The hallway smelled like wet carpet, very musty. The pictures of the lodge is not what we received. Our room was very small. It was only 7 foot wide and it had two twin beds in room. On the positive side , the staff was very friendly and beds were soft.

My favorite spot at the end of the day.

I have not been on a true vacation in several years. My friend and I stayed here for the Vermont portion of our trip. The White Horse Inn was EXACTLY what we needed. Relaxed, Quite, Serene and just Beautiful. My favorite spot on the property was relaxing by the pond and just listening to nature. Our hosts, Bob, Allen & Teddy (the resident canine) were all laid back and kind. Breakfast was prepared by resident chef, Allen, and was delicious. The select evening treats were a nice touch. This B&B is remotely located but within reasonable distance from tourist attractions and has plenty of local attractions (Skiing, hiking, rivers, swimming holes and abundant nature) as well. We are looking forward to revisiting again in the future

The breakfast was the best food I have had in a bed and breakfast in Vermont. Great value. The bedding is not the most comfortable but the fireplace and other accommodations make up for this one short coming. I highly recommend staying here

    Beautiful Inn

We enjoyed the breakfast and a good view by the window. Lots of selection. The bed was comfortable, although it made some noise when moving. the bathroom is good size. The walls are thin you can hear noise from other rooms, but we afe not bothered by it. Overall the place is charming and has alot of characte which we really really love!

Karen & Mick are the most wonderful innkeepers and keep the space warm and inviting at all times. Karen also happens to make the best breakfast scones (fig and vanilla! cheddar and chive!) in the morning that are served warm, freshly baked, with butter and jam. We particularly love how it is dog friendly, too!

Prepare to have your day begin with a thoughtfully-curated, multi-course selection of delicious food. Breakfast starts off with a fresh scone (the vanilla Fig ones were our favorite) and then a creative fruit plate of sorts, and, finally, the showstopper (puff pancakes with maple bacon, breakfast cubanos to name a few). Starting your day off with these elaborate breakfasts is truly such a treat. The location: Incredible. Tons of restaurants (we loved Peasant), amazing breweries (Lawsons!), scenic hikes (can snowshoe from the property), skiing and more! There is even a farm with pigs / cows/ tractors 2 minutes from the property that our toddler son went absolutely bananas for. The property: Magical. Hard to describe the serenity that the property espouses. It is truly magic. The main Inn is so cozy with a roaring fire every morning and night, amazing guests to chat with and cookies to enjoy by the fire after a long day of skiing / snow-shoeing / drinking beer - whatever floats your boat. There is also an incredible hot tub and cozy robes to take advantage of. The Innkeepers, Mick and Karen: no words can describe how amazing they are. There is a reason why every other review mentions them -- they are warm, caring and make you feel so incredibly welcome in their place. You feel as though you are staying with your family at the most amazing, cozy place you could possibly imagine. It is clear they care deeply about their guests and go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. They cater to your particular interests/ needs and really do go above and beyond for their guests. Every little touch this place offers makes for a truly incredible experience. To summarize - DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND STAY HERE !!! This place does amazing things to your soul.

"I need a place to rest my weary bones" what is nearby? So very thankful I was near the Mad River Inn B&B!! My requirements were simple-a bed, a pillow and sleep...I'm gone early am was the plan. Beautiful place, lots of charm, love the antiques! Lovely rooms! The tea and coffee stations were superb...I'm a diehard coffee drinker but the tea station (selections and dainty china teacups) hooked me. Breakfast was beyond amazing and delicious (omelet-eye rolling fresh gooey cheese, and fresh fruit.) The other guests were mostly returning guest or friend of someone who had stayed here. Friendliest people ever! Felt very at home with this entire way too short stay. The total kicker for me was when I returned home....took 425 leaf peeping and Vermont photos and the only ones I truly loved and felt were spectacular were taken in the back yard of the Mad River Tavern!!! Loved this so much that I am Seriously rethinking my February birthday trip NH and my usual place (15 years)....it was that wonderful of a stay at the Mad River Inn.
