They explained what documentation needed when I wanted to get a copy of a 'do not duplicate' key and thanks to a fax number listed on their website, made quick work of that by having my people send the paperwork and got my key copies within 15 minutes! This is the worst service I have ever received from anyone! It has been a month since my garage door lock broke, and they have been waiting for a screw (presumably). Right. Now, they tell me they will be over "sometime" in the afternoon. That's 6 hours, according to the time they open until close. Good thing I have everything I want to keep chained to the wall. A long over due review to a company tucked away in a cute little town in the Midwest state of Iowa. Never met John! But this is Small City TRUST at its best. Here is my story: my nephew lost his car key. Key needed NOW or car will be towed. John's Lock and Key will do the job. My nephew is a college student who did not have $200 on his person and since I was there he asked if I could help him. I call John's Lock. They say " kay! no problem we can do it." I say " can I give you a CC number?" They say "Nah! just wait until the job is complete" I say " But I'm leaving town and earliest I can give you a CC will be tomorrow or the next day..." They say "Sure! No problem just call us when you're settled and able to give me the payment info... In the mean time, don't worry about your nephew...We got it!!!" NOW ! Would not even give a 1 star. Worst customer service ever. Had an appointment at 12 pm. They called and tried to change it to 1pm. We said no because we were waiting on them. Then they called back and said someone couldn't be there till 3pm. I said no we already went through this...the girl said I was lying about someone calling to change the time from 12-1 to begin with. These guys went above and beyond when they handled my locks - reasonably priced and very good service

Needed my ignition lock cylinder replaced and a mechanic recommended I have a locksmith look at it. I came by John's with the part and they were able to get to it in a couple of days (it was end of day, and the following day was Sunday). They said it'd be around $150 if I remember right. They called me and informed me that they couldn't help me - the lock cylinder was actually fine, but the ignition switch is what was faulty, and that requires a mechanic. No charge because nothing was done to the car. Very professional response as I was waiting, and a thorough explanation as to what needed to be done and what didn't. Happy I found them, and I would use John's for all Lock and Key needs! read more

John's Lock & Key is a fantastic locksmith and I highly recommend visiting them if you need keys made, they do great work. I have had several keys made here, including some for my car. I even had some issues programming one of the car keys and they helped me solve the issue and get the final key programmed quickly. Had a cash drawer key cut there. $3 transaction. Apparently kind of a tricky cut. Had to go back a couple times for one reason or another with that key. They kept at it until we got it right.
