I worked remotely with John on a consultation for my drum studio acoustic treatment. I live in San Diego county. He made it real easy to help create a design to achieve my acoustic goals with all their different product choices. I also had them install all the panels which includes free delivery! The installers were great, quick and provided a pro install meaning, clean, spacing, level with testing before and after. They also allowed me to ask questions and showed me how the mounts work in case I need to remove and reinstall in the future. The end result was an incredible acoustically dead room as I requested. I had a great experience with JHA. I went over what my studio would need over a long video call with John where all details were discussed. I would highly recommend John's services! I had been struggling with echo issues. I couldn't listen to music or sing without getting a headache within an hour. Since the studio treatment, which was 8 month ago, I haven't had any problems with that. I am able to work all day and my ears won't be tired. I chose Dulce(Glow) color and after 8 months it is exactly the same as it was on the first day. It doesn't attract dust which is very practical. It feels like my room has become bigger than it felt before the installation and I think it is because of this color. It also looks so beautiful and stylish. I had been following the JHA instagram for quite some time, and when I just recently moved to a new space I decided to give John a call and set up a consult to get my studio right! John & Victor came by as soon as I got the keys to my new place and we had a very thorough walk-through / consult. At first contact, they seemed OK. I received two estimates from them. The price was slightly higher than others I had previously received, but I overlooked it because he seemed nice. Some time had passed because of life issues and I reached back out to see if they were still available to do the job. They then told me their prices had changed. So, I asked about just doing the installation for already purchased acoustic items. He told me they could for $??? an hour, minimum 2-hour charge (and the charge was actually OK. I expected slightly higher). Which I was 100% fine with. THEN.... he tells there would be an additional charge of "the same price for them to load up their truck with the tools needed and drive to the location"!!! WHAT??? So... you want to charge me to get to do the stuff any other company does as a normal process? And then try and give me some lame excuse about "that's a regular company and we're a contract service" GTFOH!!! Be leary of shady business practices like this. Don't be swayed by illogical reasons why you should have to pay more for things that are just part of a technician's normal prep procedure. I ought to know... I was a PC Service Tech for over 25 years with my own practice and for major companies. NEVER did I or the other companies, charge a client for me to put my toolbox in my car!! That is beyond ridiculous and shady!!! If you want to get more money out of a client... at least have the decency to hide it in the labor charge like other money-grabbing companies; and NOT insult a person's intelligence with ridiculously, illogical, lame reasons for charging someone to put the tools in your truck you need to the job you are being hired for! The initial analysis did miss a spot behind the mixing desk, where there currently are some resonating high frequencies, but we plan on resolving this issue down the line.
