However, the Sinick dentist told me I needed a dental implant after spending about a minute with me, with zero explanations, and their treatment plan was a very large amount of money (over $7,000) I got a second opinion. This dentist spent much more time with me, actually showed me the x-rays, and offered less expensive options such as a bridge that Sinick did not. Additionally, the cost of the implant was less. I can say that staff always review cost with me prior to initiating any treatments - and yes I've had fluoride treatments as an adult I was told my insurance would only pay a portion and I made the decision to do it. This office never pushes unnecessary treatments for me. I came from another big box dentist (Dentalworks) where I was given a whopping 4K dental "plan" that included nearly everything under the sun. I have never had that with Dr Kirlough or his staff. They don't recommend unnecessary braces for kids either. I have been very happy with our experience at this office. We no longer dread going to the dentist. Dr Kirlough is the bees knees at administering Novocain too. I don't feel a thing - and that's beautiful.

Both dentists are very kind, gentle and proactive. I always feel like I'm in good hands and that both dentists make good recommendations for my dental health. Even though it can be difficult to go to the dentists, this practice makes it a lot less stressful. i have also heard them work with young children, and they are kind and gentle with them. The problems began after Dr. Esterberg retired and Dr. Cartwright took over the practice. At my regular checkups, Dr. Cartwright repeatedly told me that I needed THREE crowns due to fractures in my enamel surrounding some aging fillings. I'm in the 40's and have never had any previous dental work, except for fillings. I'm also a cancer survivor and concerned about long-term affects to chemo, which they say could cause nerve/root damage. So, I thought this may be the reason for the alarming need for three crowns. I moved forward with having Dr. Cartwright replace one tooth with a crown. The experience took two separate attempts that spanned over 6 weeks because the porcelain crowns from the lab wouldn't fit. However, the second crown, which also didn't quite fit, was made to fit by hand-shaving part of the porcelain AND part of the perfectly good adjacent molar to make my bite more comfortable. During the 6-week long ordeal, the temporary crown popped off repeatedly causing me to come back and forth to their office to have it reinstalled (or remade) so I could tolerate eating and drinking in the interim. Following this long, drawn out experience, I was very reluctant to move forward with the other two crowns. I decided to get a second opinion from another dentist and it turns out that I DIDN'T need two additional crowns, after all - only filling replacements. Had I listened to Dr. Cartwright, I would have lost two perfectly good teeth AND paid a pretty penny in the process. Needless to say, she lost my trust and I'm no longer a patient. This is all very unfortunately because my children and I thoroughly enjoyed dental hygienists Ursula and MaryAnn, who provided us with exceptional, friendly care for than 10 years when Dr. Esterberg owned the practice.

Dr. P. and his team took time to ease my fears. When I needed a filling, Dr. P. was patient while I was having difficulty getting numb. After each lidocaine shot, he gave it a few minutes to kick in, and then checked with tools (and not the drill) to see if I could feel anything. When he and I felt satisfied that my tooth was numb, he began drilling. I didn't feel a thing!! He did quick and neat work in filling my tooth. All staff members are pleasant and polite. The office is clean and up to date. I highly recommend Dr. Pivovar and his staff without reservation.
