Chic restaurants allow for seating to look upon the cooking process. Don't be fooled. Originating from the joys of watching food vendors toil, fine dining establishments have soiled a pure art. Forget your twenty-course conveyor belt, this guy is the show to watch. People herald London cab drivers for their pinnacle mental fortitude in memorizing "The Knowledge." John, whatever young man you've fashioned who worked the night of June 6th has a fortress upstairs. Keeping tabs of sizzling meats and crisping buns is a craft that few champion. Speaking for the common man, we thank these veterans. After watching this beautiful dance of culinary creation, it was my time to order. Spurned along by the suggestions of a trio my rear, it had to be the hotdog ristet. Adorned with a medley of pickled and chopped goods and one small personal addition of hot sauce, it was a sight to behold. No environment can better host the enjoyment of John's than the station steps itself. Sat amidst the cigarette butts, I had a moment of youth. To be covered in sauce and without worry. Bad day or good day, end it here folks, as life itself awaits.

    Hell yeah.

This place was awesome. There's nothing complicated about it. Me and the missus tried three or four hotdogs at this place. We loved all of them. It's located along one side of the Copenhagen central train station, so it's got a good location. They are pretty cheap and very satisfying. We like all of them that we tried. And as odd as it may seem to my fellow Americans, yeah, the chocolate milk really does work with it. It has a nicer, richer, more chocolately flavor than a lot of stuff I'd personally had in the past. And the red-dyed hot dogs. Also fun to have. Well worth it. If ever I find myself in Copenhagen again, totally going there once a day. For sure.

Good news for those reading: John's Hotdog Deli now accepts credit/debit cards! I initially felt like I was betraying the states by ordering a hot dog in Denmark, but after one bite, I was pleasantly surprised--it was one delicious dog! John's Hotdog Deli offers a variety of sausage options, from the traditional boiled and red, grilled, thick to the more modern elongated and thin sausage. Our hot dog vendor / connoisseur was kind (and patient) enough to share a brief history of the hot dog to help us narrow our selections. I chose the modern frank with traditional toppings, and it definitely did not disappoint. I loved the chopped and dried onions with mustard combo: a crunchy texture with a hint of sweet and sour -- it tasted like how a hot dog should taste (sorry, America)!

Wow, just ate at Tight tonight, which may not even be worth reviewing, just another tourist trap. Me and my buddy were saying after that we could really go for a dog. Not something that you generally say after a good dinner. I was resigned to just not being satisfied. But lo and behold on my nice walk to my Copenhagen Marriott, I happened upon this hotdog stand. There was a lot of people in front of it, and the hotdogs looked awesome. Well, they only take cash. Grrr. That was not gonna stop me though I was on a mission. It wasn't that big of a mission though, because I had just seen a cash machine a block back. Fast forward to the hotdog stand. The chick there was super cool, great English, and recommended a hotdog for me. She said if I was hungry I should get the big dog but if I wasn't I should get the smaller one. I got the big dog. I forgot to take a picture of it before I took a bite, but you can still get the picture, LOL. If you're in Copenhagen, and near the train station and Tivoli, look for this stand on the street. Delicious, and so many varieties that I wished I was a competitive hotdog eater. (That was the Ristet polse, FYI)

Took a bite before I remembered to capture this gorgeous beauty, oops #priorities #dabest #srslylifechangingdoe

Who ever knew that besides making pastries, the Danes excel in making delectable hot dogs as well??!! A friend introduced Johns Hotdogs Deli to me when I visited Copenhagen and it was an instant love at first sight- it's hard to put it into words but everything in their hot dog works really well with each other from the sausage to the toppings (which you can choose) down to the mustard. It's a chain so you'll be able to find other stalls throughout the city as well, although this one is convienently located between Copenhagen Central Station and Tivoli Park. I used to dream about German bratwursts (also delicious) but now I'm finding myself dreaming about these good ol' Danish hot dogs as well...definitely a MUST TRY especially for all those from out of town!! (Seriously, don't leave Copenhagen/Denmark without trying this or you will seriously regret it...) TIP: They also sell a hot dog type that has an enclosed bun on one side (so kind of like a cone) with the sausage sticking out. Think it's a Danish thing so I would suggest to try it as well.

Always late at night the cart comes out to feed the drunk masses of Vesterbro, Tivoli, and folks going to/from the train station. Ive had bacon wrapped with the works and bacon wrapped fransk style which were both pretty tasty. Dealing with the drunks is sometimes a chore. Also not the completely cleanest place as you''d expect but still decently tasty

Great hot dogs right outside the train station - perfect for a snack. Great toppings, the relish is so fresh and crisp.

First let's call it by its rightful name: Polse ("pool-seh") translates to sausage, but what it really signifies here is hot dog. Copenhagen, like New York City, is a great street-dog town. Now, let's talk about the variety: bacon hot dog, veggie, Umami, pork, roasted hot dog Then, the toppings: chopped onions, fried onions, mustard, mayo, ketchup, cucumbers Where to find it? Metro stations, street, kiosks. My friends, do you want to see a happy tourist.. the one with a mustard ketchup mustache, dripping down the chin! This little kiosk serves the most delicious hot dogs and vegan is on the menu! The staff are sweet and personable. They take the hot dog business very seriously, as they should! "Hanegal refers to a Copenhagen-based food company specializing in organic products, and it is also the name of a specific organic hot dog stand (often associated with DØP) located at Købmagergade 52A, Rehlat. The bread is whole grain, from slowly raised dough and topped with linseeds. Hanegal sausages are a key ingredient in DØP's gourmet organic hot dogs, which are sold from stands near the Round Tower and Church of the Holy Ghost. During my vacation research, it said that these organic hotdogs in Copenhagen were not to be missed, so when I saw the little food truck outside of Torvehallerne, I was really excited. (Full disclosure: I don't really know what "organic hotdogs" means...) My friends and I got three to share: the original (klassisk dansk), red devil, and nordisk hotdog. They were all good, but I really enjoyed the red devil. Their pickled toppings were really good!! I would definitely recommend eating here. They're not that big though so I'd think of it more as a snack--go back inside Torvehallerne and get something extra from the other excellent good stalls if it's going to be your meal!

The place is a bit of a challenge to find if you're a tourist (like me) and if you're relying on your smart phone GPS, the gps tends to throw one a bit off where it really is. It's not a food truck, basically is a kiosk, small, does not have any tables but it's conveniently located within this plaza where other restaurants are located and there are tables with seats to sit there and eat. Price are like anything that's considered street food, not too bad, they do take credit cards and for all you Danish challenged people, the guy attending the places does speak English.
