I stopped into John Robert's Spa with my friend for a facial. She's gone multiple times before, but this was my first time. The staff was very kind and welcoming when we arrived. While we waited to be taken back for our facials, we were offered coffee or tea. They have a special tea blend specifically for Aveda and it was so good! I ended up purchasing some before I left. Lol Luna did my facial and Summer did my friend's facial. We each got the 30 min facial. I think that's the perfect amount of time for a facial. They use Aveda products and everything smells so delicious. After my service, my skin was glowing. (And still is days later). So the reason why I gave 4 stars: 1) I felt the service was a bit on the pricey side for a 30 min facial. It was $80. That price won't deter me from getting another facial from here... but definitely not as often as I would if the price was a bit lower. The other reason I gave it 4 stars was that the receptionist ringing us out overcharged my friend. When my friend was trying to ask about it and explain why she thought she was overcharged, you could tell the receptionist was very confused and in the end it was just easier to let it go. Overall, this spa was great. Like I said, I will definitely come back, just not as often. read more

I want to start by saying i have thick, long, afro-curly hair. I was nervous that this salon would not have much experience with my hair type. My coworker convinced me to take a chance. i am glad i did. the stylist that did my hair was Haley, and she did an awesome job. She started by asking me questions about my normal hair practices and asking what i wanted. The shampoo and detangling process was comfortable and not painful (i say that because i usually hurt my own head when detangling). She gave me a quick relaxing neck massage during the shampoo that i wish i could recreate on myself. the blow drying and flat ironing i know is a task and she was resourceful and asked a fellow stylist to assist in the process. they used a good temperature as to not damage my natural curl pattern (which was one of my concerns). there was no pain and a very enjoyable experience. i was constantly asked if i needed anything to drink and if i was comfortable. i would also like to mention the teacher that was there at the time was also great. she used every moment she could as an opportunity to teach the girls something new. she seemed to be very knowledgeable about African american hair. read more

I've visited here twice and love John Roberts. Mayfield location is surprisingly large with high quality accommodations. My mom and I went for a gel mani-spa pedi appointment, took a little over 1 hour in total. Spa pedi: amazingly comfortable massaging chairs during pedi experience, toes were trimmed, polished and cleaned to perfection. Any rough spots on my feet were gone! Gel mani: lots of color options, high quality work smoothing and preparing the nails, and excellent polish finish. Bonus: I learned that John Roberts will do complimentary gel polish removal later on - excellent service offering! Prices are expensive, but for a special treat, especially if you buy packages with a discount, this is a worthy treat. read more

When I left from my second haircut, part of my hair looked like shredded turkey and when I let it air dry like there were dried worms on my head. My beautiful wavy hair now looked horrible. I could have gone back a third time but didn't think there was enough hair left for another cut. I should have asked friends for referrals before just making an appointment. Maybe the ladies were available last minute for a reason. Since then I have been cutting my own hair to try to fix it. Should have saved my money. read more

The staff is very nice and very welcoming when I started there. The products are all Aveda and smell great but highly priced which you expect with that brand. However it was a little dirty which made me kind of nervous. There was a ton of dust all over the salon tables and there was hair on the floor as well. However overall it was an OK experience just really wish that I liked my outcome of my hair better because it was for a special event and I was so unhappy with it that I actually went home and took it all out. Visited John Robert's for a bikini wax before my vacation. The esthetician seemed a bit uncomfortable waxing my bikini area which I found odd. Perhaps I was her first, not too sure. She did a terrible job at making me feel comfortable, not much talking, just instruction on where and when to move/lift my legs. But whatever, she finished and I went to pay. The front desk woman was just awful. When I went to the desk she was talking with another staff member behind the desk. She acknowledged my presence by holding out her hand for payment. She never looked at me, never spoke to me, never smiled, nothing. I've never been treated like that in my life. The other staff member looked at me and it was clear she noticed. I should have said something but it wasn't even worth it. Thanks for making me feel so unwanted. Never again will I visit your salon. read more

My first time here even if I arrived a little later for my appointment, they were accommodating. The salon uses Aveda products and that's the reason I came but my friend also referred me to try this place out. It's located next to Chipotle and Marcs in the Eastgate Shopping Plaza. Inside, it looks inviting. You can help yourself to coffee or tea. I went here for a haircut and Danielle did a good job. She did what I asked and gave some helpful tips on taking care of your hair. A scalp massage was also complimentary for first timers so that felt more relaxing. Danielle also gave me a tour of the place. They have a spa and you can feel relaxed already when you walk in. It's in a separate room so not as noisy as outside. In addition, they also do nails. For $30, it was worth it for the cut. read more

I've had a couple bikini waxes and many haircuts here. The waxes were good. Nothing out of this world but they were clean and profesional and they do not double dip. I come here when I'm home for the holidays and away from my regular waxer and have never had a problem with the results. The haircuts, though, are phenomenal. I go to Mia and she is wonderful every time. She is one of the few people I trust with my hair. She is friendly, but professional, and puts you at ease. And if there's something I don't like, she changes it easily and doesn't get offended. Everyone at the salon is well groomed but not pretentious. And they tell you what products are good for your hair but never push anything on you. If you're new to the area or just want to try a different place, you can't go wrong here. read more

Hair cuts are good, but expensive. Best part is getting a head massage with the wash. I used to get hand/arm massages whenever I got my hair done, but those have stopped. Every time I call to make an appointment I sit on hold - sometimes over 10 minutes. Aveda products are also highly prices. Some of the girls cuts can be as much as $85 for short hair. Partial highlights with a cut ran over $130. For an upscale salon, their finance tracking leave a lot to be desired. I had several gift cards purchased & I had to keep complete track of them myself. I had to prove to them 4 times that I still had $ left on my account. They don't put a total credit on your account. The only track the individual cards and you have to know the card numbers. Very antiquated system. I loved the Strongsville location, but the closed it down abruptly. Now I have to travel to the east side to get my hair done. When these gift cards are done, I'm done. read more

Erica did my color and it was gorgeous. Chelsey cut my hair and did a fantastic job. She made sure I liked what she was doing and went out of her way to ensure I loved my hair. My stylish was amazing for cuts, color and highlights. His wife owned the cool boutique at the salon's entrance always a great stop even though as I student I could not afford much at the time. I called in asking for someone who would be good at a wedding style and they suggested Shannon. I went in to see her a few months in advanced to get a cut and color and talk over the hairstyle for my big day. I have been going here for years and I am SO GRATEFUL for their color and cut classes offered on Mondays for, as a single mama, being on a budget, and not one to wish to spend that much on herself, especially when it comes to vanity, this is very well needed. The girls are licensed and have great instructors looking over them, they just wish to advance to the floor and better their skills so they are very conscientious about doing the best job they can. I have severe anxiety, so I'm obviously quite antsy when there's a busy salon bustling around me and I'm staring myself in a mirror with scissors to my head. But John Roberts really does make the experience enjoyable! The people at the desk are always lovely and upbeat, which makes it so much nicer to walk into. I particularly liked the stylist I had yesterday when I got a semi-dramatic short cut (Shaved sides, long on top, naturally curly hair). I was so nervous; but my hairdresser was open, kind, and respectful of my quietness when I was a little too shy to talk. Super personable when I did get the courage to speak. Not to mention what a beautiful job she did on my hair! She made sure to be precise with it and perfected every part of the cut. I believe her name was Katie Lynn (I could be a little off on that, but something similar to that name!). She was very friendly, asking questions about what aspects I might want to change of the reference photo I brought in. She really got it looking exactly like the photo and listened to my preferences. She gave tips afterwards of how to style it, use different products, and make sure it looks as fresh as it did when I walked out of the salon. I am extremely happy with this experience! Most definitely recommend coming here, even for edgier or drastic cuts. They'll listen to what you want and make sure you're comfortable through the entire thing. read more

The stylist who does my hair is terrific and gives me a consistently great haircut and color, and is friendly to boot. When I get a manicure or pedicure, it is relaxing, clean and lasts a long time. As a visitor to Mayfield heights for business I got my haircut at this place based on a recommendation from a co-worker. I was in a bit of a pinch for time but needed a relatively simple cut. This salon is beautiful, reasonable priced, the staff is accommodating and pleasant. My attendant was ready as scheduled for my appointment. They were not pushy with product on the way out the door (which was good cause who likes that anyhow?) Like I said I did not have a color - just a relatively simple cut to clean up the shoddy job done by the last person who cut my hair. That being said 60% of the people in the salon at the time I was there were getting color treatments done - perhaps read some other reviews if that is what you are looking for. I hesitated to give this place 4 or 5 stars. I mean I was impressed...however as I don't; really know the area and what is the norm I elected to give it 4 stars. This place is as good as my regular salon in Toronto and MUCH better/more professional that more EXPENSIVE salons I have been to in Montreal, Las Vegas, Vancouver. I had the worst experience of my life at John Roberts Spa last Friday. I have been going there for over ten years and have had wonderful service. That all ended last Friday when the owners son came in to visit his girlfriend who is a stylist there. I had a disagreement with her about two months prior to Fridays visit. He came up to me while I was getting a blow dry and said. " Do you know who I am? I'm Johnni DeJulis I have my girlfriends back and you need to mind your own fuckin drama." Needless to say I left in tears and with a wet head and will never walk into that place again! The girls who work there are wonderful and I'm sad to say I will really miss them. The owners assistant did call me and was very apologetic but the owner, who is so concerned about customer service never called and frankly no love lost! read more

This salon is fantastic! I see Katieanne for my hair and she does a fabulous job every time. Its like my hair is given new life once I walk out of the salon. The staff is always very friendly and their reminder system works great with my busy lifestyle (they do text and/or email reminders). My husband also booked a day of pampering with them for my last birthday. He had no idea what would be best for me, but they helped him design a great day of relaxation for me. I visited every inch of the salon that day and enjoyed every minute of it. I have yet to meet a staff member that doesn't make me feel like their number one priority! The spa is wonderful, tranquil, warm and the technicians are very good. Desk staff is very professional and efficient. Highly reccommend them! I had tried several salons looking for a new stylist and finally found what I wanted there! I have long curly hair with long layers and I went in for a trim. The stylist and I agreed that only 1 inch would be taken off. Unfortunately, she took ~4-5 inches off of the top layer of hair in one area on the back of my head so it now looks like someone haphazardly just took a chunk of my hair and cut it off. I visited this salon for the first time today to have my shoulder-length hair cut super short. My stylist, Mary, was very friendly and had a lot of experience (over 20 years!). She crafted a beautiful short pixie cut for me that I absolutely love. The salon was very clean and inviting and the staff was cheerful and knowledgeable.
