i'm really disappointed that I'm going to be having to write a poor preview because she really deserves all the best. She's a great barber she's fast, she does a great job , people come and drive hours to get their haircut from her but as far as getting in contact with her that is my only issue with her business. I called the number that's stated under her business it rings 20 times and then it says " your phone number can't be completed as dialed please call again. " but then I call 15 minutes later and there's a busy signal I hear so I don't know if she's just not picking up my phone calls and her phone still working or what or she has a new number but that isn't professional at all and just dosent make any type of sense if she wants more business ?.. you think she would at least update her phone number for her business.. but anyways great barber, professional once you get an appointment and you get in there but as far as contacting and getting her to get on the phone good luck. read more

Three counties, five cities, nine barber shops/salons, and way too many bad haircuts that I would like to forget; I have finally found someone who actually knows how to cut my hair (by the way which is not very hard to cut, but you wouldn't think so by what I've had gone through). Amy definitely knows how to cut guys hair and make it look even and precise. All I had to do was explain and show a picture of how my hair was supposed to look and from the very first swipe of the clipper I knew it was right. I don't live anywhere remotely close to Pacifica, but I didn't mind the 30 minute drive just to go to someone who knows how to cut my hair. If your tired of those salons cutting your hair and just not being quite up to snuff, then Johnny 's should be the place to go. read more

It's good to call this place beforehand just to see how long the wait is gonna be especially if you're going to this place late in the afternoon or on Saturday. Amy is quick, precise, and still manages to be easy to talk to about hella random topics. Time passes quick waiting since she has drinks (sodas water coffee etc), snacks (cookies candy etc), and a varied assortment of magazines (Time, Ebony, Maxim etc). read more

I have been going to see Amy since I was 10 years old. She knows how to cut hair and is very fast, friendly and inexpensive. Keep in mind this place is CASH ONLY. She does take appointments, but they will be "close" to the time that you set it for...(not exact). I've been comming to this barber shop for a while now. The lady does a decent job of cutting a fade. She messed up a few times, but its not completely her fault, I've walked in there with some bad pillow head and hat hair before, and being that she did a good job, I can't complain. Absolutely Superior. Amy is skilled, pleasant, and fast. I have never gotten a bad cut--midday frenzy or last appt on Saturday. Consistent, efficient, she is like a machine. If you don't mind waiting, drop in anytime. She always has one or two or more on deck, so appointments make sense. Get there on time and she'll be ready for you. In and out. Burn and turn. Quality without compromise, at a fair price. Amy is a gem. Truly a delight and an incredible technician. The fact that the same poster of "Modern Hairstyles" has been hanging on the wall since I was a little kid is just a nostalgic bonus... at 10 yrs old I would have loved "The Bowl Cut" or "Flat Top," fashion cornerstones of the late disco era, but Dad always mandated the "Businessman Haircut." Which incidentally is not among the choices of modern hairstyles. Nowadays, when I sit down in the chair and Amy asks, "What are we doing, dear?" This is the best barber shop in Pacifica, hands down. Granted, its not the traditional barber shop you might be looking for, but Amy is a true professional. She is a sweet and hard-working woman who always cuts my hair perfectly in no time at all. One suggestion I can make is to be patient. The irony of it all is that when I first came to the Bay in 2007 from the NYC, I drove by, saw Amy cutting hair, and thought to myself that she wouldn't be able to handle the precision of cutting flat top in a speedy manner. Boy was I wrong! She has a huge male clientele so finding the best time to go there is a challenge. I would have given her 5 stars, but the comment she made (the last visit) about the shape of my head being too hard handle for a flat top was her downfall. Most of her clientele are in-and-out in 5 minutes or less, so "the quicker the cut, the quicker the buck!" LMAO! read more

After having my hair (which really isn't that hard to cut) get f'd up by a different establishment I decided to check out Yelp for barber shops and came across Johnny's Barber Shop. It seemed like a lot of older reviews, but the high rating made me curious and I figured I might as well check it out. The first time I went there were 2 guys ahead of me and it was in the middle of the afternoon. Interesting. I never had to wait in the middle of the day. I got my cut and she did a great job fading and lining me up. That was 2 weeks ago and I went again yesterday very early and there was still a few people ahead of me. Again a great cut. I'm ready for Christmas and plan on going again right before New Year's so I can look nice and clean to kick off 2010. The cut is $15 and worth it. She also mentioned calling ahead to see if there was a long wait and she would schedule me in at specific times. Great cut, nice lady. I'm sold. I'll be going to Johnny's Barber Shop from now on...helps me maintain my sexy. read more

this is by far the best fade south of the city.......amy is amazing and fast at what she does.....she will not rush through your cut to move the line either which can be long sometimes. get the face and skull lined up for $19.00 a deal at twice the price. i moved 65 miles away and still only get lined up by amy. read more

The reason why I'm rating this 4 stars instead of 5 is because Amy is rather inconsistent. Her fades don't come out that nicely because she rushes her haircuts. It's funny how most of her customers can't tell or don't mind. Me on the other hand, because I also cut hair myself I can't stand to have an inconsistent haircut read more

I have been going to Amy for years and travel from Redwood Shores to get a hair cut. There is a reason why there is a line out the door. Usual wait time is about a half hour since in the walk ins are so strong. She freely sets appointments to get you up the line. She is very quick and does a great job!! read more

In 2002, our son sat in my lap in Amy's barber chair. He screamed, well... like a two year old! She acted like a snake-charmer distracting him in all directions. Despite his protests, she gave him a precision cut! The reward? A lollipop! Our son has loved seeing Amy for the past 7 years and every time he looks great (and he loves getting a piece of candy each visit too.) She's very popular and you will likely have to wait (call in advance or get there before the afternoon rush.) I have never seen a female customer, but I have seen her cut some very complex designs into hair. Amy is friendly and very quick. For the price, you get a quality cut/shave... and I have seen her brandish a straight edge razor on occasion. If you don't like something, she'll fix it - there is no drama! The shop needs a good cleaning and updating, but frankly, I could care less. She caters to male clientele and has a variety of magazines (Maxim and Rolling Stone come to mind.)
