I'm at a loss for words as to how rude and disrespectful the front desk staff was. I was here visiting friends and I had to make two separate reservations with the hotel one for Friday one for Saturday as they were very booked. My card was charged for both rooms ahead of time. When I checked in, I explained to the front desk person, and she told me she made sure that the reservation was made into one and that I could stay in the same room for the whole weekend - no problem (she was very nice). I came back to my room at 930 at night and my key card didn't work. The staff in this hotel went INTO my room and PACKED UP MY THINGS in the middle of my stay. I went to the lobby and spoke with a woman who said that they had deactivated my card. They didn't understand why I had two separate reservations. This was an error completely on their end and they acted like I was the problem. She was rude, unhelpful and unapologetic. The rooms were paid for, and the fact that they were prepaid AND that I had stayed the night before meant they COULD HAVE CALLED me if there was a problem. Instead, the staff PACKED ALL OF MY CLOTHING up that was laid out on a desk, and put it away in my suitcase. They touched everything I brought - folded my belongings, even putting away my toothbrush and toothpaste in my suitcase. I feel so VIOLATED - they did not apologize even though the error was on their end. She just smugly said it was a misunderstanding with no apology. Oh really? Not mine!!! I would not recommend this hotel and I already cancelled the reservation I had in April!!!

The staff was warm and friendly. I only have one criticism. While the A/C was working, we had difficulty regulating it to feel comfortable. It was rather cold and clammy at night, but by morning, we felt fine. It wasn't so much the cold part that bothered me, but the clammy part was what got to me. Everyone kept saying how unseasonably hot and humid it was for Stowe, so who knows... maybe the A/C just had difficulty regulating itself... or we didn't know how to use it properly. It wasn't bad, per se, but it was a little uncomfortable some of the time. The room overall, though, was really great. Also, we loved that they had Netflix and Amazon Prime, so we could settle into the shows we were missing while traveling. That was a nice surprise ! Most hotels don't offer any of that. We had planned to dine out at one of the local restaurants, but we found out they were serving dinner at Grant's, the inn's restaurant. We were tired after traveling around all day, so we stayed at the inn and ate a great meal at Grant's. (See separate review for that.) Also, the common areas in the main building next to the restaurant are very tastefully appointed, spacious, with lots of games, books and sitting areas for people to utilize. We walked around them to see what there was but returned to our room to relax and watch some of our shows. My only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. One night in Stowe just isn't enough, especially at the Stowe Village Inn. Let's hope there will be a next time !

The price / night was reasonable, the breakfast included was very standard (coffee, tea, some breakfast pastries / bagels) but did its job to keep us energized for the days of exploring Stowe or hitting the slopes (!) The staff were nice, helpful and friendly. We look forward to coming back soon and staying when in Stowe.

Dinner started with an anchovy amuse-bouche that had a nice savory taste. They even offered a free glass of champagne for my birthday. The grilled octopus was nice and light, and the cauliflower was okay with the dish. It was a smaller potion, but left room for the remaining courses. The tagliatelle was cooked well and the tomatoes and mushrooms added nicely to the dish. This was a nice sized portion, and definitely filling. The chocolate raspberry tart was more on the chocolatey side. Maybe my least favorite course from those I had, but nonetheless still good. The check came with petit four which was a nice touch. My waiter, Sergiu, was delightful and made me feel welcome the entire time. I really enjoyed my dinner here and would look to return.

We arrived on Friday morning prior to check in time, and the staff got us situated in the cozy front common room with a roaring fire and yummy cappuccinos. When it was time to check in, a nice man offered to start a fire for us in the wood burning stove in our room. And he did it multiple times throughout our stay. Everyone throughout the weekend was so wonderful, but we specifically remember Mehnaz and Amelie. They work hard, bring positive energy, and do it all with a smile. The food was also excellent. We had dinner at both restaurants and really enjoyed each experience. The breakfast was also top notch and I wish I could replicate the bacon they serve. Overall, 20/10 stars... we cannot wait to come back! Getting married this fall in Waitsfield and planning on spending the night after our wedding at the Pitcher Inn. Highly recommend!

At the very least, you'll have a very comfortable stay. Greg and Willie will go above and beyond to make sure your overall visit to Vermont is worthwhile. We decided to travel to Vermont last minute for New Year's Eve. We booked the Moose Meadow Lodge on the drive up. We were welcomed with open arms. Greg showed us around the property, the lobby shop, brought us to our room and explained all the unique and exciting details of the house and property. We woke up each morning to a beautifully prepared breakfast. Since our trip was so last minute, we didn't have much of a plan. Greg was kind enough to sit down with us and help us map out our entire journey. He even helped us map an alternate route home that was more scenic. We didn't get to everything on the list, but everything he mentioned was perfect. You can tell he has a genuine love and passion for what he does. The atmosphere is classy and casual with friendly hosts and severs who take time to answer menu questions and be sure you have what you would like. With a full bar, vast wine and beer list featuring local selections, and a variety of non-alcoholic beverage options, there is something for everyone. Our meal began with a flavor packed broth soup, featuring lemon, parsley, chicken and rice. The hearty portion was perfect for 3 to share. Next came the salads: baby greens with pickled onions and homemade vinaigrette, and rubbed kale with cranberries and nuts. Delicious! The swordfish main is crafted with an amazing balance of sweet blueberry sauce and a touch of cayenne to make the flavors pop. The chicken dish featured a tasty glaze and features grilled lemon, a surprise twist. Both mains were served with a veggie side and atop smashed potatoes- creamy and flavorful, and with lots of texture. Dinner was capped by the featured dessert, blueberry lemon panna cotta. So smooth, creamy, and heavenly! Just the right amount of citrusy syrup to complement the richness. Gather features fresh and local ingredients. This family owned and run restaurant is one of many endeavors Lisa and Jonathan Burr have successfully fully created. You will not be disappointed with your Gather dining experience!
