At the beginning of 2025, I was involved in a car accident when another driver ran a red light and totaled my vehicle. Jennifer had always been a source of trusted advice for me, so when she recommended John K. Zaid & Associates, I contacted them immediately instead of researching other attorneys. Unfortunately, what followed was an extremely frustrating experience. After signing with the firm, I was assigned to attorney Michael Caruso and a case manager named Samantha. Over the next several weeks, I attended chiropractic appointments, underwent MRIs, visited doctors, and received treatment for pain related to the accident. Despite all of this, I received virtually no communication from the firm. After more than six weeks without any updates, I had to repeatedly contact Samantha just to speak with my attorney. When I finally spoke with Michael approximately eight months after the accident, I asked for an update on my case and what type of compensation we were pursuing. Instead of providing clarification, he rudely told me that I "shouldn't expect to get rich off this case." I was not asking to get rich, I simply wanted to understand where my case stood and what to expect moving forward. A few weeks later, I discovered that my case had been transferred to another attorney, Eduardo Kosturakis. No one clearly explained why I was being reassigned. What was initially described as a process that would be wrapped up within a few weeks turned into another four to six months. Once again, communication became nearly nonexistent. I had to repeatedly call the firm just to obtain updates, and even then, it was difficult to speak directly with my attorney. At one point, my case was pushed into litigation because I was dissatisfied with the lack of progress. The attorney who contacted me from the litigation department was unprofessional and questioned me about the accident in a manner that made me feel as though I was being accused of lying or somehow being at fault. Throughout the conversation, he repeatedly referred to me as "sweetheart," which I found condescending and inappropriate. When the case finally settled, Eduardo called to inform me. I specifically asked that no medical expenses be finalized without first allowing me to review them. That request was ignored. Instead, I later received a call from accounting informing me that my settlement check was ready for pickup. I drove from Houston to their office near NASA and was greeted by a receptionist who asked whether I was picking up a check for my daughter. I found this interaction unprofessional and careless. When I reviewed the settlement paperwork, I discovered charges that I had not previously been given the opportunity to discuss, including approximately $200 for prescribed Aleve and around $180 for an Icy Hot cream that provided little to no relief. At that point, I needed the money and felt I had no real choice but to sign and accept the check. In the end, I was left feeling disappointed and taken advantage of. My vehicle was totaled, I accumulated significant medical expenses, and I believe I received far less compensation than I deserved. Throughout the process, I dealt with multiple attorneys, numerous case managers, poor communication, constant delays, and a general feeling that I was inconveniencing the very people I had hired to help me. I will never use this firm again, and I hope John Zaid takes a closer look at how clients are being treated. I'm rating these losers a Zero ...this clown I hired John K Zaid ...to handle My Lawsuit for a Major auto collision & for the extreme injury to My abdomen that needed emergency surgery ...as well as an MRI that found 4 herniated discs in My lower back.....Zaid took the case around August or September of 2019 and was recommended... by My ..Chiropractor Tim Hughes out of Texas City, Texas but at the time... i didn't know anything about John K Zaid & so-called-associates, other than being coerced into taking him at such short notice and Tim Hughes and Ginette Childress told Me oh John K Zaid is a good lawyer...Tim has used him many times but just like i thought he turned out to be pure trash. Unfortunately, my experience has been deeply unsatisfying and fraught with issues. From the beginning, the firm was slow to handle my case, lacking clear and consistent communication. The process of arranging my treatments and managing the legal aspects of my situation was frustrating, characterized by unnecessary delays. The urgency and attention I anticipated were noticeably absent. My dissatisfaction escalated when my case was referred to Basu Law Firm without a noticeable improvement in service. I faced discouraging comments from various staff members, suggesting my case wasn't valuable enough to merit the necessary treatments, including a vital second epidural injection. A particularly disheartening moment was a scheduled meeting with an attorney from Basu Law Firm, which I attended only to find the attorney absent without prior notice. This not only wasted my time but also highlighted a lack of respect and professionalism towards my case. BEWARE! MY CHECK BOUNCED!! Please believe all of the bad reviews you are reading. I only wished I would have read these reviews prior to me using this law firm. Like so many others I was referred to this firm by another firm. It has been by far the worst mistake I've ever made in my entire years of living. The customer service is horrible. There's no sense of urgency. The communication is horrible. They try to wait you out and make you desperate to accept any offer. Don't do it! They had the at fault party make the check out to them and not the both of us which is uncommon. When I was paid, I was paid with a check from John K Zaid firm's account and the check bounced! Please please please read the reviews and make an intelligent informed decision and save yourself the time and trouble. I will be filing a police report with the Houston Police Department for "issuance of a bad check" and I will also file a complaint with the "Texas State Bar" know your rights! No contact from them unless I called them. Never got to speak with a lawyer, only employees, never heard a word from lawyer. I called them on Jan 17, to ask why I hadn't been contacted. I was told by 2 separate employees that the decision was being reviewed and an attorney would contact me. I have both names. I called again on Jan 28, and stated they just made a mistake. I got angry and asked for options for which the Paralegal only said, have a good day to which I responded that was totally unacceptable and worthless. I hung up. read more
