This used to be a great practice when Dr. Kelly was my doctor. They now say Dr. Kelly is no longer there but the name of the practice still has his name. Now you can only see a PA unless you agree to have surgery. Only then will the doctor see you. The PA a few days ago gave me two injections what was supposed to be cortisone. I believe it was just sugar water. No effect of cortisone which I have had many injections in the past. No numbing effect no pain relief. Only two bad bruises on my hand where the needles went in. I am waiting to get a satisfactory answer from them. They said a PA would get back to me on Monday. I'm not going to hold my breath. read more

I loved this Dr 5 yrs ago but once I healed I wasn't good. 3 Drs have told me to go back to the surgeon that operated I shouldn't have problems already. One was Dr Kelly colleague in Anaheim. He said to get Dr Kelly call the office and tell them you need to see Dr Kelly about a surgery he did. It was over a month for a appt with Dr Kelly as a returning patient. I arrived at 11 am and was left in a exam room for 2 hours. I saw them turn away a patient for being 10 min late when I arrived and there was no one waiting in the huge room. A PA pops in the room says he will be seeing me today and just let him wrap up his lunch. I'm so mad but figure it's not the PA fault. The PA says your leg isn't straight but your knee looks good to me I can offer cortisone shots or a brace. I said I'm back because a Dr In Anaheim said to see Dr Kelly if I'm having problems that's who I want to see. The PA says every doctor in this office will agree with me you don't need to have another surgery. I've given you options you don't want. I was so insulted I just waited time making appts, driving an hour, waiting for a PA on lunch. The Dr who operated doesn't care about you he care about seeing new patients. 7/2020 I broke my wrist almost the same day I break my leg in 2014. I was afraid I'd get Dr Kelly so I changed insurance, changed primary Dr, waited 3 weeks and im referred back to Platinum Medical aka Dr Kelly.!!!!!!! My new primary Dr doesn't seem to think I should be so picky. Was not willing to send another request for different ortho because he said they are all in the same office. I contacted ER and Urgent care and they can do my exrays & casts. I need to bring cast supplies or use ace bandages they have on hand. I'd rather drive 5 minutes to the ER wait hours to get a cast vs drive 1 hr, wait 1 hour and probably not see a Dr in Dr Kelly office then drive 1 hour home. read more

I timely arrived at the office for my scheduled appointment with Dr. John Kelly. Upon seeing the large waiting room full of depressed and lethargic people, I immediately realized the office had overbooked appointments. When this happens in a medical office, it is usually a business practice to maximize revenue at patient's time expense. Minus one star. I waited almost two hours before seeing a doctor other than John Kelly. Since the referral was for John Kelly, this substitution was a delegation of duties without requesting patient consent. Had I insisted on seeing John Kelly, no doubt the current appointment would have been abandoned with me having to set another appointment for a future date, probably not soon. In the appointment, it was resolved to submit an expedited referral for an MRI to determine status, with the expedited referral to be processed by the insurer within 3 days UPON RECEIPT of the referral. Having heard nothing, I followed up with the insurer over a week later to discover that the referral still had not yet been submitted, which of course negates the point of an expedited referral, doesn't it? From memory, it took their office 13 days to submit the "expedited referral". After time and inconvenience on my part, I caused the MRI referral to be processed. Had I not done so, who knows how long it would have taken. I later called this office and asked for a copy of the office consultation records to be mailed to me. It was promised, but never done. At the MRI procedure at a separate medical facility on 10-10-17, I was informed that an MRI report would be sent to the office of John Kelly who will contact me for follow up (including whether I need surgery or not). Having heard nothing for a month, I called John Kelly's office today (11-10-17) at 8:34 am to follow up and spoke to a snippy receptionist (Amy). I asked why the office consult records were never mailed to me as promised and Amy asked whether I submitted a release. When I asked why I was now hearing for the first time about a release, Amy disconnected the call. At 8:39 am I called back and told Dominique I was following up on the status of the MRI report, and wished to speak to the office manager. Dominique stated that "the office manager has not quite made it in today" but she would send an email to her. When I stated my displeasure about being hung up on by Amy, Dominique disconnected the call. Having not heard back by 10:00 a.m., I called back and spoke with the office manager. She further annoyed me by evading my questions. She said the MRI Report was placed in my file and nothing further was done. REALLY? When I asked whether their office was ever going to contact me to follow up, she disconnected the call. Next I phoned the MRI facility and learned that the MRI Report was faxed to the office of John Kelly on 11-13-17 at 3:41 pm. So there you have it. They deserve zero stars but they will get one star as the lowest score possible and therefore equivalent to a zero (i.e. "methinks not"). I note many prior one star reviews though I expect they are laughing all the way to the bank. read more

For Anaheim office Positive: Doctor Khan, PA Sadia, and MA Vivian: very personable, nice, speak plain language, and know how to listen. Negative: front staff lost all of my paperwork. Apologetic, but delayed me until I wrote everything again. Appointment date pushed back because of insurance company. Story: went in early March with bursitis. Was getting a quick appointment until they learned my insurance; I was then given an appointment an appointment weeks away (21st). [There are other reviews that confirm this practice of giving further-away appoints for Cal-Optima.] I did the paperwork while I was there (so I wouldn't have to come early and do it today). Then, they asked me to step aside (while making the appointment) so they could "quickly check someone out." That person became four. I had to interject: "you were helping *ME* first. You asked to check one person out, but now I'm waiting for four? No, I waited and shouldn't have: finish with me." She made a sour face and asked the line if she could "stop to finish with him [me]." Jump to today: they lost my paperwork and made me wait while I finished a new packet. [Ashley E.] I protested, reminding them: this was their fault, not mine: I have a disbled wife waiting downstairs for me and we weren't anticipating such a delay. They took me back in less than 2 minutes. From there, it was better. The M.A., Vivian, was very nice even offered to write-out the paperwork (I have nerve damage in hands). Very nice. Then Adrian took me to X-ray. 5hen the P.A., Sadia, came in l. Also very nice, listened to what I said carefully. Then, Dr. Khan came in. Very nice, amiable, listens well. We discussed options. The best option was taken: no unnecessary drugs, situation is resolving itself, so let the body work. Surgery if necessary, but currently: no action needed other than a brace and limited motion. Did not push pain drugs. The front staff can't tell me what happened to my paperwork. HIPAA-telated PHI\PII is "out there" without knowing where it is. My identity was stolen a couple of years ago, so I really have a problem with this. Vivian said she'd report this to her manager (I believe her); the manager never came to see me. So the doctor's rating suffers because the staff f*cked up. read more

I have had so much issues with this location. The staff is so uncaring and at times rude. They have told me multiple times that they will call me back to update me and they didn't call. There has been multiple times where i waited on the line for about 20 minutes and when it was my turn they just hung up on me. I am so fed up with this place. One of the worse providers out there! If you have managed care/ Medi-Cal, his office wouldn't even give you an appointment with him but with his PA only. If you are willing to wait to see him, they would make you a ridiculous long wait up to 6-8 weeks+ and then call you to cancel the appointment less than 16 hours before your appointment with him. Instead, the office would offer the next day appointment with his PA. His office practices bait and switch, totally immoral. If he doesn't want any Medi-Cal patients he shouldn't even be on the provider's list. He NEVER had the intention to see any Medi-Cal patients himself but just wanted his PA to see those low reimbursement patients but still collect the insurance money from the health plan. I was very skeptical when I came to my appt with all the negative reviews I had previously read. I simply asked a respected MD in the area his opinion and he said he is great! I said but the reviews Doctor?!? He said " ya what doctor doesn't have a bad review... people don't make time for good reviews So I came and was seen by Dr. Grieshober from the beginning to the end I was pleased . I don't know how Dr Kelly & the office have a 3 star review. Honestly my experience here has been the best and not to mention he is my 4th doctor that I was transferred to. The other prior doctors all canceled on me last minute because none of them wanted to deal with my issue even after I was already scheduled for surgery multiple times. On my first day there Dr. Kelly thoroughly explain my condition and suggested me the best option and assured me that he will take care of me until I am fully recovered and also answered all my questions I had in details I understood. Something all the prior doctors lacked. I am so glad I chose Dr Kelly. And the medical staffs are very professional and welcoming compared to other offices I've been to. They took care of me right away when I needed to get recasted even though they were very busy. Clean office, great doctor, awesome medical staffs. I can never ask for more. I had read some of the reviews here and was unsure at first if I should see Dr. Kelly, but I'm very glad that I did. Upon calling the office, and every other time I've called, the staff on the phone were very kind, professional and extremely helpful. This did not change when I was at my appointment all of the staff worked diligently to assist me in everything I required. Dr. Kelly himself, met me with a smile and a handshake. Listened to everything I had to present about my knees and how they are impacting me, he advised me on every possible procedure that he could perform, but did not pressure me into any of them. Dr kelly removed a synovial(ganglion) cyst from my left wrist about 5 months ago but the cyst is growing back again! Now I have both the surgery scar & the cyst. He told me if I do the surgery there will be no recurrence! He should have not given me the wrong prognosis about this surgery. If I knew that the cyst is going to grow again I would never have accepted the surgery. read more

I was a little hesitant after booking my appt and seeing the low ratings but my experience was awesome. I had an appt and was only waiting maybe about 20mins before being called in. I was here for wrist pain that i got during my pregnancy and Shaun the PA recommended cortisone shots I was extremely scared because my experience with needles has not been pleasant and i didnt come mentally prepared either BUT he made me feel very comfortable and talked me through the procedure. I'm happy I went through with it because I came in with level 5/10 pain on my left wrist and it felt much better immediately after the injection but like he said just like a flu shot it could be sore and tender and it definitely was for a day. I woke up this morning (5/27/16) and thought about working out my legs today. That then lead me to think about how thankful I am about my knee surgery back in April of 2008. I decided to google Doctor John P Kelly just for the heck of it and couldn't believe some of the One Star reviews on Google and Yelp so I decided to write this. I'm one of those people who never really writes reviews but I felt inclined to do so now. Eight years ago Doctor John P Kelly performed a knee surgery on my left knee. My ACL, medial and lateral were all torn. I remember the staff being really friendly, and my surgery went VERY well. My rehab during the following 6 months was perfect and my knee got a lot stronger. And today my knee feels great and I've been able to work it out with no problems. Obviously my surgically repaired knee isn't as flexible as my other knee (probably my fault for not stretching it as much as I need to) but everything else feels great! Ive been playing basketball again the last 8 years and have had no problems! Thank you Doctor Kelly for fixing my knee. I am VERY thankful! FIVE STARS! read more

I'm not sure how the reviews for this office are so drastically different (odd), but I can only tell you that my experience was good. I actually saw an associate, Dr. Tehranchi, for a broken wrist. My insurance isn't the greatest, so I was anticipating the worst ... but I was pleasantly surprised. My first visit for the cast was quick, and my second visit to remove it was even quicker. I was actually VERY grateful that they saw me at all on my second visit because I was over 30 minutes late due to terrible traffic (I live pretty far away from this place). The very first problem I've had with my knee ended up being a torn meniscus. Dr. John Kelly came highly recommended. I did a lot of asking around after hearing some horror stories. They told me that they had never seen anyone recover as quickly as I did. After two weeks post surgery I was able to completely open completely close my knee with no limited mobility whatsoever. It's Been about three years from the time I had surgery until now when I am with white writing this review I have not had any problems swelling or anything go wrong with my knee at this time. Considering my line of work plumbing heating and air-conditioning that is amazing. Our first visit to dr. Kelly's office was fine, nothing out of the ordinary. But then things went downhill fast! My daughter was scheduled for knee arthroscopy because of pain and mri was inconclusive. Expected to see the doctor after surgery but he never even came back to explain to my daughter or us what was done or why! Prescribed PT and follow up visit. My son had a scheduled appointment at 8am we arrived 15 mins early because I was told there are new patient paper work to be filled out. Again I arrived at 7:45am on the dot the door was locked. I can hear people inside so i knocked maybe they forgot to unlock it no problem, well i knocked and no one answered. They didn't open the office until 8:10am , I kindly asked why i was told to arrive 15 mins early for paper work when the office wasn't even opened The girl in the front office was rude she said we would never tell the patients that. So i said ok fine ill just let it go she's probably having a bad morning. She hands me the paper work I fill it out mind you my sons appointment was scheduled for 8am they didn't open the office until 8:10. I finished my paper in about 5 Mins I gave it to her she said have a seat we will call him back shortly. It is now 8:45am I ask the girl in the front desk does she know when he will be called back? I am furious but i have my son so I just ignored her and said omg Now its 9:15am and He still not in the office. I just got fed up and left. I am wondering how some reviews give this doctor more than one star, this office is terrible. i had a friend had a broken arm on Saturday , went to emergency but could not do much and had to go to primary doctor on monday, within few hours got for him an authorization from insurance to go to dr kelly's office. i called to get an appointment as soon as possible and as soon as they knew that it was a medi-cal and the insurance company they said only appointment available is after four weeks and when i said it is urgent someone is in sever pair they said call the primary doctor to find you another orthopedic. that is insane. read more

After fighting to get a referral to see an ortho surgeon after hurting my knee (knee sprain my a$$) I was so so so happy to find Dr. Kelly!! I got an MRI and he told me I had slightly torn my meniscus. I was DEVASTATED!!! I was using my bike and skateboard as mode of transportation. He knew how important it was for me to get back into running ASAP and I wanted to take a holistic approach. I changed my diet to mainly alkaline foods (to reduce inflammation) and Dr. Kelly, although not very knowledgeable about what I was doing, was very supportive. To have a doctor truly listen is a rarity. Thank you for being so understanding, not pushing me into a needless life altering surgery and seeming genuinely interested in the route I wanted to go. Of course he recommended rehab which helped tremendously!!! I would recommend anyone to please take the time (and deal with the sucky staff) to see the greatest example of what a doctor should be!!! I could write a book of my negative experiences trying to even get in to see this doctor. The front office is a joke an ran very poorly! My first apt. when I showed up, they did not even have record of my apt. or me and the doctor wasn't in. Then suddenly oh they found me in the system and the referral from my primary. Totally incompetent!!!! Nothing like taking time off and driving to a doc apt to be told you don't have an apt. Ridiculous. My primary doc told this is the only doc in the area that I could see with my insurance when I asked for another referral. Finally I got an apt. before covid and went to see the doc (but was seen by PA) who failed to even start processing a request for a needed mri. The office staff was standing around chatting and not working...just a very unprofessional office. Then covid hit and I finally had gotten the MRI MONTHS later and had attempted another apt. scheduled via zoom with doc who did not call when the apt. time was. Of course when I called the office there were 5 calls ahead of me as always. My primary doc finally found Dr. Tran in the next building over that would take my insurance after I said I refused to go back to Dr. John Kellys office. What a RELIEF! I literally spent hours and hours just trying to have one apt., get a MRI and have a second apt. Huge waste of my time! Dr. Tran is awesome and his office is ran top notch. I had a bad fall and was sent to Dr. Kelly. From the first moment; through surgery, follow-ups, and physical therapy. Dr Kelly and his assistant Dr. Lambert took exceptional care of me. I am older and have seldom had a doctor look me in the eye and say, "Do you have any questions?" Dr. Kelly did this. If you need a doctor that sees the person connected to the injury then this is your guy. I had excellent, excellent care and treatment. read more

I'm not sure any of you out there have been so frustrated with a doctor, more precisely, his staff, but I was one day away from having my surgery with another orthopedic doctor in a practice in the near vicinity. After two weeks of promises they would get my time off for my employer, screwing up the dates twice, promises of "I'm going to do it right now,,,' I finally gave up and cancelled it. I spoke to numerous folks in the practice, all of whom couldn't figure out which end of pen to use, only to get a call ON THE DAY OF THE CANCELLED SURGERY, to ask me where I was? Huh?? Not looking forward to looking again, I found Dr. Kelly's practice. And they remembered my name on the first call. On that call, they took all the insurance info, gave me an appointment the same week, and met with the Doctor within twenty minutes of being there. I was amazed. The even went to the trouble to go to the lab where I had all the pre-op blood and EKG done and had the information sent over. I walked out of the thirty minute personal visit with the surgery scheduled very quickly, all the papers and insurance pre-approval done, and felt like I must have been dreaming! What a breath of fresh air it's been and soooo happy I found Dr. Kelly, and his great staff! read more

I have been to Dr. Kelly a few times and my mother goes there and my cousin goes there. He is thorough. I try to see him for my ankle problems or foot problems, but he also works with broken ankles and legs, I believe. It is always a good idea to call and make sure the doctor can help you before making an appointment. Then you don't get there and realuze you should be seeing another doctor. I see the reviews that Dr. John P Kelly knows his stuff but I never really had the chance to find out. I was referred by a friend to check this guy out. I know I have an issue right now with my knee and need to have it looked at asap. First appointment I had to pay out of pocket till my insurance kicked in. The good thing was he did schedule my follow-up after my insurance kicked in from new job. I went and got the MRI per his referral and it worked with insurance in network(Cigna). Only problem when I was checking out I had to wait what felt like 10-12 minutes standing there waiting for 1 person to go over a calendar schedule with the nurse. I looked around and there was approx. 3-4 other nurses up front that I guess could have assisted but it appeared that the person at the end was the only one responsible for checking people out. That was just my observation. The follow up visit was very disappointing. I showed up 12 minutes early for my 11:10 appt. I signed in and checked the box that said "change to insurance". I wasn't really greeted by any of the 4 ladies working the front desk. At 11:20 I get called in and told where to go for examination. Waited a few minutes, and I could tell Doc Kelly was in the room just next door. The wait wasn't too bad. Around 5 minutes go by and to my surprise the man that comes in is not Doctor Kelly. I was expecting Dr. Kelly to give me the results and recommendations for my knee. Instead it was another gentleman who stated he was working under Dr. Kelly. He was a very professional gentleman, pretty young, no lab-coat or scrubs on, and he definitely wasn't sure about what to recommend. He even said that he peeked at the radiologists report and that he wasn't suppose to for whatever reason. He was suppose to make his own prognosis from what he told me. He seemed unprepared and had to look up all my info and what Doc Kelly wrote previously. After reading it he told me I had a 6mm tear in my meniscus. I asked him what can I do or not do. Surgery wasn't really necessary and I understood that. All my questions were kind of answered vaguely and it did kind of annoy me. The gentleman then said,"let me go ask Doctor Kelly and see what he would recommend". A few minutes later he comes back and says,"I can't find him". I kept asking more questions about what I can and can't do and really I could have done this exam myself. All I would of needed was the radiologist report. I was expecting a bit more along the lines of instructions on exercises I could do, maybe a few websites or a physical therapist that could be recommended to to take a look since I had PPO insurance. I got more semi confused looks. So I check out and wouldn't you know it. They tried to bill me as a cash patient. i stated to the nurse,"i have changes to my insurance and I have a card now". The nurse asks,"well did you tell them that when you checked in?". I said,"No, i signed in and checked the box that said 'changes to insurance' and no one talked to me or called my name, nor acknowledge I was there, before I was called into exam room. She happily took care of the issue and I appreciated that. Just wished I was actually acknowledge as more than another insurance claim. Bottom line my experience was pretty mediocre. I don't doubt Doctor Kelly is a great surgeon according to my original referral but really my experience was sub par. Thank goodness this wasn't an urgent painful matter. read more

You would think being a professional that advance notification to his patients would be nice. Nope, two people already in pre-op with me and two others waiting to get in pre-op. Patients have to make arrangements for surgeries too and to be inconsiderate in not a professional move. This is not the first time he tried to cancel before on me without notice. Please don't waste your time at this office! The staff is horrible. I have never dealt with such a disorganized group of people. My first appointment I waited in the exam room for 1 hour! Literally! I had enough and went out to find out when I would be seeing the doctor, I was told that Dr. Kelly was very busy but they would send someone else in. REALLY? Did I not have an appointment? From there everything with this office went down hill. I was suppose to get authorization for an MRI, however when it was denied the office never called me to tell me there was a problem! I called them 3 weeks later to find out what was going on and they said that they could not get in touch with me. ??? I don't really understand that statement since they had my cell phone on file. I finally got everything approved, had the MRI and went to my appointment. The receptionist tells me that my appointment had been cancelled. I sat in the waiting room for 20 minutes for her to tell me that I could not be seen? UGH! The doctors that work out of this office need to realize that their staff is losing business for them!
