I immediately called the gas company and they came and shut off the gas line. It's the dead of the winter and now I have no heat. I didn't know where to begin. I checked the internet but nothing jumped out at me. I went on yelp and began reading reviews and I ran across Lawrence heating & air. I called spoke to a woman who was very pleasant and told me a tech could come out to assess the boiler to see if it was still usable. Joe came and he looked at it and said it it's a hazard. With all the rust and corrosion and not to mention whatever was on fire. He said it needed replacing. He talked to me about the options and stated I would get an email from the owner of my options. 30 mins later the email was there and everything was included. All the info I needed to know about the unit, specs, warranty, parts/tubing for replacement, price. It was a proposal. I reached out to Lawrence with my questions and he answered right away. I also stated my elderly dad lives with me and elderly need service as soon as possible. That was no problem. He sent me payment options as well. Once I accepted the proposal and date was locked in and they techs came the next day on time. Randy showed up first, then Joe & Chaly. They immediately put down floor draping and loaded all of the supplies , pipes , boiler, etc. They opened all the radiators starting at the top. All of them were pleasant and very Knowledgeable about their job. Any questions I asked Randy explained. They cleaned up behind themselves and made sure everything was put back in place. Once they were done Randy told me about my new unit and what was removed and put in. This company made the entire stressful event so much more easier, like a weight had been lifted. They were responsive and scheduled an appointment promptly for a "free estimate". The plumber was at my home as scheduled to check out my system, but before he would do anything, he told me that I have to pay $460 (plus tax) for labor, and if the disposal system needs to be replaced, it will cost me at least $750 (plus tax). He said he could only go as low as $300 (plus tax), after checking with his supervisor. I thought it's overpriced so since my issue wasn't urgent , I declined to have it fixed. I found a local plumber, who didn't charge for an inspection and charged me a total of $450 including labor to replace the broken system with a new garbage disposal system. Customers should beware of Plumbing services who claim to have free estimates on site but would charge desperate customers exorbitantly, especially if the plumbing issue needs to be fixed urgently!

John Roberts (he does the work himself with one helper) did the demolition, replaced all the plumbing with new PVC, rebuilt and retiled the shower, installed a new tile floor, put up new walls and installed all the appliances, and did the final painting. The job took three weeks during which I entrusted him with a key to our house so we could continue with our life. He showed up on time every day, worked diligently showing good craftsmanship and kept the place as neat as possible. Kudos to John Roberts and to his assistant Pip. I would definitely hire him again.

JT Roberts gave me a quote for $1800 to replace the drain and reseat the toilet. Said it would be expensive due to the cost and difficulty of cast iron and PVC would not fit. I come home from work to find he used a PVC drain and the toilet was 4 inches off center between the tub and wall. It was also 3 inches off the wall. He claimed that is where it was. He also broke away portions of the wall in the living room and bath that did not need to be destroyed which trashed my entire house with soot. He refused to center the toilet or give me a discount for the PVC. I had to take it all apart and cut the "Y" under the toilet to center it. He was too lazy to cut it to size or buy the right size. I've had bad luck with contractors but this guy takes the cake. No aptitude for spacial relationships, customer service, integrity or quality of workmanship.
