks to the two wonderful strangers who waited with us outside until my husband showed up. More photos to come & updates. If you need blood work done, I highly recommend you go in at 5:30 pm during walk-in especially if you have children and need numbing cream. You'll get treatment you'll never forget.

The staff seemed to only care about their phones while we were trying to check in to the ridiculous app. Not sure who's brilliant idea this play area waiting app was but it's having the opposite effect that they were after I'm sure.
