Almost a year to the day John came out to fix a clogged drain, my water heater died. Since my last experience with him was so positive I decided to call again and I'm glad I did. Schoeffling Plumbing is one of Lowe's subcontractors for appliance installations. Their customer service is awful. Mary, part owner, has absolutely no people skills. Lowe's recorded my phone number wrong, delaying the installation time. I was aiming to have a dishwasher installed in time for an open house. Instead I have new dishwasher sitting in the middle of my kitchen for a week while people look at the house for purchase. It really ruins the open house. Mary laughed at me when I told her I had asked Lowe's to correct the phone number several times at the store when they did not. When I told Mary of my predicament with my open house she was unsympathetic and refused to put me on their schedule. She then insisted that Lowe's use another contractor not knowing if this would delay the install even further. This company should: 1) Not be directly talking to customers as Mary has no people skills. 2) Should not be a contractor for Lowe's as they do not have the resources to do the installations in a timely manner. Ask yourself this question "If this company doesn't have the resources or ability to address an installation problem for a simple dishwasher installation, what can you expect from this company when you have a real plumbing emergency?" read more

John does all of our plumbing. (period) His work is expert! Clean, neat, knows his craft like no other. He does our 80+ yr old home with the most confusing plumbing known to man and our commercial projects at the dental office. He always shows up on time and on budget. THe washer water supply pipes (that we had replaced a few years ago) started leaking. We called a plumber who said he'd be out, he came out and then forgot us. We called the last plumber who replaced our water heater about 3 years ago and after 4 "emergencies" and rescheduling, we decide to call John Schoeffling....his came with 31 hearts on our neighborhood app so that excited us. We called and left a message on the answering machine, had a return call within half an hour and set an appointment for the next day. John showed up within the time frame he scheduled and had it done within an hour! We have lived here 21 years and plumbers come and go...finding a great plumber with great rates use to only be a dream. John wore a mask, covered our washer so it wouldn't be scratched and addressed a couple of other plumbing issues that we mentioned in conversation. In all of the years that we lived here and all of the plumbers that came through here, John was the only one to get us increased water pressure with the turn of a valve. He will now be our "go-to" plumber and the one who we will refer to family and friends. John is knowledgeable and explains what he is doing and even why we have the problems we had. He installed my water softener. Decent job on the install and hookup. Lid didnt fit and that wasnt because of him. It was a Lowe's product. He did make some assumptions... 1. That is was open box and 2. that it was some sort of discount product. Neither was true. I bought it directly from Lowe's. The deal was good and i told him that , but it was not any kind of open box product or black market. I did eventually get a discount from Lowe's because the lid never fit and replacement lid they sent also didnt fit (AO Smith softener). About a day after installation, the tube that took the regeneration backwash out, broke off the drain end cap assembly and the drain barb was damaged. I think part of the problem there was that AO Smith gave me the stiffer plastic tube instead of the black rubber flexible tube that they sent after i asked for all the parts involved in taking that backwash out. No idea why they sent it with that inflexible plastic tube. I never would use those if i had to do this again! I eventually fixed it all myself after 2 attempts (leaked after first attempt). I learned a lot, but I wanted the plumber to come back to look at it and they didnt get back to me. I am more used to directly calling plumbers and this is just a different set up, but i was basically left to learn this on my own. I did learn how to wrap the plumbers tape (PFT Tape) and install that assembly and barb and tube, etc. so i guess it worked out, but at the time i was not happy that he couldn't come back to look at it or even respond. He would've known what to do right away. I had to call AO Smith several times over several weeks to get help and fix this myself. Lots of frustration and time. Cost was free for me (just time and frustration) so I look at it as a learning experience. I saved money over going with Culligan or some other names where they install softener , take old one away and then you can call them for support going forward. Schoeffling price was decent for install, but didnt include removal of old softener and then no follow up when there was an issue a day or so later. At least call back and maybe offer some advice. I usually go with another plumber, but he doesnt do water softeners and is not a fan of them at all. My other plumber doesn't like disposals either, but i had him install an Insinkerator a few days ago and he fixed the pump on my toilet too. I can contact him and he comes out and shows me things as he goes and comes back if any issues. He is old school and I like that. Too bad he is retiring in a few yrs. Was this all worth the savings? now it is, now that it is working and not leaking. It was cool fixing it and learning some things, but that ain't really my thing. Took some Youtube vids and some calls and deliveries. Probably a simple job for most, but new to me. read more

Needed some minor plumbing work done before selling my townhouse. I called Horizon, who sent out a rep who gave me an outrageous quote and then charged me $50 for the visit. Called Schoeffling Plumbing, spoke with Michelle who was pleasant as can be. After explaining what work needed to be done, Michelle gave me a quote over the phone (didn't require a $50 charge for an outrageous quote like Horizon). John came out the following week and fixed everything that needed to be done. He was both honest and polite. Small family owned business that does quality work and won't break the bank. John put in a new hot water heater about a year and a half ago. It is in a closet on the second floor. He did a great job taking one out and new one up the stairs. Recently, I needed a grab bar outside my shower. He did that for me, even though it was a "small" job. It is nice to have a local plumber who will help his customers whenever he can. read more
