the food was good. a bit pricy for what i got. i got the spinach burrito. had no egg or chicken nothing just spinach cheese and other veggies. and got an horchata. this was close to evening and my drink was watered down but i had left was not going to turn back. i think they should taste test there drinks throughout the day to refreshen the taste if needed. burrito could be a bit lower in price or keep the same just add some white eggs. overall was good for the time being friendly service and was good on time. line moved well for drive thru read more

Not bad for first time. We had Barbacoa/veggie/Chile relleno burritos. The barbacoa burrito was good as the meat wasn't dry and had a good taste with the cilantro and onions and sauce on the side. The tortilla was very good. The veggie was made with a wheat tortilla that made it taste different but not too bad. The Chile relleno was good but the tortilla was a little hard. We need to try again and see if there is any difference. We usually buy our burritos at the burrito factory in el Centro. read more

Johnny's is everything I love about life. The warmth and crunchiness and bursting flavor is what gets me through the day. I dream about their cheesy, crunch fries with cheese and avocado and their crispy taquitos that melt in your mouth... Ok but really. Johnnys is love. Their customer service can not be compared. They truly care about each and every customer and the quality of the food really shows it. There are time that the avo is a little weird. I'll say it. Buuut if you complain about it to management they are more than accommodating and work to fix the situation. Their tea is by far my favorite sweet tea in the whole valley and their bean and cheese burritos are one of the best Iv'e ever had. I have to say that I am not a big fan of their carne asada- it's too salty and a weird texture but sometimes it works with the fries. ok if you look at my ratings here on yelp, I always give a true actual account of my experience with the restaurant. First of all I have been a fan of Johnnys since the 70s when the owner was still alive and the taco business started out in the little grocery store and the burritos were made there in the store from meat in a pot. Very good, later he moved accross the street to the current location. my favorite is the combination beef and bean and the egg, bean and bacon burrito. so its what 40 or 50 years of Johnny's burritos. the true measure of a great restaurant is the consistency of top level food. I don't know how the legendary johnnys descendants have managed to keep the food top level good. Well last month in 2021, I had time to kill and hadn't eaten breakfast so good opportunity to grab 2 burritos of egg bacon and bean. it was 9:00am so the morning rush had gone down. well what a disappointment the burritos were not the burritos of the past greatness. First of all there must be a connection to Fiesta brand tortillas because tbis is what they have always used since day one. These tortillas are cold dry and tastless. the egg was cold balls of eggs probably cooked at 6:00 am and but in a big stainless pan with no moisture and no taste, the beans were probably from yesterday and were dry, tasteless. the salsa which has been the same for decades is lifeless and unspicy. the burritos are bigger that a small burrito but 2 burritos is too much food. I am sorry but other franchises like Burrito Factory are bound to crush the burrito legend giant like Johnnys. so sad for the family decendants which unless they clean up their act and get better tortillas and fresh food their business will be going down. this review is of the El Centro Location. this location does not allow them to have a drive through. moving anywhere in el centro with a drive through is the only thing which will help them stay in the burrito race. and please stick to the past practices of fresh food. anywhere you go to order a egg burrito they cook the eggs from cracking a fresh egg. not by spooning egg from a cold precooked pan. the bacon was also cold and broken uplike it was the cheapest bacon you could buy. I was so disappointed that I got in line at 2:20 and when the supervisor got in front of me, they closed :( I explained this was my last meal until returning to Chicago. You know, nostalgic? Since this is ALWAYS MY LAST MEAL IN THE VALLEY BEFORE HEADING OUT. Johnny's Burritos is an institution in Brawley, and it's nice to have one in Imperial to get my fix when I'm in the South end. I can't count the number of times I have been to Johnny's in Imperial, let alone Brawley over the years, but through all those times the food is always delicious and consistent. You never have to worry about an off day, because they have their formula down pat and can execute it the same every time. Maybe I'm biased being born and raised in Brawley and growing up on Johnny's, but their recipes are unique and their breakfast burritos are second to none. The past Saturday morning we drove through for a late breakfast and didn't have to wait very long, there were two cars ahead of us and from the time we pulled into line till we had our food was somewhere between 5 and 10 minutes. We ordered Egg and Bean, Egg Bean and Cheese, Egg Potato and Sausage, Egg Potato and Bacon, and Fries with Avocado Sauce. I always order my burritos "Hot" and end up putting more of the hot sauce on it as I go. I love their hot sauce, it's thinner than a salsa, but not as watery as tapatio; It's somewhere in between. All of our burritos were spot on, the eggs are always fluffy and the potatoes are always a nice mashed consistency that meshes well with all of the burritos. My go to is the Egg Potato and Sausage and the sausage links are always nice and juicy, never dried out or overcooked. My only beef is that they seem to be watering down the avocado sauce, which I have seen in the past in Brawley. Please Johnny's just don't do it! You have already increased the price per cup for avocado sauce, don't water it down on top of it. They sell it by the half gallon at Smart and Final for $10 or less. Johnny's sells it in 2 oz cups for $0.60. $0.60 x 32 2oz servings in a half gallon (64 oz) is $19.20. You're doubling your money already, please don't be greedy and try to stretch it even further. My only recommendation to my fellow yelpers if they keep it up is to just buy the avocado sauce yourself at Smart and Final and keep it in the fridge and take all your orders to go. read more

This place is great! Always kept clean. Although there is no comparing this place to the main store in Brawley, the food is still pretty good. I would recommend the Chunky Beef burrito. It's jam packed with meat, and tastes very good. To complete your meal I would recommend the fries with cheese and avocado sauce, if you want to get fancy ask for carne asada on top. The salsa there tastes great, made daily, and fresh. The tea tastes okay, I would recommend getting some horchata. Another great meal is the Chips Grande. Their food takes awhile to get and it's not bad but it's never really good. It's kind of like that place you stop at because you know no where else is open or it has a drive through and you don't want to get off. It's not because you ever want the food they serve. I came here on my lunch break and come in probably once or twice a month. My crane asada burrito this time was kind of disgusting I couldn't even finish it. Normally the carne asada is amazing at least at the brawley location it is. the meat was burnt and the whole burrito was cold... I like my food hot. Second I asked for guac and they barely even but a teaspoon. There was almost no guac... what is this? Also they need to hire people that actually listen. I got ripped off!! So I go to Johhnys for their famous taquitos and ask them to put the sauce and cheese on the side because I was going to eat them later and didn't want them soggy come lunch time. Come to find out they charged me an extra $1.36 plus tax just to put it on the side. The manager on duty said she will talk to her boss about it but that it's just the way it is in the pos computer. Like if the pos computer doesn't have the capabilities to make notes or she could have yelled to the back of the house to put it on the side. It think it's wrong to charge customers extra for a simple "on the side" request. Plus when you get it on the side isn't as much as is you were to get it regular. If you miss the taste of cafeteria food this is your place. Watery guacamole. Overly salted carne asada. Processed shredded cheese. Previously frozen french fries. Sound appetizing? No? Thought not. The people are friendly just their food. I dont get it the fascination. I have tried the following off their menu (all because I wanted to like this place...I really did): Fries w/cheese - fair Fries w/cheese and guacamole - horrible due to the watery "guacamole" that has no flavor. Pizza pocket - I ordered this because it is my friends favorite. What this is, is a deep fried pizza pocket. The same pizza pocket they had when I was in high school at the cafeteria.
