They are kind, knowledgeable, and supportive, but the front office and administrative side has been consistently frustrating. The administrative staff is disorganized and unprofessional. They frequently mix up appointment times, give conflicting information, and make even simple tasks feel unnecessarily difficult. They don't use email or an online portal to send updates, test results, or appointment confirmations, which makes it almost impossible to keep track of anything. Everything has to be done by phone, and the communication is often curt or dismissive. Another major frustration is that any time I need bloodwork, I have to schedule a completely separate appointment with a third-party lab instead of being able to do it in-office. This makes routine prenatal care far more inconvenient than it needs to be. I really wanted to have a good experience here, especially since the clinical care from the midwives has been positive, but the front-office management has caused so much stress and confusion that I'm choosing to switch practices. I hope they improve their administrative processes and communication in the future.

The office staff takes ownership of my questions/concerns. Gets answers and stays courteous. Dr. Abell advised me to have a procedure, under general anesthesia. As with many things related to female reproductive health my concern were the lab results. Dr. Abell is generous with her time, well informed and shared with me that while the results could be problematic, she'd seen four cases of the thousands she'd performed over a lengthy period (I don't remember, 5 years, 10 years) were positive. That changed my outlook from bracing for the worst to expecting the experience to be unremarkable - which it was. The remarkable bit is how wonderful have been my interactions with every member of the team. I wish every physician shared her approach. I can't say I'm looking forward to my next visit - she is a gynecologist but, I trust I'm in good hands and will be treated well.

Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Dr. Pinheiro. My surgery was scheduled a week out, and today's pre-op appointment was supposed to prepare me for it. After waiting 30 minutes on telehealth, I called the office and was told she had an emergency C-section. I completely understand emergencies happen, but I was never called, no voicemail was left, and this was not the first time I had an issue. Out of the four appointments I had with her, she was more than 20 minutes late to two and didn't show up at all for the last. When I spoke with the manager, I explained that I felt nervous and uneasy about moving forward with surgery because I hadn't been able to go over what labs/test needed to be done. I felt brushed aside as a patient. Instead of reassuring me, I was told Dr. Pinheiro was willing to pass along my records to a new provider. I was still willing to proceed and was scheduled to speak with her, but right as I logged in, the manager called back to say Dr. Pinheiro was no longer comfortable performing my surgery because I had expressed discomfort. In other words: if you speak up for yourself, this doctor may refuse your care--even if you've been in pain and bleeding for months. That is exactly what happened to me. I now have to start over with a new provider while still in discomfort.

He diagnosed and treated 2 rare health conditions --one exceedingly rare to the point that maybe 20 people in the world had what I had. I was going crazy before Dr Ramirez helped me. I originally found Dr. Steen prior to pregnancy after doing my research with recommendations and reviews. I saw all three doctors at Main Street OBGYN throughout my pregnancy. Dr. Steen ended up being the doctor on call toward the end of my labor and delivery. Like most moms, I went in with a birth plan, however, I realized that things could change. I ended up on Pitocin. At one point during pushing, Dr. Steen asked if I wanted to up the dosage of Pitocin, to which I responded no. My husband later told me that he observed Dr. Steen directing the nurse to go against my wishes and increase the dosage. During such a vulnerable and painful moment, it was important to me to feel that my consent and decisions were being honored. Unfortunately, they were not.

Which is so great if your someone like me who needs details for assurance :) Delivery of cesarean went really smooth and he did an excellent job on the incision and surgery in general. He kept a light fun attitude during the procedure which helped keep nerves calm. So far my recovery has been much easier this time around than with my previous cesarean from another doctor. He may disagree but he offers his opinion very kindly and in a manner in that makes you think, rather than feeling slighted or judged. I walked in to his office thinking I would have to ration out every reason I believed I had PCOS and he cut me to the quick recommending we do the testing to see what was going on. He seems to have compassion for his patients, which is something I didn't experience with my last OB. Also, the wait times in his office aren't bad at all. You may wait 5 minutes to get into an exam room but they are very quick.

Regardless of how busy Dr. Ghiai was, she always came into the exam room with a smile, the patience to listen to any and all of my concerns, and, mostly importantly, superior knowledge to confidently provide answers and the support I needed. Also, shout out to Michelle, Dr. Ghiai's Medical Assistant - She's lovely, helpful and gave assurances at the times when I needed the them most :) Luckily, Dr. Ghiai made it just in time to deliver my baby girl and I'm so thankful she did! Honestly, I would've been a nervous wreck if it had been any other doctor besides her (although I'm sure St. John's has great Obstetricians) but it just speaks volumes of how much I had grown to love her and really wanted her to be there for the "grand finale" of the pregnancy!
