I asked 10 roofing contractors to come out and give me a price on Owens Coring Duration Designer with peel/stick water barrier. 1-John Scott does his own estimates and goes over all the points needed for a successful roof replacement, prep, warranty and answers all questions, no pressure. ***THIS INCLUDES the signed statement he has paid for materials. WHAT THIS MEANS you will not get a lien on the products installed if the roof company fails to pay for their materials. 2-No down payment 3-Uses their own license (yes this is a thing-some contractors pay to use others licenses) 4-The installers were professional, and cleaned up every nail. Our 2K SF roof was done in 1 day. Tear off, replace any rotten wood, prep, waterbarrier, and new shingles. 5-Price was the lowest even with a premium product. JS did not charge extra for the premium product either. Out of the 10 estimates: John Scott was the lowest, the second closest came in $600 more. Ok john Scott roofing was awesome n professional from start to finish. Any other roof estimates I got I had to scan a code or ask multiple times for license, insurance, references ect. not with John Scott roofing didn't get the words out and Mr Scott is handing me copies of everything. The workers were neat personable they cleaned their messes up each day. If I could do more than recommend them I would do that n give a 6th star. Without asking at payment time I got copies of release of lien for material and entire job, that just puts ya at ease. My mothers house has a main shingled roof and an enclosed porch with a flat roof. We had a new main roof installed about a year ago by another company and it was great. John Scott roofing recently replaced the flat roof portion, which wasn't replaced by the other company. The area where the flat roof meets the main roof started leaking. It never had leaked before. We contacted John Scott roofing and the secretary stated that they were extremely busy and backed up and she didn't know how long it would take to get someone out to look at it. So we contacted the roofing company that did the main roof. They came out immediately and had me get on the roof to see for myself why it was leaking. I observed many shingles that were loose and torn where John Scott had installed due to the flat roof being installed after the main roof. Some shingles were lifted to where nails were visible. They offered to redo the three rows of shingles that John Scott improperly installed, so I had them fix it and they did so the same day. The other company impressed me with their service and quality of work, but John Scott failed to impress. read more

We purchased a roof the end of 2013 paying almost $10000 and we had a 10 year warranty. We contacted them last week because the soffit was falling down, the owner john Scott was very rude to my mother and told her if they were in the area they would look at it when they had time.. several days passed she called back and again was treated very disrespectfully. I called him today to inquire when someone would be able to look at it. I spoke to the owner john and he was extremely rude and unprofessional stated he came out here and looked, which he never did, and hung up on me. He has horrible customer service!! We got five estimates and he came in third on price. Everything was included, permit, plywood, extra venting, pictures and paper work for the insurance company. I know I am missing somethings. He has his own crew and doesn't hire subs. His guys have been with him a long time and are great. They arrived on time every morning and worked all day. Great professional job. Completed in a day and half. Great cleaned up . The estimate was one price for everything including plywood which was needed . Also included was additional roof vents and all other vents replaced, no hidden costs. He has hard working crews doing a tremendous job. John Scott also promptly returned my call, came on time to gave me an estimate. He also provided me all the paper work for home owner insurance John's estimate was the lowest, for a fair price and great roof job.
