We came here to grab some empanadas to go as we just finished dinner but wanted to try these later on and are we glad we did! We got the 4 pack along with a half order of fries. We got the beef, chicken, chorizo potato & tinga. All of them were so flavorful without being too salty. The half order of fries was huge! Enough to feed 3 or 4 people as a side. The place was super clean and the staff was incredibly friendly. I'm so glad we stopped by as we will definitely be back again!

Johnny Pacific is so good it's addictive. In fact I found myself coming back 2 days in a row after I discovered this restaurant yesterday.i was referred by an acquaintance. Johnny Pacific is worth a drive to the valley. There are many flavors of empanadas from which to choose. I ordered rhe spinach and cheese and veggie empanada. Both are poppin. I was dreaming about the spinach & cheese empanada! It was that delicious! Also got rhe watermelon Agua Fresca. Just perfect, not too sweet. Restaurant is extremely clean and cool decor with a surfing theme and even surfing magazines. Casual, comfortable seating. Very friendly and warm staff. Excellent parking in this unassuming strip mall. You're going to become a regular once you try Johnny Pacific! Reasonable prices.

Johnny Pacific has a great reputation of being a special gem, specializing in Latin-Caribbean and Pacific Island inspired empanadas. It's been around for over 20 years and is currently in a newer space than it was before; featuring more parking and a larger space. Ambiance: The interior has a relaxed feel with beachy surfer themed decor. It has a clean modern feel with a bunch of tables featuring accent colored chairs. There is music in the background and a TV on the wall featuring surfing videos. Service: You order at the counter, they ring you up and you get the food brought out. You can see the kitchen as it's open. It was my first time and it was a simple and easy experience. Everything came out in a timely fashion. Food: Some of their specialities include the 20+variations of fried empanadas (meats, chicken, pork, veggie, dessert) that come in both savory and sweet types, as well as their speciality plates such as their Korean-style flat iron steak skewers and chicken satay. The sauces they serve with their empanadas are incredible and some of the best I've ever had such as their chimmi-churri, basil-aioli and sweet & sour Thai. I recently did the lunch combo featuring a choice of a 1/2 salad or 1/2 fries, choice of any two empanadas and a canned drink. I chose beef and Kailua pig empanadas; both were great, empanadas didn't break apart and were crispy, everything was seasoned well; the filling of the beef was a bit more than the Kailua pig however. Drinks: They have various drinks such as lemonade, juices, sodas/soft drinks, and some beers on tap. Parking: The lot is large and has ample parking depending on the day and time. Prices: Prices are to the times that we're in...so not too great. Ala carte empanadas are $5+ but as you order more (4, 12) the prices come down a slight bit.

The good: the food and service is consistently great. What changed: the price of Inca Kola. Was $1.95, just like other canned soft drinks, and now $3.50 (or a $1.25 surcharge on the Lunch Special). Rationale was that suppliers cost on Inca went up. But here are some facts: According to Amazon price tracker, Inca sold for about $35 for a 24-can flat. In December 2025 the price spiked to $41, and then receded back to 35... and has held constant fever since. Why I am even writing about this: the menu board has Inca priced at 1.95. Apparently the owner changed the price on the register but couldn't be bothered to update the display menu or recognize that the price spike appears to have been a momentary blip. Like the price of gas and coffee, rises like a rocket but falls like a feather.

It's time for another update! I've been coming to this restaurant for several years now. In fact, I've been coming here ever since they were located in a smaller spot across the street from their current location. This restaurant is known for its bold, Latin-American and Pacific-inspired street food-style dishes. They offer items such as empanadas, skewers, salads, and much more! This restaurant has a relaxed, unpretentious, surf-inspired vibe. It is perfect for a lowkey lunch or casual dinner rather than a formal night out. The restaurant is spacious and offers plenty of seating. While it is located in a big shopping center, parking can sometimes be hard to find. The staff and owner are friendly and welcoming, creating a positive and personable experience. The food is always ready in a reasonable amount of time. I have had a positive experience on every single one of my visits. My go-to order is always the lunch combo. The lunch combo comes with your choice of two empanadas, fries or salad (or half and half), and a drink. This restaurant offers a nice variety of empanada fillings, such as beef, Cajun sausage, chicken, BBQ pulled pork, chorizo and potatoes, and many more options. They also offer dessert empanadas. I usually stick with the beef empanadas and fries, and I upgrade my drink to one of their lemonades (guava, pineapple, or watermelon). They also offer signature dipping sauces such as chimi-churri, chipotle (my favorite), and BBQ. As a pro tip, you can also ask for a chili sauce that is not listed on the menu. The chili sauce adds a nice kick to the empanadas and fries. The beef empanada has a classic, savory ground beef filling. It is crispy on the outside and bursting with flavor on the inside. The fries are crispy, well-seasoned, and full of flavor. They pair well with the empanadas and dipping sauces. They are very generous with their portions of fries, giving you a heaping amount. It's enough to share with another person. The only lemonade that I've tried is their guava lemonade. The lemonade is sweet, tart, and refreshing. Overall, this restaurant offers a unique vibe, great service, and some of the best empanadas in the San Fernando Valley. If you are in the mood for food that is bursting with flavor in every bite, this is the go-to restaurant for you! I've only been here twice when visiting the valley, and I can say that the beef tinga empanadas are good!! i have tried both the chicken and the Kailua pork empanadas which are good too-- however, I would say get the beef tinga if you're thinking of trying just one! there's a large parking lot so easier parking than some of those really tight fitting parking lots in the valley the actual inside of Johnny pacific is more spacious than you think. It's clean and plenty of space for solo dining, a casual date, or even group dining tables! I remember when this place was a hole in the wall. They even serve beech now! I hope that they continue to flourish in this economy!- sending all the positive energy!

Our favorites were the mushroom, kalua, chorizo, beef, apple, flanada and pineapple. We also loved the sauces (chimichurri, basil, caramel, chipotle and sweet and sour). Been coming here since they had a smaller store front across the street. Always greeted with a friendly staff. Everything here is so delicious. Can never decide on which empanada to eat. The chorizo and beef ones are definitely my favorite. Whenever the pumpkin ones are in season, I always have to stop by and pick those up.

Best empanadas ever!!!! The owner knows how to make a good, tasty and authentic empanada! The inside has plenty of seating if you want to hang out and eat. I prefer to get mine to go. Food was amazing I loved their veggie options. I got the spinach & cheese and it was so cheesy and delicious. They also have dessert options and I always get the Nutella Banana empanada it's coated with powdered sugar and comes with a side of caramel to dip the empanada into. Oh wow.. This place is pulled me in 2x in one week - best empanadas and the dipping sauces - heaven! I ordered the dozen and had them split-up about 10 between the meats and reserved 2 for the dessert flanada (sp?) empanada. Small place with limited seating inside - but both times I went, getting a table was not a problem. Parking is right outside, if not, street parking (worth the little walk). The lady who works there is friendly and helpful since I wasn't sure what to order during the first visit. I especially enjoyed the cajun sausage! These guys seriously can't do wrong. read more

Absolutely amazing. I got the dozen and tried the Kailu Pig, Chicken el Pastor, Beef Tinga, Corn, Spinach and Cheese, Chorizo Potato, and Mushroom. Every single one was delicious. The beef tinga and chicken el pastor were my favorite. All the sauces were good too. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying the salads and other dishes. Highly recommend. read more

Stopped in on my way to Topanga to but candles from that homemade candle place. I got lost really lost and took a lunch break at Johnny Pacific which is in a tiny strip mall and had the signature salad it was incredible. I love having this spot in my neighborhood. Extremely convenient when entertaining with time restraints. I'll order a dozen or two empanadas and within 15 to 20 minutes they're ready. I was surprised at how much their prices had gone up. The online prices were no longer applicable. $14.95 for 2 small skewers with maybe 4-5 small pieces of meat, a veg empanada (small) scoop of rice and some greens. That's way too much money. The empanadas were okay but everything else was mediocre. read more

Ono grindz but long wait. Small joint and when it's busy expect to wait but, the waiting is so worth it. The empanada choices and the taste one of the best empanada's I've had - not too oily and everything inside was fresh. Could improve with more space and probably one more to help run the front of the house. Good stuff though! read more

The guy in the back came out to help the lady at the register, but he had an attitude. Like if u don't like your job don't work there. They didn't greet me, they were having problems with the iPad & he was already frustrated. Then he took it out on me! I ordered the lunch special with a salad & 2 empanadas, my salad was half of what I usually get & I only got one empanada. After paying $10.85 including the nasty lemonade. read more

This place is absolutely awesome! My fiance had never had empanadas and has been talking about going here for weeks. Honestly it's kinda easy to miss but the sign is nice and stands out from the other stores in the small strip mall but once you open the door the quality is hard to miss. The atmosphere is intimate and inviting, the staff was above and beyond friendly and the food! Omg the food!! Not only did it come out crazy fast but it was positively delicious. We had chicken, beef, corn and pork empanadas. I don't like pork but this was probably my favorite! Location is super convenient to our house and this will be a definite go to spot for visiting guests and local friends alike. If you're on the fence, seriously do yourself a favor and go, it's kinda gonna change your life read more

This place showcases beach side street food from around the world, so they have a wide array of epanadas, bbq'd meats on skewers, as well as daily fish special. I was born and raised on a small island, and I say they do represent island street food well. Let's just say where I am from the only form of street food I can think of is empanadas and bbq on sticks.They never have brown rice as it says on the menu, but they always have white rice or sticky rice, as they call it. I'm a sucker for brown rice, if you didn't know that already. I find their restaurant is hard to notice from the street, because it is hiding in the typical Valley strip mall with cleaners and an convenience store as neighbors. The lit sign on the corner only says "EMPANADAS" in big bold letters. From the outside it doesn't look like anything special, but go inside and the warm colors and the beach theme is comforting and refreshing. At first I thought the serving looked kinda of small, but my meal came with an epanada so it was more than enough. I usually get the fish though, because I happen to love fish. It comes with a Thai inspired coconut emulsion. I love that the side salad it comes with has fresh mangoes. I've also had the chimichurri skewers but I think I should try the korean ones next. I wonder if any of their empanadas are jerk inspired. I had a thing for Jamaican empanadas for a while. I don't see any of their menu but they have everything else, including some cajun, kalua pig, chorizo, beef tinga, vegetarian ones, and even desserts ones like chocolate banana, custard, and apple. What I like best about this place though is its simplicity. Pick a plate, pick an empanada, and you are good. read more

I have never had a real empanada till I came here. It was amazing, they are made on the pot and perfectly crisp. I had it two days in a row (don't judge me). I will make it a point to stop here next time I'm in town. I highly recommend the Beef and Apple empanadas. You will not regret your decision. read more

This sandwich is definitely worth coming back for. Overall, I say try it. Or at least, try the steak sandwich with some fries.

Do not get me wrong the food is good and I had met the owner before. The owner is super sweet... But the two workers tonight was rude...I order meals for my family on the phone and came in to pick up my order and paid with my credit card and was about to tip in cash...but when I can hear them announcing to the other worker in spanish that I gave them no tip...it totally change my mind to give them a tip at all...what make them think they can ask for a tip. Here is a tip for the two workers...when someone is paying with there credit card and they write zero on the tip...do not assume they are not going leave you a tip. People give tip in cash instead on adding it on the credit card. And here is a tip for the owner you might want to write your new prices over you old menu. If not, do not leave your old menu out on the register.Also, customer service and friendliness is everything. Great vibe inside, they have tv's and the decor inside the restaurant is very calming and cozy environment which is great. Ordered the #1 Island Combo which comes with Grilled Angus Korean style flat iron steak skewers with sticky rice, choice of empanada and house made dipping sauce and a handful of organic field greens with balsamic vinaigrette. Whole meal is very filling and is great for 1 person. The skewers were cooked to medium which was very good and juicy. Sticky Rice was complemented with eel sauce on top. The empanada was great. Full of flavor and very hot. The salad was fresh and the vinaigrette really went well with the meal. Definitely would come back and order this again. This place was wonderful! One of my friends loves Latin American cuisine, and this place did everything to fulfill her expectations. We went on a Monday night, and the place was fairly packed. There is decent seating, so we got a table outside on the grounds that the climate was pleasant. I got the Chicken Al Pastor - - and it was SO tasty. The sauce was incredible - I couldn't taste excessively of spices, however it was truly appetizing and all around adjusted. The chicken were pleasant and firm, and ran superbly with the sauce. Our table requested caramel apple empanadas as an afterthought which were pleasant and caramelized with fresh edges. They were thickly cut and delicate within. My mouth is watering simply thinking about them. The vibe of the eatery was truly awesome as well. It was an cool place, the service was awesome, and the value was far and away superior. They have really good food. Johnny Pacific is a small place. Expect no more than half a dozen tables, but don't let that deter you. Most people order to go, and with reason. Johnny Pacific honestly has some of the best empanadas in Los Angeles. I am really partial to the beef tinga empanada, though I have also tried the bbq pulled pork and chicken empanadas as well. Their signature sauces are pretty good also. If you are throwing a party, then you can't go wrong with ordering a big assortment of empanadas from Johnny Pacific. Obviously, they are very good with take out orders. Expect good, friendly service. I have read some of the positive and not so positive reviews, and I guess that everyone has different expectations. I do like the peanut sauce too but I could take a bath in the chimichurri sauce it's so delicious. It comes with a great, fresh salad with a lovely balsamic vinagarete and rice. The burger which is the "smaller" version of the outlaw burger is huge! They have this rule that you're not supposed to cut your burger in half but there was no way I was gonna be able to handle it & wrap my mouth around it at the same time so cut it half I did. I'm from out of the area but this little place was recommended to me. When I pulled up, I was having second thoughts about the place because of the little strip mall it was in, but glad I went in. I had a combo that was recommended to me that came with skewer, fries, salad and an empenada. I picked the bacon jalapeno because who could resist that? His dishes, if I recall, were inspired from his days of travel - he literally lives off empanadas. My favorite is the El pastor always with the basil Aïoli dipping sauce.
