Can you see the scar? Barely? Yup he's that good!!

Seriously, Dr John Miyano is the person you want for your hand surgery needs! A couple of my friends have had their hands worked on by him and really have the most complimentary things to say about him. He has a calm, attentive nature, and really listens to all your concerns. I have been dealing with a very annoying carpal tunnel issue on my right hand. I mean I had all the symptoms, numbness, tingly, pain, dropping things etc! I finally thought it was time to re-address the issue. I met a Dr many years ago who sent me to therapy and had me do all those at home hand therapies, wear a brace etc. It was time to take care of this, and get some relief. I know surgery is the last thing a lot of want to consider, but in this case, I was tired of it! Dr Miyano assessed my right wrist, had me do the usual tests, and determined that it was time to do it. He wouldn't recommend this if I didn't need it, but since I have been dealing with this issue for over a decade it was time. He also promised me that I could return to work in 2-3 days! I don't do a heavy job, or physical one, but I am constantly on a computer. I did not book the surgery on the day of the consultation, because I wanted to research it more and also make sure I can fit it in my work schedule. When I finally did schedule, the ease of calling and getting everything in place was so smooth. I credit Christina for really taking care of my needs, and listening to my concerns. She was also so patient in helping me with my hesitation about getting this done. It was such a relief to know that she too went through the same procedure I did. I think that makes a big difference. She also has the best professionalism, yet friendly and is very sweet. They make a great team! On the day of my surgery, Dr Miyano was still the same as he was when I met him. I loved that he sat with me for a bit while we were getting getting ready for my surgery in the OR waiting area, also when we discussed my concerns about the anesthesia with the Anesthesiologist. The surgery was easy, fast and smooth. After I came too, he was surprised how chipper, and happy I was. My hand was swollen of course, and I developed a heat rash since I chose the hottest days in June to have this done. I was able to use my hand immediately for somethings like typing, and eating, but no heavy lifting over 5-10 lbs for the first week. You don't realize how dependent you are with your dominant hand until it is out of order. Thank goodness for my hubs, he was such a wonderful caregiver. Anyways, I would highly recommend Seattle Hand Surgery, and Dr Miyano for you hand surgical needs! I will probably be back for my left hand in the future for sure.

Saw another reviewer mention a failed surgery with Keem and that "complications occur," as if this…read moreisn't what so often happens with Keem (I've met people who've known physical therapists who work with numerous butchered Keem patients at a time) - so I'm back to update my review. This is a placeholder until I type out another banger lambasting Keem for being a terrible surgeon. Keem told me my artificial disc migrated - in actuality, a team of Virginia Mason neurosurgeons investigated, and found the disc was installed in the wrong place (which took a while to diagnose, as Keem refused to release intra-operative imaging for close to a year). Entire steps of my surgery were skipped. And he lied to my face about it - and to the Polyclinic ... just before mysteriously leaving his cushy position as their sole spinal surgeon. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Keem is a lazy, incompetent butcher. I still experience daily pain and take daily pain medications after what he did to me as a young athlete. He mysteriously vanished from the Polyclinic after multiple government investigations of my surgery, including a winning ruling by the Washington state AG's office because Keem was double-paid by both me and my insurance, and his office said I'd have to sue him directly to be reimbursed. He's corrupt, and a liar. After some time floating around, it appears he's been hired by Swedish. They should be ashamed of themselves - I reached out directly to share the results of my surgery. Clearly, Swedish doesn't care about the longevity of their patients, or keeping them safe, functional, and pain-free. Keep in mind that this man has a long and extensive history of "complicated" surgeries, as well as kickbacks into the millions from the manufacturer of the only artificial disc he installs. (They also cover fusion equipment, etc.) I could find no other surgeon who only uses equipment from one company ... let alone ones paid by them on the side. More corruption to the absolute core. More coming. I have other reviews for him in my profile, including one in which I caught him leaving himself a fake positive review. Don't be fooled by this slimy, unctuous guy who has a long history of leaving his patients immediately post-op to go get paid by Medtronic while they suffer through permanent and life-changing complications. Expect a PA to see you for your first post-op appointment (dangerous and insidious scope creep, going against all advice of the American Medical Association), and expect them to misread your imaging and gaslight you about your pain because they have no idea what they're talking about. This is an established pattern of Keem's. If Keem has 5,000 haters, I'm one of them. If Keem has 1 hater, it's me. If Keem has 0 haters, it's because his rotten surgery finally killed me Lmaoooo. If Shakespeare knew this guy, he'd call him an egg.

I'm 52 and totally understand the complications and risks with this type of surgery. I felt what could go wrong went wrong. The problem with a lot of people is they do not understand that when something goes wrong, almost all of the time it has nothing to do with the surgeon performing the procedure. Things just happen. Dr. Keem has always been professional and straight forward with me as well as the staff that works around him. I knew the risks and accepted what happened as part of that but Dr. Keem is great. I'd go to him again (this was my second procedure with him...the first being 7 years ago). The staff at the surgery center was amazing. All of them were great compared to my previous visit. I'd like to give a huge shout out to all of those who cared for me but the one that stood out the most was Morgan. She seemed so much of a real person than a robotic nurse that i had experienced with my previous surgery. She was easy to talk to and seemed relatable to my life experiences. Again...all of the nursing staff was amazing this visit but Morgan stands out the most. Thanks again.

I haven't had much, if any, neck issues since then. And even if I get some flare ups, I feel confident to resolve that with the exercises he's given me, and it resolves within a week (usually less). I recently started having really bad lower back pain for about the last 1-2 months and I finally made an appt to see him today. Zach gave me such an informative rundown on the root issues and the assessment was spot-on to my bad [posture] habits. He assured me in the way I needed it and again gave me the proper tools and exercises to feel confident that I can tackle this. I left feeling much less stiffness and tension in my lower back bc he spent some time loosening it up and adjusting my back. Can't say enough wonderful things about the guy and his knowledge. I spent time and money on traditional physical therapy and was prescribed painkillers, repeating the same cycle for almost 7 years with no real relief. She did not give two Sheets for what she did to screw me over. I used to be fit, tiny, exercised all the time. Fast forward to - Post hip replacement. I'm Effed! I NEVER had the issues prior to hip replacement that I have now. NONE! Immediately after surgery I knew something was wrong. And I TOLD her so! I am a 5'4" 110 lb woman who has always been healthy and fit. Now? Now, I can barely run a mile or let's be serious, put on my socks or underwear without pain lifting that leg she operated on. Post-op, all she did is repeat ad nauseum that I need to "heal." I am 47!!! I am FIT and HEalthy! No health issues. She undermined me and treated me like I didn't know what I was talking about. My life has never been the same. That was 2019. Fast forward to 2025. Still curse her name for dismissing me everytime I came back hoping for post-care and answers. She actually tried to sell me PRP which was going to cost me MORE money out of pocket that insurance won't cover and has an extremely low success rate. Never would have fixed the issue she caused which is called, IMPINGEMENT OF THE ILEOPSOAS TENDON! Several doctors later diagnosed me. Again, if you go to her and your surgery is a slam dunk, well her ego is satisfied and she is a "good surgeon." But, ask yourself this, what happens when surgery "isn't, a slam dunk?" What then? Medicine is a practice after all, which is why they call it that. What IF IT DOESN'T go as planned? IS SHE the surgeon you want? READ THE REVIEWS! ALL OF THEM! The reviews that are favorable are the ones who's surgeries went well. When they didn't (and let's be clear, not all will go perfectly), how did she and her team treat you? What solutions were offered? Was there ANY ACCOUNTABILITY? And I mean ANY? What about the kindness!? NONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate my life now. And it's because of her. I could have gone to anyone!!!! She is full of herself and only wants a patient she can handle. She NEVER tried to call me or check back on Anything! NOTHING! There are so many ortho surgeons out there folks. Do ALL of your vetting and think CAREFULLY!

But as you see, I have Dr. Schwartz on that list to whomever asks me about a great shoulder-guy. (I work in the electrical industry; we get a lot of shoulder and knee problems.) Anyway, I was warned by my coworkers who've gone through similar shoulder surgeries about all the post-surgery problems, mainly pain and recovery I will encounter. Not true after my surgery with Dr. Schwartz. Yes, your mileage may vary but the worst part for me was having to wear a sling. My pain was minimal and recovery was very quick. (I had the full-meal deal; rotator cuff and bicep reattachment and I guess my collarbone had to be shaved.). Dr. Schwartz was very patient and actually listened to my concerns both pre and post-op. He explained everything from my injuries, my upcoming surgery and what to expect afterwards. He's pretty proud of his work, even showing me a video of my surgery. And his staff was awesome! I liked his work so much, I had my other shoulder repaired three months after my first.. this shoulder's recovering fine as well. One thing to note: getting something surgically repaired is not like taking your car to the mechanic. You can't expect to just go take boxing lessons after you leave the shop. It takes time and a lot of physical therapy to properly heal, as Dr. Schwartz told me on my very first visit. Follow your post-op instructions handed to you and actually DO your physical therapy routines and you'll be fine. So if you're looking for a really great shoulder-surgeon, "I gotta guy...."
