I hate going to the doctor or taking meds. Hate it. Thankfully, I don't have to take anything on a…read moreregular basis. I prefer alternative methods, but I've had my share of visits here ... The staff: The front desk staff have greatly improved their demeanor and are more kind when greeting patients. I don't like coming to the Doctor, so the last thing I want is a receptionist with an attitude problem. So big ups on the improvement. The Doctors: Some listen and take their time and some try to get out you out of the office asap (I've experienced this when bringing my mother to some of her appointments). I get it, they are busy and problems can become routine for them, but really? Settle down Doc. We waited for you over 45min, give us at least 20min and our co-pays worth. Also from my experience as an advocate for myself/mother: SPEAK UP. GET SECOND OPINIONS. If there is a particular Doctor or Surgeon you want, fight for it-don't let the staff that schedule them dictate who you will see. It's your healthcare. You are paying for it. You decide. Take control.

With this said, I am sorry to say it is not improving. I am thankful that we finally know what is wrong, but treatment & care have been so limited by politics, education, protocols & money that me, the whole patient, is not longer considered. My specific point of review is Dr. Katherine Glatter, heart specialist. In the course of dealing with her she has lied to me, told me to ignore side effects of medications & finished with me when i didn't complete the protocol for the specific issue for which I was being treated. The reason I didn't complete it, it was a protocol that would not have helped me but for sure would have diminished my quality of life if not ruined it. The reason I say she finished with me is that I have been experiencing anxiety, a side effect of two of the prescriptions she prescribed, but instead of helping me with it, I have to wait over a month to see my primary physician. This is a problem caused by the protocols she is following so she should be the one to fix it. We The People need to demand the abolishment of the ACA & kickbacks and demand clarity from hospitals and doctors.

If you're looking for a new doctor, look somewhere else. Dr. Turkot is not going to provide the…read morehealth care that you need. My experience with her has soley been with the care that she has provided to my mother. When my mom first went with her she was prediabetic and not needing any medication. Once Turkot became her doctor she started pushing pills on her. Starting her with high dosages of Metformin and other prescriptions. Even after doing the A1C test her levels were not high enough to be on medication. My mom took the medication because it was prescribed by someone who studied medicine. When my mom complained about still being dizzy, nauseous, and tired. All Turkot would tell my mom is that she needed to push back from the table. That these side effects is due to her being over weight. When my mom did lose weight instead of telling her to keep up the good job, she was told again to push back from the table. On her visit to Turkot about a month ago she complained that her left arm felt numb and that it felt like there was a rubber band wrapped tight around it. Instead of being concerned Turkot acted like it wasn't a big deal. Just about everyone knows that when it comes to your left arm there should be some kind of concern. Especially since that arm can is basically the first sign that someone may be suffering from a heart attack or stroke. All Turkot told her is that she is experiencing pain because she is overweight and that once she loses weight her arm will not be numb any longer. Flash forward to yesterday when she goes sees a specialist. Since my mom's arm is still numb two months later the new doctor said that she suffered a stroke. All of the medication that Turkot has prescribed three of them my mom doesn't need. My mom has high blood pressure, but Turkot didn't prescribe her any medication to help treat the blood pressure. Also my mom is now experiencing kidney failure. Instead of noticing and listening to the signs that my mom was telling her, Turkot just told my mom to drink more water. That she didn't need any water pills to help her get rid of the swelling in her foot. Her foot is so swollen that at times you can press upon her foot and your fingerprint leaves an indent. To help reverse the kidney failure the specialist has prescribed my mom new medication where she has to inject herself 4x a month. The prescription is $200 out of pocket. Looking back I regret that my mom was assigned to Dr. Turkot. She doesn't have a good beside manner and it seems as though is in bed with the pharmaceutical companies. She is always rushing barely spending ten minutes in the room with my mom. When my mom complained about her "good" foot being in pain, once again she told my mom to push away from the table and to lose weight. Luckily, my mom talked to a podiatrist and they got her in. Turns out that she broke a bone in her foot. After getting x-rays and her foot in a cast she was finally able to get on the road to recovery. Just think about all the damage she could have further done to her foot if she listened to Turkot?
