The ladies that I got for mani pedi were meh. They were not in the least delicate .. kinda moved my hands and feet like impolite tossing. Pedicure ? Horrible ! Lil to no cuticle work , left a lot of the "removed" polish on every toe, (I didn't even want a color anymore) after she chipped two of my toe nails.. I must've had a great time yesterday, because everyone else seems angry. I had Tracy, and she was really nice and quick to help :) I loved my nail designs, i wish i could upload a picture ... but anyway, i paid $10 for design and $15 for a fill. I thought that was pretty good deal. I love their designs, and they were really nice. I would definitely come back.... If anyone knows a cheaper place with nice designs, i'm down to go. But the only "unsanitary" thing was this girl was getting a fill and using crystal gel i think, well, while buffering the nail and stuff, the lady worker who was doin her nails had dead skin and all that dust stuff in her hair. Worst service ever. I have never left a yelp review but this was ridiculous. They insisted on doing the mani and pedi at the same time which was one of the more chaotic salon experiences of my life. I wish i had walked out immediately. She was barely paying attention while trimming my cuticles which explains why she sliced into my finger leaving a large cut. A full set was $25 I believe. Small shop, just a few workers working when I was there. Staff was very friendly though. I didn't know what color I wanted so I allowed the lady doing my nails to choose for me. I really liked the colors she chose. She worked fast and did a good job. My acrylics survived camping for 3 days, all my nails lasted 3+weeks without fill. My little sister also got her first eyebrow waxing here. They did a wonderful job. Worst nail experience I've ever experienced. I've been here once and they actually satisfied my needs for my prom nails about two months ago. I usually go to Another nail shop up in capital hill but today since I was running errands down in Rainer, I decided to go to Johnny's again and my visit was full of REGRET. First of all, I stepped in and asked if they had time for a walk in Full set and Pedicure and they said they did but made me wait really long for my Set. Second of all, once they started doing my nails, Gina was REALLY aggressive toward my nails and caused my cuticles to bleed more than once. When filing my nails, she also filed my skin off. When using the nail shaver, she was also not very careful and shaved my 1/4 of my cuticle off. Getting a full set has never caused me so much pain. Even when I kindly asked Gina to be more careful/gentle to my nails, she just said "sorry honey." I can confidently say I will never come back to this place to get my nails done ever again. I would've given this place a ONE STAR but the only good thing that happened in the nail shop was Ben (?) he did my pedicure very well and the French tips were PERFECTLY done. I tipped $5 for the pedicure but $0 for the nails because it was NOT worth $45. The total came out to be $81 including the $5 tip. I never want to come back again!!!!! read more

I was afraid to go to a new salon because I did love how my previous salon did them. I needed my nails done by today because of a graduation I have to attend. I decided to try Johnny Nails, and I have no regrets! The ladies are all very friendly and make sure your nails are close to perfection!! This is now my go to salon! Full set for $38 --- Update: I tried out a new Nail tech here for a fill and my experience wasn't that great. She seemed like she was still new, she was rough with the drill around my cuticles and 2 of my fingers were bleeding... When she was using alcohol to clean my nails, I wish she was more careful around the bleeding areas cause she made it sting really bad. She also isn't as quick for a fill compared to the other techs there. I already had coffin nails, and she was making them more sharp, but I ended up with some alittle uneven and she made one of my coffin nails more round than sharp and crisp?? I think a nail job isn't good when I had to go home and fix it myself. Also when she put "top coat" on my nails they turned out more matte?? So I also had to use my top coat at home to fix it myself!! She also charged $31 when my nail fill is always $28 (I pay with card). However the quality of the shellac mani I got was very poor -- lumpy, bubbles on the sides, uneven polish and by day two all of my nails were peeling by the cuticles and one even chipped. I had been coming here for about 14 years. The service has went down and the prices went up. The finally straw. I just got a full set before my trip. I watched the nail tech apply acetone then the glue and nail. So I already knew she was making it so I would need to come back immediately. Needless to say, this will be the last time that I will pay patron to Johnny Nails. I went in today to get a mani and pedi. I walked out feeling rushed with a bloody middle finger. Ouch! The guy who performed the maniure was in no way meticulous with his service. I felt like he lacked the basic, foundational skills of a nail technician! First off, they performed the manicure while I was sitting at the spa chair. I had nail polish on prior. I was not asked to soak my cuticles, rather, he dug right into the cuticle cleaning and caused my middle finger to bleed, profusely. I had no apology from him whatsoever. He then filed my nails, without asking how I wanted it shaped or how long I wanted it kept. Nor, did he ask me to wash my hands before applying the nail polish. So I have tiny little air bubbles on some of my nails and minature bumps on the polish due to the nail filing. The icing on the cake had to be the fact that he didn't bother to clean the BLOOD or the dirt underneath my nails w/ the tools. WTF. The lady performing the pedicure was just OKAY. My only complaint was that she dropped the scrubbing tool (when she was scrubbing my feet) on the floor, picked it back up and began scrubbing my bottom sole again. I was definitely caught off guard because I was at least expecting her to rinse the scrubbing tool in the water. Not to mention, that is definitely unsanitary. Oh, did I mention that I was the ONLY client there? BTW, they now charge an additional $1 for using your credit/debt cards. read more

Okay, third time's a charm right? Apparently not! I went here two times for "spa pedicure" and was pretty impressed. Overall quality of the service was pretty fab for a place like this, kinda hole in the wall but really they took good care of my tootsies and did a damn good job. Second time was just as good and I even gave a larger than normal tip. Third time, I came in on my bday no less for spa mani/pedi. I was asked if I wanted a flower on my toes and I said yes. As usual I opted out of the polish on my fingernails as it never lasts and I'm way too active to keep it up. When it was time to pay and leave, I was told I owed $10 MORE than the price quoted on the wall (I normally pay $26 + tip). I asked why and the guy, Jonnny I assume, told me it was for the flower on my toes-that was actually forgotten by Johnny himself and never actually done plus the $2 fee for buffing my bare fingernails. WTF??? Since when do they charge for that AND why wasn't it on your little wall Johnny???? Last time I checked buffing was part of the manicure.... Oh and did I mention before all this happened, I had to ask for hand moisturizer which he then squeezed directly from the bottle into my palms for ME to rub in myself? Sorry, but isn't THAT part of the service??? What happened to the lu Not one to be taken easily, I was direct and asked why the increase in price. He tried to explain to me it was for the two flowers on my toes that were CLEARLY NOT THERE and the buffing of my bare nails. I said, "hey look at my toes, there are NO flowers there, so NO charge". As for the buffing if it is now something I'm charged for it should be on the damn board or disclosed before offering the service. You dig, Johnny??? He argued with me insisting it's a fee. Again, W T F??? Anyhow, I was prepared to give a tip, minus the flower decor fee but the guy pissed me off. He argued with me several times that the $2 buffing fee was normal. Say what? I told him, "I've never paid that before. Look today is my birthday, I've been in here before and always pay the same price + a good tip. Guess what? You've just lost your tip and your customer." I'm giving this place a 1 star because I can't leave zero! First, this place is DIRTY! Sooo dirty!! Second, the pedicure was awful. 1) The lady wasn't going to take off my old polish because it was clear! 2) She skipped filing some of my nails! 3) No massage...she spread CUTICLE OIL on my legs and feet and then wiped it off with a cold wet towel!! I asked the guy who was walking around "you guys don't give massages?" She turned to him said "I did," so he looked at me and said "she did." I said "no she didn't!" Only then did she offer to do it, but I was over it by then. I'm blown away by how busy it was, because the service was horrible! I love the service here. They are all so loving and kind. There is one lady there that literally makes me feel like my toenails aren't gremlins. Lol she is sweet and kind and patient. Both times my pedicure with her was amazing. She is very softspoken so I never can recall her name even though I always ask. I'll keep asking until I get it.
