I am planning to propose to the love of my life in September, and I was shopping for the ring back in May. I went to a bunch of Jewlery stores, I started off with the major chains. I had a very specific design in mind and I was shopping around for price, quality and confidence in the business who was making it. Most of the major jewlery chains had a lot of mixed reviews, and quite a few horror stories which scared me. Most of those jewlery stores didn't even make the custom rings themselves, they outsourced the whole project out of state, so not only did they quote longer waiting times but they also didn't have that personal touch I was hoping for. I know we're in the year 2023 where every purchase feels like Amazon buys but I really prefer the mom pop shops that Can wow you on service over the "ring mills" as I'm referring to the massive chains, that treat you like a number. Then I found John Thomas Jewlers. The experience was totally different. The difference could be felt from the moment I walked through the door. First, I was greeted with an assortment of Fiji water snacks soda etc. Next, I was asked about the details of what I would like in an engagement ring, they took me step by step, showed me the diamonds, the clarity differences, the cuts, the differences between lab grown and natural (which there wasn't much of a difference by the way), and the various sizes and shape of the stones. I learned more about diamonds than I ever thought was possible. None of the other jewlery chains gave me a Diamond education in that way, and the diamonds they had were nice but they were NOTHING like the unbelievable Diamond I got from John thomas Jewlers. I didn't post the actual ring picture because it was very personal and custom and I don't want to have everyone start making the same ring design because they saw it on Yelp haha, I know that sounds selfish but I spent months drawing and planning it out and taking my sketch to John thomas and working with their designer and then we did a wax mold after, a lot of work went into it. But I wanna tell you guys this, if I you can imagine it in your head, John thomas can make it a reality. They definitely knocked it out of the park. In addition to the service being better, the quality of the Diamond being better, the price was better too. I got a better product for a slightly lower price. I'll tell you one thing for sure, I'll never shop anywhere else again! When I picked up the ring, John thomas himself was attending to me. I felt privileged to get such personal service where the owner not only was finalizing my purchase but knew about my ring through every step of the process we went through. I just love how hands on he was. This is the kind of personal service that gets lost in larger chains. I wish I could give this business a million stars! P.S they have like a kids play room with what looks like a rock wall, it's cute, so you could come here with your kids while you shop and keep them entertained. My husband (then boyfriend) and I went in here not knowing what to expect after just looking at all the chain jewelry stores (Kay, Zales, etc.) and we were just blown away with their service. All the other jewelry stores told us they wouldn't be able to take my great grandmothers diamond and put it in a setting, and if they were we could only select specific settings but John Thomas looked at us like it was the easiest thing to do. My husband and I were able to design my ring off of a variety of different rings and it turned out stunning!! And better yet the price wasn't bad at all, even with a custom ring we were not charged much of an extra fee, if there was one. My great grandmothers diamond had some chips in it but John Thomas was able to work with it. They gave me such a beautiful ring that I get to wear the rest of my life. Horrible! The owner/manager is rude, condesending, and apparently doesn't care about repeat business. When I had my husband's ring made, his custom design came back wrong. When we confronted him about it, he turned the blame on us. Also, when we had my husband's ring made, they took my ring to fix, as there was an imperfection. They lost a stone from my ring that wasn't loose/missing to begin with, and THAT somehow became my fault as well! I also did not get my ring back until THE DAY BEFORE our wedding day! (Almost one month later than when they told us it would be ready!) I have nothing but praise for all of our vendors, except John Thomas Jewelers! I originally met the owner of John Thomas 7 years ago when I went looking for an engagement ring for my wife. I didn't have a lot of money but still wanted to get something, which would WOW her. John took the time to show me options within my price range, and that I could afford at that time, and explained how I could upgrade the ring over time to make it just exactly what my wife and I wanted the ring to be. My wife was Wowed when she got the ring, however, I did go back later when I had more money and saw John again. This time he was helping another customer, just as he had done with me originally; so I patiently waited, knowing I would get that same personalized service once it was my turn. John helped me find the perfect diamond for my wife's ring, and gave me exactly what I had paid for the previous diamond, so I only paid the difference between the two stones. I have since made John my source for all my jewelry needs. My latest acquisition is a blue diamond ring John is having custom made for my wife. This is the second custom piece John has created for my wife, each being spectacular, and very reasonably priced. If you are looking for personalized service, great selection, and the ability to have custom pieces created, and you want all this at a reasonable price; John Thomas Jewelers is what you are looking for, and I highly recommend them. Just be aware that if everyone is already helping customers, you will have to wait your turn; because they will not compromise the personalized service they are providing to those customers just because your inpatient.
