I went for two years. On my October visit I was charged $65 when my insurance should've covered 100%. I had an appointment today for my six month cleaning, for which I received a reminder text. I arrived and was told it was canceled by the office because the hygienist is still on maternity leave. No one called me and front desk admitted there were no notes indicating I had been called. I came in as a new patient for an initial appointment, I even showed up early after completing my initial paperwork online. Staff at the front desk couldn't figure out how to run a credit card for a sur-charge and spent 20+ minutes on the phone with another staff member at a different branch that ended up hanging up on them cause staff couldn't comprehend how to run a credit card?? Due to this I ended up sitting in the lobby for approximately 40 + minutes without a word from the front desk or dentist staff. I had the absolute best dental cleaning of my life with Carmen at Johnson Family Dental in Paso Robles. I have a mouth full of crowns, implants, and a bridge, so cleanings can be challenging--but Carmen was incredibly detailed and thorough, especially in all the tough-to-reach areas. She took her time and made sure everything was perfectly cleaned. I walked out feeling like my teeth were brand new. I went there three times the first visit I asked before I made the appointment I asked to be put under anesthesia because I am on a high dose of morphine and I could stop my morning pills if there is a problem they said no problem come in I got there and they said I would have to go to the hospital for that I left and then the office manager called me and she talked to me and I came back and had eight teeth removed then I asked for dentures in the meantime, since I had to wait three months or more for my implants but on the second visit, I went to see the doctor for the implants when I got there. It was the wrong doctor so I had to come back again but when I came back the third time I was asked to put a blanket over my urinary bag that I am aware of it so I always make sure it goes under my legs yes you can see it but I don't want to wear a blanket when it gets in the 80's here I have to wear it from being injured in the Army leaving me paralyzed after serving 14 years in the service I am glad I was not disfigured that would have offended the secretary to look at me the only thing I could say good about Johnson family dental is the office manager there is very nice read more

Office charged over insurance coverage even though insurance was covered. When asked and verified office manager said I insulted an assistant then said I would no longer be a patient. She then walked into her office closed. I guess if a billing discrepancy is verified by insurance companies it's insulting. They did return the overcharge. CHECK BILLING BY THIS OFFICE. read more

Horrible place! The worst customer service. They told me my insurance covered everything before I went in and even after the appointment. 2 months later they sent a bill saying insurance didn't cover a procedure they did. I should have been told that before they did it so I could have decided if I wanted it. The dentist I went to was terrible as well. He missed a cracked tooth which was causing me the pain that was my reason for coming in. The procedure they did had nothing to do with the pain in my tooth or the cracked tooth. read more

Be careful if you cancel or reschedule they will charge you $56 saying you have a final notice but the fact is we never got a notice at all ! instead we got a final notice in the mail. It's pretty sad that not even a phone call or an email or anything For a consultation, which is supposed to be free and they run it on your insurance but if you decide not to go back, they bill you a year later with a threatening letter stating final notice absolutely absurd! read more

I came in to this office yesterday and saw Dr. Marcus. Seriously he should not be practicing. I usually go to the SLO office and was scheduled in Paso as to not drive so far with nagging tooth pain. After he came in the exam area he asked why I was there etc after, I hope, viewing my x-ray I explained my tooth pain. This particular tooth is in bad shape and scheduled to be extracted. Then he said "and, and..." I answered I need something for pain and I can't take NSAIDS, (Ibuprofen) due to kidney disease. He says "a narcotic!" "Oh no I don't prescribe narcotics and the SLO office won't either!" I asked why and he said " I don't have a license for that." A total waste of time, money and a cost that will come out of my deductible. I cannot express my fury as I left that office. I have had kidney disease for many years and CANNOT take ibuprofen but trust me I would kill too. I left there with pain and today it is worse. I called the SLO office to follow up and again ask for pain medication and was denied as refused to even notify my dentist. I am baffled, I really am. I have extensive treatment plans and have done an entire work up for implants and denture replacement. How can a dental office responsible for my care deny me pain management?? Still baffled and in pain. I have a call in again so I hope there is SOMETHING they will do. read more

If you're looking for a dentist, stay clear of this office! Let me tell you my story....i was in need of serious dental care, my teeth had failed me and they needed to come out. Went in and had a plan. Sept 27th I have my right lower wisdom and 1 left bottom extracted, 2 crowns placed. I went home without any antibiotics or pain meds. A week later, I came in for a recheck and the stitches removed. Within about 10 hours, my throat had swelled so badly I couldn't swallow, urgent care 1st thing that next morning and got an antibiotic and 3 day steroid prescriptions. My mouth/jaw was so sore I couldn't open it! So this set me back about 3 weeks (3 weeks I wasn't able to eat and lived on protein drinks) Then came the day of impressions, Linda the assistant did them, she put the top in, took it out and I saw her touching it (a lot) then she put more if the impression stuff and put it back into my mouth?? Saw her and the dentist looking at it, she said "I know, I'll fix it" the fix was to pull that extra material off and send it to the lab. The partial bottom and full top plate were in, Nov 15 math I went in to have the top teeth extracted. After all that was done, the dentist (Willis) was very roughly putting them in and taking them out....when he was finished "adjusting" them to "fit" he had removed all the teeth on the bottom partial! So, now it's just a gum cover! And took a tooth off the top plate too. I tried wearing them! But they were just so ill fitting they were causing sores in my mouth. Went back the next week to have them adjusted, he ground them so much that they wouldn't stay in my mouth...and told me "no" when I asked to have the roof fixed (where Linda had pulled that excess material was giving me a sore on my roof of my mouth. And when I said I couldn't eat because they were hurting me...he gaslight me with, "I wasn't emotionally ready to hear what he was saying" he screwed up the plates and blamed me because I couldn't eat! At this point I was down 17lbs! The following week, I went back to complain and show everyone the "teeth" he made me.....Yessica the office manager got me right in for new impressions....this is now Monday before Thanksgiving, I told her I didn't want anything to do with Dr Willis again. The other dentist stayed with his assistant while she took the impressions, she said the office girls would give me a call for the ETA timeframe. Never heard from anyone, so Tuesday after Thanksgiving I had an existing appointment, called an hour before the appointment so I wouldn't waste my time....Liz took the call. She said they weren't in and would cancel my appointment. I asked for a timeframe....she said, they would call when they received them, I asked could she call the lab and find out, no! We went back and forth with rudeness getting worse and worse! I finally told Liz, I was done and would see an attorney. 10 weeks after starting this process, I am down 23lbs, my mouth is healing.....I haven't put the interim gum covers since the new impressions were done and still have no teeth! And no communications from that office. Yesterday, I went to a new place and started over! Dentures would never be successful because the bones were left not evened out. This is why the "teeth" had to be ground off! Today, i have a swollen face, very painful mouth and back on medications! So, I am asking that my my money and the $$$ my insurance paid be returned! read more

The receptionist didn't care to ask for my correct contact information or about the issue at all. I took my son because of the $79.00 for a year plan. Yet when I took him for his first tooth extraction, the dentist said he kept gagging and he would have to go to an oral surgeon which we cannot afford. This has never happened before with my son, he said the dentist didn't really try. The dentists name was Daniel Marcus and he sucks BIG time. Very overweight also. I had to find a dentist because I'm new to the area and had a broken tooth that had to been taken care of. As a cash patient I was very pleased to find that they have an inhouse dental discount plan, and it really helped to make my treatment more affordable. The front office staff and dental assistants were all very kind, friendly and helpful, and Dr. Eric Barrientos was wonderful. He listened to my concerns and needs, and was kind through my anxieties about dental work. My tooth was taken care of and I am beyond pleased with my experience. That's why I made the appointment and I even asked about it when booking the appointment but after I got there and waited 2 hours to see the dentist, after getting the exam and being pressured into having molds that cost $200 I found out that they don't even have a dental hygienist! Staff was friendly and even though the dentist seemed knowledgeable and knew what he was doing it was obvious he was there to sell sell sell and that was it. I won't be back. Scam alert! If you get the coupon in the mail they are just trying to get you into the office. $50 for exam, xrays and teeth whitening (a whitening kit in a box that they send home with you) . The girls in the office were nice & polite but it stopped there. i noticed that there wasn't another patient in the office but I still waited for 15 mins before the torturously long and painful xrays were taken ( I think I may have been her first real patient since dental school). Then another 15 or 20 mins passed before the dentist appeared. Dr Neale was cold to the point of being rude, "why are you here" he asked and he audibly sighed loudly when I told him I was using the coupon. Then after the exam he disappeared and another 15+ mins passed before his financial gal finally came in to give me the "real" costs to do the work that the Dr. said I needed as compared to the "discount cost" if I signed up today for $79 For their discount program. I paid my $50 and walked out knowing I would never see Dr Neale again if he was the only dentist left on earth. When I left there still were no other patients there. I think I know why. read more
