I waited a full year to write this review because Dr. Lara assured me that it could take that long to see results. Unfortunately, after all this time, I've seen no changes whatsoever--nothing close to what she promised. This experience has weighed heavily on me, and I feel compelled to warn others to prevent anyone else from enduring what I went through. Last year, I underwent a procedure with Dr. Lara, which quickly turned into a nightmare. She was completely unprepared--the equipment malfunctioned, and her staff, instead of helping, were distracted on their phones. I was also given the wrong pre-op medication. What was supposed to be a three-hour procedure ended up taking nine hours, filled with excruciating pain, during which I cried out, but Dr. Lara ignored me. The room was dark, stiflingly hot, and far below any acceptable standard of care. After the procedure, I suffered from severe vertigo and permanent hearing loss in my right ear. According to another medical doctor who examined my case, the hearing loss was due to lidocaine toxicity. Dr. Lara even asked my pharmacist friend, who was there for moral support, about lidocaine dosing during the procedure, which was terrifying. Getting a follow-up with Dr. Lara was nearly impossible, and when I finally did, she admitted that they were unprepared and should not have proceeded with the procedure. This negligence left me with permanent injuries, but no positive results--only scars. The Medical Board should seriously investigate Dr. Lara and her practice. I don't want anyone else to go through what I did. This doctor played with my life, and I will never forgive her. For your safety, please stay away. read more

This review is solely regarding the front desk receptionists, which in my option plays a HUGE role for a private practice because they are the first point of contact whether it be on the phone, scheduling a new patient appointment, of actually in person- for when a patient is visiting the office for the first time. I was in between insurances therefore scheduling my yearly appointment was a must. I should have seen the red flag when I called to schedule my new patient exam, because of the way the receptionist answered the phone-cold, unclear and uninviting (needless to say she had horrible phone skills). After what seemed to be 20 minutes we finally books my appointment 3 weeks out. Whoa. Upon arrival to the office, there was no body at the front desk, it was so quiet I thought they were closed. Someone walked out from the back and just said rudely, "you have an appointment?" I couldn't believe her attitude and how rude she was. After she gave me the new patient paperwork- she continued to eat her hot Cheetos at the front desk, ewwwwww- red fingers! To make a long story short, this office needs a serious Front Desk Receptionist rescue, and I pray that it happens soon because the doctors here are nice and the office has potential. read more

Please do not consider liposuction from this Doctor!!! I went in for a consolation for a little lipo suction on my abdomen, she tried to convince me to have lipo from the front to the back consisting of six separate areas to create an amazing waist line, regretfully agreed to three areas on my abdomen. After the procedure I was in excruciating pain for 2 weeks, she prescribed antibiotics n steroids for the pain n swelling. After 3 weeks all 3 incision ports were huge and painful she prescribed another round of antibiotics. It has been 8 weeks, the scars are huge and bumpy! One scar is the size of a quarter, one is the size of a dime and One is 1 1/2 in long by thick. I've been completely botched and I'm so embarrassed to admit I did this to myself !! It has been a year and I still have multiple infections at my port sites after my procedure. Not only was I informed that Dr. Lara lost her medical license in the state of Massachusetts but that she is on probation in the state of California as well. I have the exact same outcome as others on here that have the lumps under their port sites, open wounds, etc. She has told me that I had ovarian cysts, then to have an ultrasound and my new doctor explained to me that it is literally impossible for a doctor to feel ovarian cysts during an exam. After consulting with my attorney he informed me that this woman should not be practicing at all with her record. Please be aware. read more

I held off writing this as I wanted to give my surgery adequate time to heal. Now over a year later, I feel that enough time has passed that I can confidently state that my surgery has fully healed and I can give a honest review. My initial impression of the office was poor-I was kept waiting for an hour and a half when I had an appointment but Dr. Laura was friendly and accomodating once she finally met with me. We were able to overcome the initial frustration and I went into the appointment excited and hopeful that she could give me the results I wanted. I wanted this surgery to help with some excess fat around my stomach area and had purchased a Groupon for one area to be treated. I ended up paying for another couple of areas which was fine as I wanted the results to be spectacular. It was painful and healing took a very long time, but when I returned a couple of weeks later for my follow up exam I as pleased with the amount of fat that was taken out and how small my midsection appeared. I was hopeful that the bumpiness would even out, as she said it would, and left excited that the results were seemingly great. Unfortunately, I was left with a bumpy mess once I fully healed. My stomach was never bumpy before, it was smooth even with the excess fat on it. Not any longer. I had followed the instructions diligently and did everything they I could to get the bumps to smooth out, but they never did. I am now left with areas that are visibly indented, bumpy and caved in. I have went to two separate plastic surgeons that both gave my the same prognosis-that the fat removal was too aggressive and that I would have to go through additional surgeries to fix the work that was done on me. Both were able to point out multiple areas that too much fat was taken off and areas that were not properly smoothed out. I am now left spending an additional $6000 to fix the damage and am working with a plastic surgeon that specializes in fixing botched plastic surgery jobs to get my stomach looking somewhat normal again. Even though Dr Laura was friendly and the office staff nice throughout the procedure, it doesn't change the fact that my stomach is now a hot mess. While the seemingly low cost of the procedure lured me in, I will end up spending almost $10,000 after I get the work corrected as well as have to go through another painful surgery. In retrospect, I would have never done this procedure if I would've know that this was going to be the end result. I am hoping that these words of caution can prevent someone else from making the mistake that I did so do yourself a favor, go to a real plastic surgeon who specializes in lipo and do not get lured in by the low prices that they offer. Its worth the money and will save you lots of frustration at the end of it all. read more

I saw Dr Lara when I first found out I was pregnant but I learned that she lost her hospital privileges and cannot deliver any babies. During my visit she made me extremely uncomfortable, she was talking and moving around the room a million miles a minute and had no sense of personal space because she repeatedly kept trying to hold my hand while she asked me questions about myself not even related to my medical appointment or history. I have a feeling she pays Yelp through advertisements or something as they keep removing people's negative reviews including my own. Let me just start out by saying I absolutely LOVE Dr. Lara! She makes you feel so comfortable and welcomed. She is extremely thorough when explaining every step. I was extremely nervous about going in because everyone had tried to talk me out of doing anything to my lips. Although I already love my lip shape I just felt like my top lip wasn't proportioned correctly. I went in knowing nothing. I had a few friends who had previously gone to Dr. Lara for what is called a "lip flip". I walked in and was welcomed by the young man at the front desk who was extremely friendly. I was then taken back by the assistant (I don't know if that's what your called so I apologize) who was so sweet and friendly. I felt so comfortable as the assistant explained everything and prepped me with numbing cream. After a few minutes Dr. Lara walked in and acted as if I've met her a million times before. She explained how I had a perfect lip shape and that she suggested I start off with a lip flip rather than fillers. I couldn't be more happy with my results! I have received so many compliments! I've already started referring my friends and others to this location just because of the amazing experience! It is subtle, but still able to tell a difference. Need a new IUD this year. Went for my annual exam in January, was told the IUD would be ordered and I'd be contacted once it's in. Skip to March, no response. I call the office and was told they'd look into and give me a call back. Skip to May, no response. I decide I'll call one more time. I was told again they'd look into it and give me a call back later that same day. To this day, still no response. When I did see Dr Lara in January, she was nice and made me feel comfortable. But it was hard to get a word in. Also, she no longer accepts insurance. So if you do have insurance, instead of her office staff working with your insurance carrier to pay claims, you'll have to do it yourself. All disappointing, for sure! read more

I was in a vulnerable place in my life when I went to get botox injections with Lara. She was so friendly and talkative about her boyfriend and their future plans to open a day spa. And mentioned she was going to start liposuction and that she had been to classes in a state i can't remember at the moment. That she would give me a great discount. I arrived apparently after hours. The room where the stomach lipo was to take place was dark except for a dim light shinning on my stomach. She jabbed the liposuction wand around. The medication given must've worn off as it began to hurt. Her assistant said thats enough. She continued even more forcefully. End result was a worse looking stomach than when i went in..My belly button drooped on one side, lumps and and indentation. I was so upset I consulted an attorney. He said i signed an agreement and there was nothing he could do. She must've known this. Feel bad about not speaking out sooner. I was in the medical profession for over 10 years. During that time I had the privilege to work alongside Dr. Adrienne Lara. Her demeanor was always pleasant. She has so much compassion for her patients. Not too long ago I started following Dr. Lara on Facebook. I have been wanting to get lip injections for sometime but wasn't quite sure on where to go and who to trust. As soon as I found out that she did the Juvederm lip injections, I booked an appointment immediately. Upon entering her office, back in July, I felt amazing energy and tranquility within the setting. Her office staff greeted me very warmly. I walked back into a room and consulted with Dr. Lara on what look I wanted to achieve. She made her recommendations (which I trusted completely.) The end result was something I couldn't even imagine. I was ecstatic on how my lips looked! I felt like a goddess! At 39 years old, having fuller lips definitely makes me feel younger. I went back to Dr. Lara for a second injection a few days ago because I wanted more of a pouty lip look. Once again I couldn't be happier. I would highly recommend Dr. Lara for any kind of aesthetic needs that her office provides. So blessed to have her in my life. Do NOT go here! I repeat DO NOT have any services with this doctor! Dr. Lara seems like she is very nice and professional and you can trust her but that is far from the truth. I believed she would give me the results I envisioned because she said everything I wanted to hear. Boy was I wrong! I had liposuction done 6 months ago and I wanted to write a review because she said it would take this long to see full results. I am now left with looking like I had nothing done with my incisions completely visible and bumpy. I don't even feel comfortable showing my stomach because they are so ugly looking. When I showed Dr. Lara this at my post appointment she recommended doing an OPUS procedure to help with the lumps and scars. I had no numbing cream called in until the day of. The office was running late. And the procedure hurt and made my skin so irritated for nothing. That dumb OPUS she recommended was a waste of time and painful. When I told her it didn't change anything she got very rude and offensive, not the nice doctor I seen at my consultation when she wanted my money! I am minus $5000 with BAD results!!! Look at other reviews that mention this and believe them. Because I believed Dr. Lara and I was so wrong about my outcome. I'm very disappointed. Today I went to my appointment at 2:30pm to get my lips dissolved and a little bit of cheek fillers. I am very upset that Dr.Lara did not want to dissolve my lips. Even though I told her over the phone I want my lips dissolved and she said "yes we can do that." I told her I just want them dissolved I don't like my fillers anymore, and she responded "why? But why they look so good. How about we put some more fillers on your top lip to even it out?" I told her no. Basically she wasted my time and money because I only ended up getting my cheeks done but I wanted my lips dissolved that was the number one goal for me. Keep in mind that she is the one that has been doing my lip fillers for years I just can't believe she couldn't dissolve them. What a waste of time. Apart from that I waited an hour up until 3:30pm to get my cheek fillers. I would hear Dr.Lara and her assistant talking outside of the room saying "I don't want to dissolve her lips, let's just do her cheek fillers." How do they not know I can hear them? It's just astonishing to me that cheek fillers are $500 now when 2 years ago it was around $400. Anyways now I have to look for a doctor to dissolve my lips. Do not have liposuction from this doctor. I am disfigured because I had liposuction on my stomach area from this doctor. My stomach is so lumpy I can't even look at it. After following instructions and doing my research with the Dr on how to heal properly my stomach was horrible lumpy. After healing from lipo I expressed my concern to Dr. Lara about how disfigured my stomach looked. She asked me to come back so that she could "fix" it. Why would she want to fix it if I was the one who didn't follow instructions.? I was so happy at the thought of having it repaired. I ended up with a bacterial infection (which I did not cause and is still tender to the touch 3 years later) . I told her the area of the infection was tender and she said it had nothing to do with the infection it was because I had cellulite in that area... (which I didn't) My stomach us very ugly and lumpy and I cannot afford to have it repaired with a board certified plastic surgeon. Please save your money and go to a legitimate plastic surgeon. If you're considering lipo from this person prepare to be botched. I've considered going on the t.v. show Botched but I feel so embarrassed by my stomach I don't want anyone to see me. My life has been saved by Dr Adrienne Lara it is just that simple. I cannot understand any of the reviews other than 100% positive. Dr. Lara was performing an exam and did not think what she felt was right. To make a long story short, she ordered additional tests and found a rare aggressive uterine cancer. Cedars-Sinai Cancer Center top surgeon, Dr Ilana Cass, operated to remove the cancer and related tissues, which they are using for research. I am now in chemo and radiation. Dr Lara continues to care for me. She encourages me every day during this terrible battle. With her help I will kill this cancer and live for many more years. The world class medical professionals at Samuel Oschin Cancer Center at Cedars-Sinai cannot believe how Dr. Adrienne Lara found this illusive cancer. I do: Dr. Lara is a very well trained, intuitive doctor whose skills exceed the majority of the local Ob-Gyns in the area. Her staff is incredible. If someone having a bad day, encountered a moment when the office was totally packed and felt they received less attention than they felt they deserved - - it was probably the day she was holding my husband and my hands explaining I had cancer. I am now rewriting my review giving her a lower star. In the year of writing this review I have had 2 people message me to take my review down. So now I'm re writing to clarify some things. FIRST, I went to Doctor Laura to see her as an obgyn not Lipo or whatever she does now. She did tell me she could not deliver my baby and me being young and uneducated I did not know that was not normal. She made it seem like she had this great team who does it for her. NOT because she was sued for malpractice and was NOT ALLOWED IN ANY HOSPITAL. (You can easily look this up) once I looked it up myself I got pretty nervous about everything and switched Doctors. SECONDLY, there were a lot of things that happened and a lot of miscommunication along the way. She constantly had to recheck every test she did on me. They had me thinking I had hep B so I constantly had to take tests and get blood draws (her front desk called me at 8p.m to tell me I might possibly have hep b). Every test had to be retaken for some reason which had me thinking it was easier for her to get money because my insurance would cover it. And last, I switched when the miscommunication got in the way. I was about to graduate and on my graduation day they called me to tell me I wasn't keeping up with getting my blood drawn and RETAKING my glucose test and wasn't "complying" with them. Then texted me saying I needed to call them back and reschedule my appt for the third time..... She rescheduled the 3 times. I was a high risk pregnancy and it had been a month since I had been seen and she was going to have me reschedule again. THATS NOT OKAY! Before my due date I moved because of the constant not being seen and I had I Doctor look at me that next week and said that there was no reason for the retesting and that I was in the clear. Needless to say that is now my doctor that I go to for everything and delivered my now 11 month old baby girl. like I said before in my original post she's not some terrible person. She's a doctor that got sued twice for malpractice and is looking for more ways to make money and expand her work. It's not bad but there's a lot of things she needs to work on. read more

I used to love this place and Dr Lara a lot she used to listen to your needs and care about her patients. But this last time I went, it took an hour just to be seen. I waited 30 minutes in the lobby and 30 minutes on the table in the paper gown. Then when she finally came in to see me. It took 10 minutes to do my exam. I could tell she was rushed and it made it seem like I really didn't matter. Then I had to wait another 15 minutes for the nurse to come back and take my blood pressure.
