I can always spot an Johnny Was. Attitude here...well...I don't know. You will certainly have an attitude as well if you are in a position to procure threads here. They did let me appreciate (admire) all the "creations" and touch everything without too much ado and wished for me that I could buy all I desired here. I like Johnny Was products and this review is a reflection of my in-store experience at this location over Memorial Day weekend. What Happened: The Ines Kimono on display caught my attention and I asked the sales associate if they had a different color scheme. She goes on to shout the price out loud as if I wasn't standing directly in front of her instead of simply answering my question. I was immediately taken aback, not because of the price, but why would she tell me the cost out loud when price tags exist? She then proceeds to justify the price due to limited availability and craftsmanship and tells me to check another store for the item because they only had one color (blue/green) at that location. I reminded the sales associate that I do not like the color before walking out. Store Advice: I suggest that the next time a customer walks into the store that they are encouraged to try on the available garments and reference the other color options that are available to purchase online if it is a good fit for their style. My budget should not be of concern to a sales associate considering I could buy all 3 colors for that style if I wanted to. It's lame and off putting to shout out the prices. I feel like she thought I could not afford to spend on the item I was interested in. read more

First time in a Johnny Was store! As so excited to see this shop as I was strolling in Palm Canyon during Small Business Saturday. Just weeks before a friend was wearing a gorgeous face mask and when I inquired about where she bought it, she said Johnny Was. I was like, huh? Johnny who? After a quick search I found their online store and immediately purchased a four pack of their gorgeous masks. If we have to wear them, we may as wear fashionable ones! It was wonderful to see and touch the clothing and accessories in person. The prints are intricate and vibrant, some embroidered, others silk, all stylish and high quality. So happy I came upon this shop! Of course I bought several packs of masks to give as gifts and a new dress for myself! Those working there were super helpful and cheerful. Bohemian bourgeois boutique. This colorful and vivacious shop located in the heart of downtown Palm Desert has exquisite gowns, sweaters, shirts and bags for lavish prices (200+). My aunt introduced me to Johnny Was. There is a small sale area that housed a gorgeous embroidered jacket. Initially priced over $600, it was reduced to $425. I instantly loved it, but decided to think about the investment further. I returned to the shop after seeing a lovely gown ($350ish) in the window. While the gown didn't fit my form properly, the jacket did...The clothes truly are one-of-a-kind. The two staff members, Jacquelyn & Jeanette, were both incredibly helpful, friendly, and down-to-earth. I felt genuinely welcomed into the store, which, given my post-yoga appearance (disheveled hair, jeans, tank top), was a lovely surprise, as I have previously encountered pretentious staff members in boutiques. I had never been a brick and mortar Johnny Was, even though I've loved this brand for so, so long. I think my first Johnny Was piece is about 15 years old now, but I honestly didn't realize they had bricks and mortar stores. We drove past it and my jaw dropped, so after lunch we walked over. Jeni doted on my mom and me, and I tried on so many pieces I loved. I could have spent so much money, but in the end I was able to narrow it down to a few pieces - a rash guard, a swimsuit, and a cotton dress with embroidery at the neck. My mom treated me, which was extra sweet since we were in Palm Springs for her birthday, but that's my mom. I was debating buying a really nice silk dress, and I asked Jeni to hold it for me while I made up my mind. When she texted me later, I told her I had decided I needed to wait on investment pieces until my kids are a little bigger and I am less likely to get my clothes destroyed by the toddler life. She was super sweet about it, and I still pine for that dress. read more

This is my favorite Johnny Was location. Customer service is super friendly and they do not hesitate to go above and beyond. If they do not have what you're specifically looking for, it can be ordered and mailed directly your home or office. I always look forward to visiting this store. read more

This store is awesome! I love the clothes! I love the staff! Jenni, Kele and Stephanie are absolutely wonderful! They are stylish professionals that know what looks good on a woman. Jenni knows my style and fit, so does Kele. They are always happy. We laugh and talk and they treat me like an old friend. I go shopping there whenever Im in Palm Springs. The clothing is awesome. I love the fabrics because I can wash them in my washing machine on a low cycle. My shape is awkward but I find that their clothes fit really well and appeal to a wide range of ages. I mix and match their pieces in interesting colors and textures. Clothing designer, Bee is wonderful. I understand her design and her clothing represent me. Alive, expressive, eclectic, unique and colorful. Love this store! Its the best! You'll have fun shopping with these fun girls! Ask for Jenni, Kele and Stephanie. The workers are extremely rude and try to intimidate you. Especially the store manager. I went on Black Friday to pre sale some leggings left my phone number with the assistant manager and they never reached back to me so I purchased embroidered joggers online since in person they selectively chose who they want to sell to in their store. read more

The store manager running the place during the day is RUDE. I came in to replace items stolen from me at Palm Valley Country club which was a rental through Fairway Vacation. She offered water said a few words and made hissing sounds like I was bothering her. She started counting clothing. Now it was mu understanding that customers are first. If we don't make purchases there are no jobs and of course no reason to count clothing. The company needs to retrain her or select a replacement. I like the clothing but not her attitude. read more

Shopping at Johnny Was in Palm Springs is truly a delightful experience. The entire store is filled with beautiful clothes and the sales staff is excellent.
