Driving out to the northeast brought out a ton of old memories. I used to play golf at John F. Byrne across the street as well as sled there when the snow came. Driving up to the clubhouse of the Donald Ross designed course the bag attendants are ready with a smile to take your clubs and directions anywhere on the property. Upon making it into the locker room the locker room attendant quickly offered to shine up my shoes and showed me to a locker I could use for the day. The locker room is a double deck all brand new with 12" shower heads to wash away those bad swings after the round. The pro shop staff was a treat to interact with from start to finish. The help they showed in the pro shop was top notch and the products they offered were equally top line, really nice swag here. Now, the golf course is where that last star was left off. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice course, tees are perfect, fairways are well defined and mostly in good shape, bunkers are a dream to play from (both fairway and greenside) rough was heavy in some areas and light in others but the courses real challenge doesn't come from the tee or fairway, it comes from the greens. These things are hellacious. Being long of the pin to start your day on 1 and 3 is a death wish! I genuinely didn't believe a putt would stay on the green on 3 (because it didn't on 1) so I gave it a little nippy chip down the hill that nearly stopped half way down and even still, I was 15'+ coming back! There's some overly challenging undulations here that weren't a big deal back in the 1890's when the course was opened since they couldn't mow the grass this tight, but with today's maintenance standards there's some serious challenges here for the everyday golfer. Besides this the course plays very fair throughout. You can be a little wild off the tee and still have a chance to score which is nice. The banquet staff here and the food was superb. All of our dishes were served correctly and the staff took great care to deliver plates from the proper side as well as clear them at the right moment and from the proper side as well, that's a nice touch. My Filet was perfectly cooked and the crab claws were so fresh, it really was a nice dinner. Overall I can see where the club wants to be, a premium club that does everything very well and that it does. The staff they have assembled is 5* start to finish but the course needs a little tightening up in some areas throughout, a few bare spots, some overly heavy rough next to some very light rough, a couple large dry dirt patches in the field of play but it's a great place to call your home course as you will certainly be tested every time you tee it up and your guests will be thrilled with the service they receive, just don't forget to keep your ball below the pin!

Played twilight 9 holes on this course for the second time yesterday--played full 18 holes last…read morefall--it was chilly and a little wet. But the overall course wasn't in bad shape for the weather conditions we've had recently. Last fall when I was visiting I didn't have my clubs, so rented a set from the clubhouse...definitely wasn't expecting a "top of the line" clubs, but definitely wasn't expecting to get "third world country" rejects for $25 /day rentals. And that is what I received, a complete mix match set to make due. Overlooking the fact of the clubs, I had a day of enjoying time with my son playing a round of golf for his birthday. So, yesterday he returned the favor and we played 9 for my birthday. But yesterday I used a set from his friend--which was better that using the house clubs--the 3 of us got the 9 rounds in as it got dark. The course should be in better shape once Spring kicks in.

This is a great course. It has an interesting degree of difficulty, but it's not overly…read morechallenging. The pace of play can be a bit slow. Several hills making some par 4 holes blind and par 3 holes challenging. The layout is nice, but unfortunately there are many times golfers trade fairways based on poor shots. Women have a nice advantage of having the tee boxes in the less hazardous areas. On the par 5's such as the first hole, the ladies tees are quite a bit forward. Overall the fairways and greens were in great shape. The staff was very friendly including the starter who was also very organized and helpful.

I had another guy say the same thing happened with the same "pro shop" guy. There are so many other courses out there and better treatment of customers too.

Great old classic course set on a very pretty price of rolling land. The name rolling green really…read moresuites the course well. It's a beautiful tract of rolling hills that you play through. A great mix of long and shorter holes and the greens are superbly contoured and offer great rewards when you know where to hit the ball! They were rolling very fast when we started play but they did seem to slow up noticeably as our round progressed which was probably due to the excessive heat we had when we played. Tees, fairways, rough are all clearly defined and in perfect condition. Rarely are you set up with a completely blind shot and the rough is accordingly penal when you get very wild off the tee. Bunkers are all pretty even and maintained very well by the staff and caddies, nothing like ending up in someone else's Unraked bunker, that doesn't happen here. Speaking of caddies, ours was professional very friendly but took a few holes to get the hang of the distances we hit the ball but once he did he was dialed in. Not sure if it's club policy but as a forcaddy, he carried around everyone's putter without headcovers. I can't do that as dings don't settle well with me so he kept the cover on mine. The food in the restaurant was very good and the waitstaff was really attentive, it's definitely a 5 star club and one worth playing over and over again!

Putt shack was a fun after work activity ! I went with a…read morefew friends for a Happy Hour event. It is a big place with a separate area for the mini golf and a separate room with a bar. The bartenders were great! The cocktails were delicious! The wings were also tasty! We had a lot of fun playing mini golf. Your mall is chipped so it automatically keeps score. The holes have bright colors and each one is different. This is a fun group activity!!!
