FREE beer on any day that ends in 'Y', ahh, now that I have your attention. Always a very helpful staff that listens to your needs and works with you tofind or offer a solution. Fun staff, great place to listen to or tell a fishing story. I have never left the store disappointed or never had an answer/solution to my problem. Best customer service in Texas. read more

Has been the store for me that has everything we could need from plumbing to hunting. God bless the owners and workers for being there for us through out the years. Still remember when they were on 1st street. Thank you all! read more

The finest hardware store. Twice they helped me out of binds, both with hard-to-find/obscure parts. For one of the parts, there was no chance a big box store would have the part (oil fill-tube gasket on an old Briggs-Stratton engine), and of course Johnny's had it first shot. Second one was just a particular common mower battery, and I actually checked two HDs and one Lowes (because Johnny's is a bit of drive for me), neither had it. Johnny's had a nice amperage one ready for sale. Obscure parts, tubing, tools, fishing, garden tools, hunting/shooting, flashlights, an amazing selection of superb U.S. made kitchen knives at affordable prices (I couldn't even find them online). Overall it's something of a relic like an old-time general store. It really ought to be a tourist destination. Great place. read more

Probably one of the best hardware stores. One of the few without so many robots, or computers doing the work instead of real people. Highly recommend. Hard to find parts will be found here. Lowe's or Home depot cannot compare. More expensive, but worth it. Need to keep these old school stores alive. read more

I'll be taking my business elsewhere. There's a Home Depot right across the street. Hopefully they'll treat a disabled Veteran a little better.

What don't you recommend about Johnny's True Value? If you are a veteran and want to get your fishing license or hunting DO NOT GO THERE UNLESS YOU GO IN UNIFORM ON because the lady with curly hair lady there does not accept VA Identification, Texas License that clearly say VETERAN on it or webpage that says veteran is 100% disabled because she won't believing you. I went there two days ago and said, Hello I am here to check on a fishing license hold in let me please show you my VA and Driver license! First thing that comes out of her damn mouth is "Do you have any money"! I told her even if it cost money I am not poor I will pay for it. I showed her all paperwork and she insisted that there is nothing on my license and guess she was blind or she has never seen a VA medical ID card and also said there is nothing on my healthy vet website where it clearly shows I am 100 % disabled. Some very nice lady in the back kept telling her several times it says it on the Driver License over and over but this ANTI VETERAN NAZI lady was racist against veterans and insisted that it didn't. So if you are a veteran PLEASE do NOT go to Johnnys true value for your fishing license or hunting license! If I can I would give them a zero! read more

not open, burned down earlier this year. doesn't appear to be reopening. such a sad event- prayers for the employees.
