He was a great baseball player who happened to be born in the small town of Pierson. This place is also referred to as the Pierson Town Park and of course the town of Pierson calls itself the Fern Capital of the World. I didn't see a whole heap of ferns while I was in Pierson but I did see a very impressive baseball facility. They obviously take the game seriously down here. Not surprising with ol' Chipper as one of their own. The facility has two softball fields, two little league fields, a larger baseball field, and a couple of practice areas and fields. A whole lot of baseball stuff, including some lights for some ball playing after dark. There is also a nice playground and some kind of rodeo place right next door. A huge 16 acres to throw, catch and bat little round objects around. Lots of farms and cows out this way and perhaps lots of ferns. This is also one very, very cool park to play some baseball. Chipper must be very proud.

I would say that the multitude of athletic fields are probably why most people come here. They all appear very well maintained and overall this was a pretty positive experience. While I would not recommend coming here if you are looking more for a park type environments, these sport fields I am sure are very well received by the community. Again, if you're looking more for a park where you can hang out and chill, this is probably not the place. However, this serves the community well with all these sport fields and I'm sure that the neighbors and community love it. For that I am giving it five stars.

The building has restrooms, a concession stand for the baseball and football field, a picnic area and a road which winds close to the river and ends in a cul-de-sac. There is a baseball diamond, football field and soccer field. The dog park is on the other side of the fields and has shaded areas with benches for the two-legged park attendees while the four-legged ones get to run about. There is a kayak launch located at a small creek that enters the San Sebastian River, just south of the State Road 16 bridge. A pavilion is located at the entrance to the launching site. 4 reasons to come to this park. ***NEW INFORMATION***…read more There isn't any fee for everything I'm mentioning EXCEPT the front part of the off beach parking area ****** 1st is MY reason: I go here because it has 2 fenced in HUGH dog play areas. My girls go into the small dog play area while yes, big dogs go in the other one. Each play area has benches, water and poop bags in different areas of the park. (Some people leave balls there also otherwise, you bring your own) I walk the perimeter while the girls run after me and the other dogs. My 2 rescues "mother/daughter" duo are still puppies, full of muscle and need to run for their exercise. (for me to rest because they are a handful) 2nd: There is A children's play area. I know they have swings slides picnic benches but I'm not sure what else because I don't have a child to go there. I hear all of the children laughing, having fun so I'm sure it's pretty nice. 3rd: They also have back to back courts for... I know one is basketball, the other one may be pickleball? Not quite sure but again I see lots of people playing on the courts even if I'm not paying attention to them 4th: Which is most likely you wanted 1st is the large parking area across from the beach As you first drive into the park, there is a huge off beach parking area where You can (of course) park and walk right across to the beach. * BE AWARE, It is no longer "free" parking (just like ALL the parking areas in Volusia county) **The parking areas are free for local residents as long as you register with your car license plate and proof that you are indeed a resident here. ***I don't know what the policy is, you will have to look it up in The Volusia County rules I do know it's $20 a day parking (and all the parking areas now) BUT, I do know it is a great park with something to do for all AS for pictures, I will put them up when I go again BUT, here is a shot of my cute ladies and something strange that someone put up. It was created through a unique partnership among Brevard County Natural Resources Watershed Management, Eastern Florida State College, the City of Titusville, the St. Johns River Water Management District, and Parrish Medical Center. Within the park is a series of interconnected lakes designed as a stormwater treatment system that cleans runoff from both Titusville and unincorporated Brevard County before it enters the Indian River Lagoon. Wetland vegetation naturally filters pollutants from the water, improving its quality before it returns to the environment. Without this treatment, stormwater runoff can contribute to algal blooms, muck accumulation, fish kills, and other ecological problems that threaten the lagoon's health. Beyond its environmental benefits, the restored wetlands provide valuable habitat for wildlife, particularly Florida's wading birds, while offering visitors opportunities for nature observation and outdoor recreation. The park contains a variety of habitats, including artificial lakes, freshwater wetlands, salt marshes, mangrove communities, and hardwood and sabal palm hammocks. Visitors can explore approximately three miles of paved trails, including a scenic 2.6-mile loop for walking, running, and cycling. Additional amenities include a five-story wildlife observation tower offering a stunning view of the wetlands, athletic fields, picnic pavilions, playgrounds, and access to the surrounding trail network. The park is an official stop on the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail, a statewide network of more than 500 premier wildlife-viewing sites. It is well known for its abundant wildlife, and visitors can expect to see Ospreys, herons, egrets, turtles, and alligators, one reason swimming is prohibited in the lakes. During my visit, I spotted Black Vultures, a Great Blue Heron, and a Great Egret. Other species frequently seen here include Wood Storks, Glossy Ibises, Cattle Egrets, Mottled Ducks, Laughing Gulls, and Forster's Terns. Roseate Spoonbills make occasional appearances, along with Bald Eagles while ospreys are common throughout the park. During migration along the hammock trails you may find songbirds such as Prairie Warblers in spring and fall, or Painted Buntings during the winter months. The park also hosts the annual Space Coast Birding and Wildlife Festival, one of the largest birding festivals in the country. Cyclists will appreciate that the park serves as a trailhead for both the Brevard Coast-to-Coast Trail and the East Coast Greenway, providing miles of additional scenic riding along the corridor that parallels US 1. Chain of Lakes Park demonstrates how wetlands can improve water quality, support wildlife, and help protect one of Florida's most valuable ecosystems while also making a great recreational space for wildlife photography, walking, cycling, and play in a beautiful natural setting.

Growing up in Gainesville, it has always been a central location for picnics and outdoor Birthday parties. They have recently updated all of the playground equipment. But, my favorite are the old swings in the central portion of the park because they can withstand adults swinging on them*. There is nothing better than swinging on a hot day to cool off. The enclosed pool with high-dive platforms and water slide are also located withing the area and parking spaces for your car are plentiful during daytime hours on weekdays and early morning on weekends. You can also enter the Hogtown trails on 8th Avenue near here. I posted the address of the recreation center to give you an idea of where the park is located if using GPS. * The underside of the swing notes that they are made for children only, but they have been holding my weight for many years.
