Dr. Kim has performed rotator cuff surgery first on my left shoulder about five years ago, and on my right shoulder about seven months ago to reattach separated tendons. Both surgery's have had excellent results, and my shoulders now feel much better than they did even prior to the injuries that required the surgery. He is an excellent surgeon who I found to be caring and easy to talk to for advice and prescriptions to best to deal with pain that is inherent in the recovery period following this type of surgery. He also advised me through the exercises I should do at home to augment the physical therapy he prescribed regain full range of motion. I've suffered from a chronic ACL tear since 2013 and after a recent re-injury in August 2019 I went to Dr. Kim after finding him on Yelp. He surgically repaired my ACL, discovered my partially torn meniscus and repaired this as well. He was incredibly kind and would explain everything calmly throughout the whole process from the first appointment through follow up appointments after surgery. He showed me pictures of the inside of my knee and the repairs he made after the surgery, too. Very cool! He also recommended an awesome physical therapy office nearby my apartment. I went to Dr Kim after seeing "Fortunato's" review and since i train with the him, I generally trust his judgement. Dr Kim did not disappoint. Long story short, after a training session one night my calf swelled up an over the next couple of days I could no longer walk on the leg. Urgent care said it was a ruptured plantaris tendon, put me in crutches and sent me on my way. A couple if days later I called dr Kim and they originally gave me an appointment for a week later but when I explained what was going on, they got me into the office in two days instead. Dr Kim immediately sent me off to get an ultrasound to check for blood clots and put me in a boot (which is about a million times better than a crutch). A couple of weeks later he set me up for physical therapy. Overall I'm super happy with dr Kim, his office staff and his professionalism. He seems like an awesome doctor and I'm definitely coming back here with any other future injuries. (I mean lets face, it's just a matter of time). read more

I came home from the gym and were getting frustrated about not recovering from my sprain. My cousin is a doctor too but she insisted I try an orthopedic Dr. I was refered to this doctor via my Aetna referral line. I am very pleased. I received an X-ray and was informed that the deformity is from the calcification of all my previous ankle injuries... Man, do I not pay any attention to my injuries anymore? I even have bone spurs. Really? I'll tell you what I do like. Dr. Kim had educated me and told me that we have the same "Achilles heel" so to speak. He even showed me a comparison of his ankles which was similar to mine. I suffered a shoulder injury while training with my JiuJitsu sparring partners. We train at a very competitive level, often with world class fighters. I have very good insurance which lets me choose any Doctor I want. There is a place in Los Angeles where many world champion fighters, and professional athletes get their injuries repaired. I have been there myself for a previous injury, and yes, they are very good. This time, I wanted to find an Orthopedic Surgeon locally in Orange County, who can perform at the same level or even better. My search led me to Dr. David Kim. Dr. Kim set me up for an MRI to accurately diagnose my injury. The MRI confirmed I had a completely torn rotator cuff tendon. I then made a request of Dr. Kim "can you repair my shoulder to give me the best chance of doing everything I use to do...not a guarantee...just the best chance to make it as strong as possible?" Dr. Kim didn't flinch at all, and replied something very similar to the classic saying of "yes, and I want to get it right the first time". It was at that moment that I made my decision that I wanted him to perform my surgery. Dr Kim's office staff guided me through the pre-surgery process (special thanks to Mulani!). I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Kim a few years back and I love his conservative approach. He's treated my knee and my elbows and shoulders. I had severe tendinitis in my elbows and he recommended physical therapy which helped a little but I insisted on a Cortisone shot. Because the elbows have so many ligaments, he recommended only a half dose and that did the trick, no more issues and it's been close to 3 years now. He's injected my knee with a 3 stage Synvisc lubricating stuff and that's been fantastic. Most recently my Left shoulder has been in a lot of pain so he did x-rays, MRI to rule out any tears. Dr. Kim's conservative approach and trying to get you back to normal is refreshing. His office is always very clean and staff is always very courteous. Highly recommend! read more

Saw Dr Kim about bursitis in my elbow. They took an x-ray and saw a bone fragment in my elbow. He believed the bone fragment caused the bursitis and surgery to remove the bursitis sack would resolve. After surgery I continued to have fluid in my elbow, I would visit every few weeks and he would drain, but fluid would quickly return. After wasting tons of cash and time (5 follow ups after surgery) with Dr Kim, I went and got a second opinion. This Dr immediately did another x-ray and found a bone fragment in my elbow. Looks like Dr Kim removed the bursitis sack but did not remove bone fragment. I am now scheduled for another elbow surgery. Dr Kim has a nice office and bedside manor but completely blew it. He gets 1 star for not fixing, I would give myself 1 star as well for not getting a 2nd option sooner. read more

Dr. Kim has the worst staff I have ever encountered, especially the office manager/x-ray person which is Terry Carnes. He is abrupt, rude, and just a plain jerk. He was trying to x-ray the wrong knee two visits ago and argued with me over the correct knee. Told me "I was not the doctor." I tried to explain that the doc and I were discussing my left ankle problem and switched to my knee issue so he probably made an error. Then when I convinced him it was my right knee that I had surgery on, he x-rayed the correct knee. This visit today he called me back to their break room and told me to sit down he wanted to talk to me. I could tell it wasn't going to be a sweet chat by his demeanor. It was like I was five years old getting lecture. He was mad that I had $10 for my co-pay not $15. I didn't have my purse and didn't want to find my husband in the parking lot for the balance. It wasn't a big deal and he lost three injections and a surgery over his pettiness. This is an office I had three surgeries on three different body parts on in two years. It is not like I am a first time visitor there. Seriously $5! It took them two weeks to get authorization for the injection I was there for today, when I called and got same day authorization to prove I could. I have amazing insurance. I left without getting my injection as I do not need to be treated crappy by a rude man that should have retired 10 years ago. My husband told me not to go back last time but I like Dr. Kim. He should have better control of his staff though! I will NEVER go back. And Barry S is right on with his review of their lack to get back to you.
