New bar alert! I love the vibes and they are perfect for the arts district. It's unassuming and in a great location right off of Commerce. They have a great cocktail selection as well as tons of beers and liquor options. They have an old school feel with an open window outside boasting a lovely little walk up area with seating and heat lamps. Bartender was quick and whipped up a delightful espresso martini for a very reasonable price point. Definitely give them a try when you're in the area!

Little gem in the middle of downtown! Got off work and a friend invited me to check out, Johnny Coccos!! Super new and a must stop when visiting downtown!! Great ambiance, great hits, they have this amazing open bar window concept! Great for people watching. Hip and cool aesthetic! Very intimate and cozy! They do not have a kitchen but you are welcome to bring your own food. Great service, Steve is so welcoming, easy to talk! Love it! Must try! Forgot to mention about the their outdoor patio!! Love it!

five dollar old-fashioned was amazing and the service was great shout out to Matt for the hospitality. Will definitely be coming back!

    The Legend

I had observed since late last year while strolling through the Arts District a mural-wrapped alley bar proclaiming itself as "The Neighborhood's SMALLEST BAR". So finally my curiousity got the best of me. I am going to guess that the appellation is applying itself only to the pass-through window directly below, with its three seats. Initially I parked there, but, seeing that there was actually more bar indoors, went into Johnny Coco's. The Legend ($12): Appreciably juicy with the right amount of citrus sour. Boozy. Value: Cocktails which hover closer to the $10 versus $20 mark, plus tasting great, always get the thumbs-up. Service: Very friendly from Josie. Atmosphere: The whole venue seemed to me around the same, or even had a larger footprint, than similar pocket-sized drinking establishments in the area. Inside was disco/warehouse party in black and fluorescent paint and neon lights, and well-lit shattered-mirror walled unisex facilities. Outside beyond the smallest bar window were orange picnic tables, black hightops and stools, and, for the weather, heaters. Dude-coded knickknacks adorning the shelves ranged from "Johnny Coco's" framed tiki shirt and a "juicy lucy" poster of beef cuts mapped onto a Betty Page lookalike rather than a cow or the burger, to possibly the strangest item, a neon sign advertising Dansko.

We started with the WSKY poppers -- deep fried jalapeño bites topped with bourbon bacon jam and chipotle yum yum sauce. These were hands down the best jalapeño poppers we have ever had. A must try. For entrees we ordered the fish and chips and the Cajun chicken Alfredo with sausage. The fish was cooked perfectly, tender inside with a very crisp coating on the outside. The order came with three filets along with tartar sauce, coleslaw, and hush puppies. The Cajun chicken Alfredo was amazing and very flavorful. The chicken and sausage were cut into small pieces which made it easy to eat and the sauce had great Cajun flavor without being overpowering. So glad we decided to try this place while on vacation. We would definitely order from here again.

Figured I would grab a drink and wait for traffic to die down, chat with other excited #BTSARMY get one freebie memento. It was pretty busy, but I was able to get a seat at the bar without having to wait in line. Looks like a cool place to hang out and watch sports or hang out before or after concerts. I ordered my drink and had fun chatting with other people that were at the concert. I asked the bartender if he knew what the freebie was he said he'd never heard of it. I went to the hostess and she said they didn't have any. I told her I could've gone anywhere after the concert to kill time and I chose this place because of their large light up sign. She said they ran out, but I wonder considering the bartender had no idea what I was talking about. The espresso martini was good, it was strong, and it was served in a plastic cup. Bummed, I grabbed food elsewhere.

I highly recommend Flankers! It's an upscale sports bar with an adult/mature vibe and the food and service was on point. Our server was Erika and she was attentive and very professional. The large LED screen just made the experience even more fun with plenty of TVs surrounding the establishment, all showing other sport events but at the main fight all screens were on UFC. We started off with appetizers and ofc the pretzel roll with wasabi mustard is a must. I asked for extra Heinz mustard but that wasabi mustard definitely cleansed your sinuses. The pretzel was so buttery and and covered with perfect amount of salt flakes. My husband was dying to try the pigs in blanket and if your thinking its just pigs in a blanket then think again. The order comes with 4 baby hot links with a kick and honey mustard with the wasabi spice kick. I ordered the brick chicken (comes deboned) which i highly appreciated with baby potatoes and au jus sauce with an arugula salad (vinagrette dressing). The chicken was amazing, not to heavy amd mildly spiced. Those baby potatoes melted in your mouth. My husband ordered the chicken Caesar salad and the chicken had really good flavor and not too salty with plenty of parmesan. We ordered a couple of rounds of alcohol and I got there ice tea. Stroke of a Genius drink was phenomenal ! The ambiance was modern, sexy vibe. Definitely coming back !

We went to Flanker Kitchen & Sports Bar in Mandalay Bay when it had the Christmas Parlor themed…read morepop-up last December. We were trying to visit all of the Christmasy places, and we're very excited about this one, but it was a disappointment. I had already picked out my specialty drink I wanted but when the waitress brought our menus she pointed out several of the drinks were not available any longer. I found this really disappointing since the pop-up was still going strong. Of course, the one I wanted was not on the list so I ended up ordering off the regular menu. The place was nicely decorated for Christmas but I think I just expected a little more. I started with the brussels sprouts and I've got to say they were really good. Things were looking up! But then I got my entrée which was a burnt end barbecue wedge. I am a big wedge fan and like to try them everywhere I go. This one ranked toward the bottom of my list. There were no burnt edges, and being from Texas, I knew this to be a fact. They had taken a head of iceberg lettuce and pretty much quartered it, and I've never seen a wedge served like that, especially with the core still on. The dressing was good but the meat was cold and that really took away from it. We were jokingly calling the bar Flunkers instead Flankers by the time we left. The other pop-up Christmas bars we had gone to were much more lively and had all of the items they offered on the menu! It was decent, but not one we will go back to this Christmas.
