They gave us (my wife and I) Rude and controlling Julian. My wife and decided to get a new dentist and I had a filling to be filled and my wife had a cleaning on the same day. We let them know we will be changing Dentists on the day of our appointments. We were taken to a room and asked if we still wanted our cleaning and filling done and we said yes. They ask me to come to the room to get my filling done. At this point I was told from Julian that I didn't trust her and that she was NOT going to do my filling! My wife got her cleaning done but I was Discriminated by Julian by refusing to do my filling work! I was asked to leave!! NOT A FRIENDLY PLACE NO MORE!!

My hygienist, Amy, was remarkably kind and thorough during my entire examination, Dr.Skvor was very patient and gentle during my procedure, and the additional office staff were all welcoming and helpful. Dr. Foreman is so nice and even did my first teeth cleaning! During covid, Melrose Dental handled everything really well. The safety of their clients was obvious as I felt very safe. I showed up, checked in, and didn't even sit down because I went right in to the exam room. The dentist came over within 5 minutes, and did the actual cleaning himself! I'm not over exaggerating when I say it rains every single time I have a dental appointment…read more It is so fitting because I HATE THE DENTIST. Well, that's not a fair statement. I despise the experience and essentially everything it entails. The smells, the sounds and oh my gosh the feels -- it all makes me shudder merely thinking of it. I could think of one million and one things I'd rather be doing then getting my teeth cleaned. Like, grocery shopping with two tantruming toddlers in tow or even running a half marathon with a bum knee in the rain sans music. So, no, I suppose I don't hate a dentist personally-- it's not their fault I have a phobia directly related to their profession. That being said, I actually like this dentist ... if I take a step back and forget what she does. Only thinking of her as a person out in the real world, she's stellar. Jokes aside-- Dr. Miller is professional, extremely knowledgeable, kind and easy to talk to. She does her best to ease my mind, no matter the procedure or circumstance. I'd definitely acknowledge her if I ran into her at a coffee shop or something (so long as I didn't have anything super sugary in hand.) The staff is very friendly. The waiting room is pleasant with upbeat music playing. It is easy to find. They have really streamlined the entire process, your hygienist will make your next appointment for you as you wait for the dentist to stop in AND they send text message appointment reminders! So, since you HAVE to go to the dentist (there's no getting around it unless you want dentures by 40) stop in! I promise this one won't bite.

I can't say enough good things about Iowa City Dental Clinic. I called with a dental emergency…read moreafter cracking a tooth, and the pain was intense. To make matters more stressful, it was a Friday--when many dental offices aren't even open. They answered the phone, took my situation seriously, and got me in to see a dentist right away. It turned out I needed a root canal, and they went above and beyond by getting me an appointment with an endodontist that same afternoon. The coordination and urgency they showed made a huge difference in what could have been a miserable experience. I should also mention that we were brand new to Iowa City and hadn't even established care with a dentist yet. We had just moved from Sacramento, where we loved our longtime dentist and honestly didn't expect to find comparable care so quickly. Iowa City Dental Clinic exceeded my expectations. The care was not only excellent, but genuinely compassionate. In addition to treating me, they provided excellent referrals, which helped me quickly get top-notch follow-up care here in Iowa City. I'm incredibly grateful for how they handled everything during a stressful situation. Highly recommend this clinic--especially if you need urgent care and want to be treated with professionalism, kindness, and efficiency.
