I had a great experience working with Matt at Axeman Guitar. Realizing how short life can be, I am unquestionably having my mid-life crisis at 50 years old. Not having played for over 30 years, I bought an ESP Kirk Hammet KH-602 and an ESP James Hetfield Iron Cross and a Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier. I couldn't decide between the guitars, so I got both! Setup of a new guitar - especially with a Floyd Rose is a challenge. I couldn't be happier with Axe Man Guitar Service and the work Matt did to my Fender Telecaster. I play a fairly broad set of styles (60s rock all the way to occasional death metal) so I asked Matt to set up my tele with action that would suit both standard and drop tunings as best he could (using 10 gauge strings). I figured going in that neither would feel quite as nice as my initial factory setup in E standard but it would be a good compromise. Well, I was wrong and Matt really did an excellent job- my tele now feels better in BOTH D and E standard than it did with the factory setup for just E standard. I can even play in c standard without too much headache or wobbly strings. This one guitar now does everything I can throw at it with very little compromise! I was recommended Matt from one of my fellow band members. One of my strats was having electronics misbehaving. His workshop is out of his garage so I wasn't quite sure what I was getting into. But he had enough high quality equipment that people dropped off and he was very laid back so any unease was put to rest. I haven't played guitar since before Covid due to health issues and other reasons. My guitars have sat inside their cases for the last 4/5 years unplayed with the strings on tight pulling in the truss rod.
