We heard so many good things about this place & decided to give it a try . We went around 2 pm and it was nice and quiet with 2 tables with customers enjoying their orders . Not a lot of dining tables for large groups but you could do Take out too . We ordered the Deep fried mushrooms and the cod dinner of 3 pieces with fries & 2 pop . The mushrooms were served first & piping hot and delicious! They served them with a tasty garlic mayo and a Ranch dip . The plate was huge and we ate half & had to take the rest home . The cod platter had so much fresh cut fries and not frozen type . The 3 pieces cod was quite large & my husband & I had 1.5 split between us . We ended taking half the fries home with us after . A fresh bun, lemon wedges & a side of tasty coleslaw came with our meal . Easy access to ketchup , malt vinegar to enjoy with your order . We ate inside as we wanted to enjoy it fresh & hot . This place is great ... I would come back again ! I've never been served such a generous portion of French fries . The service was excellent & they were so friendly ! First of all, the owner (or one of the owners) is super nice!!!! The fish is quite good, and they are extremely generous with their fries. If you don't want to waste food and want to save a bit of money, I'd suggest that if you're two or more people, order one dish and add extra fish. One portion of fries can easily feed two or even three people. read more

The food is served in takeout boxes (even for dine in). Cash or debit only. We had the Captains Catch for $35 it has 3 different pieces of fish 5 shrimp and 4 scallops, comes with fries and coleslaw, house made tartar and seafood cocktail sauces. easily enough for the two of us we couldn't even finish it. Tonight we ordered the Family Catch which comes with a MASSIVE portion size of the juiciest, flakiest, perfectly battered premium cod, halibut, pollack; jumbo scallops and jumbo prawns beautifully battered and deep fried to perfection. The family size gravy is delectable and creamy crunchy coleslaw to polish it all off. I LOVE the fresh French fries. Perfect portion sizes for a big family! The resturant is accommodating for large families who'd like to dine in as we did, and extremely kid friendly. Their menu boasts so many options that as we were leaving we ordered lunch for tomorrow, Sticky Rib dinner. The owner and cooks all deeply care about their customers and the product going out. They are very giving and honestly the only Fish N Chip stop in Calgary that deserves many accolades for the food they putting out each and every meal. Me and my family went to this joint after hearing positive things about it online, I ordered the one piece Pollock? Is that how you say it? It was mostly breading and the fish was not too good itself, others ordered the cod which was apparently better. Coleslaw had no flavour and there wasn't a whole lot of sitting space, given maybe 3 tables packed to the brim with people.. the two staff on was an older lady along with a guy in the back, both were amazing and the guy in the back REALLY knew what he was doing, props to him!! The fish and chips are the bomb at this restaurant. The fact they are affordable tops the experience. This cozy little place is always busy and for good reason. Their food is well worth trying. So, we hit the restaurant on a bitterly cold evening and took a small table far away from the door. It took a bit for our order to be up but when it was it was worth it. Now ... we hit a bit of an adventure just after we finished up our meal. Something got burned in the kitchen and due to the weather the smoke had nowhere to go. Did the new incoming people care? Well this spot had been a family owned burger place for years now it's fish and chips which was lacking in the area staff was friendly and always busy ether prepping or cleaning. The fish was great the fries a little over done. Gravy is expensive for the amount provided. All in all if you're looking for a quick fish fix this place works well. read more

Had a nice meal of Haddock and fries one week. The next week we ordered the "special" with fish, scollups and shrimp. Scollups and shrimp stone cold, fries dry and cold, fish overcooked. And the coleslaw was delicious the first time and inedible the second. read more

Unfortunately we had a very poor experience. I ordered a 1 piece cod dinner and my husband had a 2 piece. The tiny pieces of fish inside the insane amount of thick batter was definitely not worth the money we paid. There was also a long black hair in my poutine. They forgot the coleslaw and tartar all together. We were super excited to try this place as my husband is from Newfoundland and this looked legit. I visited Off the Hock today and was very disappointed. An order of Haddock and fries was $18 dollars and when I asked if I could swap out the fries for salad the gal at the front said yes but it will be an extra $4. I decided to passed on the salad and got the fries instead and when the order came the piece of fish was so small I couldn't believe it!!! Not worth the money at all. I won't be back. read more

We had 1 piece fish and chips and fish burger. When asked if the burger was a piece of fresh fish or a frozen patty the girl taking our order had no clue. Generous serving of fries but we came for the fish which had no flavor to it, very bland. The fish was about the size of a McDonalds hashbrown patty, very small fish portion. Came with half a bun, which was pulled out of a bag from the grocery store and cut in half (store bought factory hamburger bun) The fish burger was on a garlic hamburger bun, but it was definitely not good garlic butter, tasted like fake garlic butter, not sure what they did to it. Normal hamburger bun off the shelf. Tartar sauce was not good and was also extremely bland. Cook came out to ask if we had the gravy, we said no, and she said oh I wanted to know how it tasted as I think I made it wrong???? She's the cook!! This meal cost us $31. Was not worth the price, and we would not go back. Not a lot of seating, and when we went to pick the order up at the counter, someone took our table. It was fairly clean though. Everything came in plastic containers and plastic forks and knives. Lots of parking. Again would not recommend and will not return. Much better places to go for fish and chips in Calgary.
