My husband needed his suit altered pretty last minute. We took it to John's Professional Alterations hoping we could get it done in time. He was super nice and assured us he could have it done within a few days. When we came to pick it up, the suit fit perfectly! As always happens when you don't do the research, I paid (and paid some more) for going to John's. I took two pieces of expensive clothing in to have the waist taken in. John acted as though he didn't want to do the work, which should have been my first red flag. He made it clear that he didn't agree with what I was asking, even asking me, "You sure you want to take these in? they seem just fine to me". I was taken aback but needed them done so, against my better judgement went ahead and left them. He also seemed pretty pricey. When I picked up the clothes the skirt was slightly taken in but not nearly enough and was still nowhere near comfortable. The pants didn't even feel as though he had altered them at all. they were literally inches too big still. I took them back and told him that they had not been taken in as agreed upon and, again, he argued with me. He told me that they seemed fine to him and that my request seemed unreasonable. I immediately got on my phone and found another alterations shop where I was told that they were, indeed, still way too big and that my request was far from unreasonable. My takeaway was don't bother with John's. read more
