When we came in, we were greeted right away. The inside is small, but spacious enough to easily view the menu on the back walls and look at all the baked goods without being too close to other people. Everything looked great. I would love to try all their cakes, they look so good and fresh. The breads are definitely awesome and fresh too, it was coming out from the back when we were there, and you can see some condensation on the display letting you know they are hot and fresh. It took a few minutes of scanning the menu, and looking at the desserts, before we were ready and chose to order. We ended up getting a steak sandwich and the two empanada plate. For the empanadas, we tried the beef and the chicken. The empanadas are not that great. The beef one was ok, but the chicken was not worth trying again. The star of the plate was the french fries. Those were awesome and cooked very well. The steak sandwich was very good. It was loaded with steak. The steak pieces were tender. Everything about the sandwich was good. The bread was the same one they sold in the display. The lettuce and tomatoes, fresh. The avocado that costed $3 extra, loads, probably a whole small avocado. This sandwich is definitely worth coming back for. Overall, I say try it. Or at least, try the steak sandwich with some fries. read more

I opted for two empanadas ($4 each; quantity discount for take-out only) - the spinach, and the shrimp & cheese - and their Mil Hojas (puff pastry with dulce de leche and vanilla cream. Stepping into Chilenazo reminded me a lot of living in Valpo. I wanted to share some warm, flaky, buttery pockets of goodness with my coworkers, and grabbed an extra just for me! Came here for the Empanadas. Parking can be hit or miss. Located in a small plaza with a lot of businesses. Best advice is get here early. I ordered the Beef and Chicken Empanadas. The outer crust was incredible. Just like my aunt makes em. The meat on both was fresh and absolutely delicious. The size of each empanada was very filling. They give you two different types of sauces. I like em plain. The dining area is pretty good sized. I ordered them to go. But will absolutely dine here in the future. They have digital menus and flat screen TV's that were playing soccer games. The wall decor will full of Chilean photos. I'd highly recommend them. Seems like they definitely specialize in Empanadas so it's a must have for me to try next time. I ordered the fish and chips to go. I've been coming here for seven or eight years now. I walk in today and they don't have any of the empanadas that I always buy. The store is rearranged and there's a new guy working there that doesn't speak English very well. I ordered cheese empanadas because they didn't have any cheese and shrimp empanadas and the guy gave me beef empanadas, and then argued with me that I ordered beef when I didn't. They tried to charge me for the extra salsa and they only gave me a tiny bit. The floor arrangements been redone. I think it's under a new management. Basically, I ended up with two cold cheese empanadas and only ate one of them and left. This place sucks. I suggest avoiding this place for a while until they work out the kinks. read more

Luckily, the two objects of desire converged while running an errand in the area. Got six empanadas - chicken (2), beef, ham-and-cheese (2), and one spinach. It wasn't my first time enjoying Chilean empanadas, but I feel like this was the first set of pastries that emphasized the egg in the filling. A nice touch. And so was that green salsa. Think the chicken and spinach ones were my favorites, but they were all tasty. And the leftovers reheated well in my airfryer oven. Chilean food anyone? I was coming back to Chilenazo after a while so that I could savor its food and review the restaurant. It is a small place in a strip mall on Canoga Avenue in Canoga Park, with friendly and excellent service. My plan was to only have empanadas. I ordered the shrimp with cheese and the beef empanadas. Both were superb. I had to wait for both empanadas and they came out piping hot. Seems they were flash baked because the crusts were crisp. One could taste the shrimp in the empanada and its flavor was not overwhelmed by the cheese. The beef empanada had a very mild flavor and also contained raisins and hard-boiled egg parts. What I liked most was that both the empanada dough coverings had different colors, different finger and mouth feel, different texture and different taste. Salsa Verde was my favorite salsa. It had tones of cilantro, garlic and Serano chilies. There is a reason why I go into a restaurant and only order appetizers and leave. This is especially true when there are other items on the menu that catch my eye (here it was Chilean pies, tamale, chicken, beef and fish dishes). This gives me the opportunity and the excuse to come back soon. That is my wish for Chilenazo. read more

THEY WERE ALL SOOOOO DELICIOUS!! Prices were average, portions were decent, service was good! Place was clean. Parking could be difficult sometimes. Not much displayed behind the glass counter.
