It had been nearly 4 years since I had been to the dentist, the previous visit was in introductory visit in SLO and nothing more than an examination, as they didn't have time to do a cleaning. Upon retirement I starting checking for local dentist. Nearly every place I called was not accepting patients. Thankfully Vineyard was willing to accommodate me based on my availability. Prior to arrival I had filled out all the required paperwork. I checked in at the reception desk upon arrival and took a seat until I was called. X-rays were the first business of the day, new dentist wanted to get a view of my mouth. Simple procedure. This was followed but a CT scan of my head to provide a 3D image, thought this was neat, but didn't get to see the finished image. It was in to wait for the dentist, Dr. Cheema. He introduced himself, as did each of the staff. Thought they were all nice people and provided me plenty of information regarding procedures and paperwork. There dentist looked around my mouth and prodded with his tools. Looked at the x-rays and gave me his assessment. Since my insurance covered it, I did sign up for the Invisalign, but prior to that I will be back for a few deep cleanings, which had to be explained to me and to pull one impacted molar, which I knew I had but never wanted to get it removes. All in all, a great visit, very relaxed. Thanks to the staff and the dentist. I look forward to returning. read more

The pros - they do primary and secondary billing. Unlike other orthos I spoke to there was no "pay ahead and let the insurance reimburse you". They **in theory** have a lot of availability. The cons - 3x Ive come to see the orthodontist for my invisalign treatment - and each time they end up sending me home after waiting 60+m without seeing the ortho. They have a big office, that never is bustling, so Im not sure what is the issue. If there was a waiting room full of people Id be more understanding. Avoid at all cost - any benefits to not having to do out of pocket up front was lost with cancelled visits, having to miss work etc. I am 8 months to invisalign and have no confidence its going to turn out correctly - I have only ever see the Dental hygienist, since the doctor is constantly running late and the appointments end up cancelled after waiting 45+min. Oh, and there is zero accountability or apologies. They have a 10 minute grace period (then your appointment is cancelled and they will charge you $50) that they WILL enforce, even when the dentist is running 45 minutes late. read more

Keep both hands on your wallet! Everyone there is super friendly and nice and the work done was excellent. The problem is I had to pay more than double what was agreed to!! Between my insurance and out of pocket a tooth extraction and implant cost over $5,500 We agreed my out of pocket for everything was to be $1,600 but in the end they changed it to $4,080. After complaining they reduced it to $3,580 which was still more than double. read more

Dr Cheema did my implants about ten years ago for around $60,000.00. They are now failing and will cost me another $60,000.00 to have replaced. Save yourself the extra expense and don't use this dentist for implants, go to an oral surgeon. I wish that I had done that. read more

About 3 or 4 years ago i came here to see about a new Dentist. After exams and waiting 2 hours in the office. I finally just paid on the spot for my x rays and left. Now all of a sudden they started messaging me that I'm over due for my cleaning. The dentists themselves seem to be knowledgeable and do good work, but this office is X-ray happy and don't follow basic sanitation rules. I'm immunocompromised so this is a very big deal for me. Every time I have been in I have been subjected to unneeded x-rays. The last time I was in the tech seemed to be high on meth (my guess) and took some TEN or more x-rays and didn't bother to put the shield on me. Careless, unneeded and unprofessional. Aside from oversaturation of x-rays, they often touch dirty surfaces with their gloves, don't change their gloves, and then touch sterilized equipment. Not good. I had one tooth drilled, filled, and capped, was supposed to do more, but this office is more hung up on making me come in for unnecessary cleanings, especially deep cleanings. Also not good, and can be expensive. They've contacted me several times for unnecessary cleanings, but not to finish the work thay my teeth really need, despite having canceled appointments on my two times. I am most certainly looking for a new dentist. If you're reading this, I'd advise you to look elsewhere, too. read more

I would give this place a 0/5 if possible. I went in and had X-rays taken here and was told I had 12 cavities, I believed them because I hadn't been to a dentist in over 10 years. I scheduled a cleaning and to have 3 of my cavities filled. The day I went in to have them filled and cleaned, they completely forgot about the cleaning and when I told them, I was corrected and told "it's not actually a cleaning, it's a polishing", after the dentist came back to "polish" my teeth, he spent about 5 minutes polishing them... they left such a sour taste in my mouth that I just never went back. Flash forward 8 months later, a family member recommended another dentist and after having X-rays done there, I was told I only had 1, and the 3 they filled were never cavities, just imperfections on my teeth. They also spent over 30 minutes cleaning my teeth. I believe what this new dentist was telling me because they listened to my concerns and they acknowledged them. Please don't waste your time and money coming here. I'm sure this review will end up getting deleted. read more

Since I was new to the area, I made an appointment because they accepted my dental coverage. At my visit they charged over and beyond for my x-rays. Then they say there is $100 fee for new patients. They didn't tell me that in the beginning It was a really cold environment, it was a huge place but kind of like a ghost town. I don't understand how they could get any business. Then, when I called to have my x-rays transferred to my old dentist. They said it takes a week and a $25 fee. Originally, I had my old dentist email my X-rays, they did it within five minutes and there was no charge. read more

I made an appointment with this office to get a consultation for new dentures. I was charged 100$ for a minute, yes literally ONE MINUTE, talking to the dentist from the door to the exam room, I have no idea what his name was. I said I need new dentures and would like to know my options. He said okay, told the receptionist to give me some brochures and print out the different options. Then he walked away. I got up went into another room where I waited for 20 minutes while the receptionist printed out two pages. She came in and read them to me. For normal dentures I was quoted 7800$! And for fixed dentures was 80k!!! If I paid cash it was 40k. I nearly choked! She said we have financing plans. Uh okay, And that was it!! For 100$! When I looked them up again I saw that they offer FREE consultations!!! I guess they have to pay for that ostentatious office somehow * I went to Dr McCall in SLO. I bought my dentures for 4k. And learned that the way that a dental surgeon shaved my jawbone, I would need a bone graft to even attempt an implant. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They have been very patient and accommodating. Very, very poor customer service. We scheduled back-to-back appts for our boys who attend school an hour away. We scheduled these appts a month ago. We had to ask for time off work and schedule the kids to get out of school early in order to make it for these appts. We got a call today (Monday, appts are on Friday) that they won't be able to honor our appt times because they didn't schedule staff correctly. The girl on the phone was so rude and clearly has no understanding or empathy when they're the ones that screwed up. If you want to work with professionals, AVOID THIS PLACE. Horrible business ethics!! I only chose this place for my son due to they could schedule him sooner than later. I rolled the dice on this practice. They had my insurance info for a few days prior to my sons appointment and could've informed me prior to appointment of the amount due first. I have Delta Dental and we all get a free cleaning yearly. As they were in my circle, I knew there should only be a $40 copay. My sons mom took him there and informed me that the copay was $102! They stated that they were a premier carrier! And they couldn't do a cleaning without an exam and X-rays. It's a cleaning!! Do it! They did the exam and stated they needed another $180 for a "deep cleaning" scrape the damn calculus off dammit. Then there's the exam estimate They wanted $6000 for Invisalign. But what concerns me is that for some reason, without any explanation, they wanted to perform a completely unnecessary and not asked for procedure. Cutting the skin underneath the tongue. It's been a long journey with my Invisalign treatment. It's taking longer than it should have. I started out with I think 14 packages. And thought I was done. Upon receiving my retainers, I was surprised to see that they are disposable and you have to re-order them when they don't fit tight anymore. I was unaware with that. I thought plan came with retainers at the end of your 14 packages. When starting my retainers for The first week I came down My tongue and mouth feeling I had burnt it with hot scalding tea. Came back to your office and they couldn't really figure out what it was. they said just keep wearing them. I went to my dentist. He gave me a mouthwash that I had to rinse with for two weeks and the symptoms went away. Then I noticed that two of teeth were still not straight. The office did another scan and I waited another month before receiving a new package of nine. i've been went through that 18 weeks. There's been so many packages. I can't remember. I got another set of five after this. Finally, I'm done and now I've been waiting for my retainers for a month and a half. I was very pleased at the beginning of this treat but it seems like I've been forgotten. The dentist seems to be. Too busy to look over my chart to move ahead to my retainers. Please do not go to Vineyard dental and orthodontist care. The front office seemed very nice so I was initially happy to bring my son to have a checkup and X-rays. I was told he had 3 cavities with a picture of the 3 teeth. Also on the paperwork was an estimate for orthodontic treatment. I told them up front we would not be doing the orthodontic at this point in time and they acknowledged this fact. I did not feel good about the appointment so went to Delta Dental and they said get your X-rays and go to another dentist. We did go to a new dentist who confirmed my son had zero cavities! I had asked Vineyard dental to send the X-rays but they sent the "wrong" ones(not even my sons since they were from 2021, we were there a month previous for our first visit). I had already paid for the transfer price of $25 but the new dentist did the X-rays for free. We also got billing to start orthodontics work despite telling them we did not want this service. Had to have all upper and lower teeth extracted and partials. 12k plus. The day they did extractions I left with what I thought where temporary partials, they where loose and not correct from day 1. Had to do a follow up visit were an assistant put what she said a temp. Filler. She said they would probably have to new ones made. No mention of more money. Still don't fit and pain from the partial 4 months later. I go in today to address this and I told I should do implants or snap in. 10k more. I'm a retired teacher and cannot afford this. So Dr. Cheema said they will need to be lined. ,$800.00 Additional to fix. You know if they did not fit from day 1 make it rite. What a shocker. Feel taken advantage of. If they tell customers it will be extra to repair or fix thier mistakes upfront it would be so bad. But then they would do less business. Wish I read these reviews before. I will start off by saying they said I needed a root canal and several cavities filled. My son (7 years old) had an appointment as well and they quoted $3k in cavities for him! I decided after seeing for the both of us about $5,000 in dental work I should get a second opinion. Thank God I did! I did not in fact need a root canal only a replacement crown on a tooth that had already had a root canal done. (This is the tooth they said needed another root canal?). Only one cavity not several. My son actually only need a couple cavities filled (on permanent teeth) the cavities they itemized on his teeth that are going to fall out did not pose a risk of infection. I saved myself $3,000 by getting a second opinion. Also did not like the open plan where someone is sitting right next to you! read more

I wish I could leave a zero-star. I got a weird feeling as I was walking into this practice, but I thought maybe I'm just in a mood. I was asked to sit down, then come.up to the desk multiple times to sign a bunch of papers and then made to wait for 15 minutes be called back. Mind you I'm pregnant so being called up to the desk multiple times and then told to sit down in the very uncomfortable couches is frustrating and tiresome. Finally I was called back to an exam room where dome strange person didn't introduce themselves sat me down and asked what problems I've been having lately. I said none, I just want to be fitted for some retainers like I said on the phone when I made my appointment. They said oh... And walked away. I sat there for over 45 minutes watching people walk by and not even acknowledge me. After an hour I got up and left. During the time I sat there and waited for someone to come and see me I started reading reviews on this place. That weird feeling that I had gotten in my stomach when I first walked in got worse and worse and worse. DO NOT go to this practice. I would recommend driving to San Luis Obispo or Los Osos before going into this place. If nothing else, read the reviews in their entirety before you go in for an appointment. I've never been to a business that got 1.5 out of 5 Stars, that's pathetic. I should have done my due diligence before going in for an appointment, or even before calling. I think I was just excited to get in so quickly and hopefully get started on retainers to keep my teeth straight since I've had braces off for about 10 years now. I learned my lesson!!! This place will scam you for your money!!!!! Went there for a emergency and I paid $1900. They said they fixed it, three months later I had a tooth ache it was the same tooth they "fixed" went in they took X-rays and they said I need a root canal and I had to pay $1200 because they didn't catch it in time. I feel dumb for admitting this but they also talked me into 5 other root canals and a deep clean. I asked them to tell me how much work I need done and with out X-rays just looking in my mouth he told me $7500 worth of work. This was not a good experience for my teenage son. If you're considering Invisalign do not add the highly promoted Propel. It is a scam and very painful. They do not explain to you the trauma that you're going to experience. They never said a word about the approximate 16 shots and then after the numbing shots they use a tool in between each tooth in the gum line that basically drills a hole and disrupts the fibers. Then the doctor forgot to approve my sons work order. It took 4 months to receive the first set. Overall very poor experience and I would never recommend this company or Propel. My younger son just finished with Smile Direct which is similar to Invisalign. It was it an awesome experience and we did not have to go to a dentist. Less expensive. His teeth turned out beautifully and it took less time than my older son. If I had to do it over again I would never of walked in the doors of Vineyard Dental. read more

my son is getting Invisalign from here, poor service every time I come here I get pissed off. I am always on time for our appointments, usually 10 minutes early because growing up I was told being on time is being late, so with that said, a 1 hour waiting time for me is unacceptable. On top of that, they have people come in 20-30 minutes after me and get helped before me which is just wrong. This is the worst Dental experience I've ever had. I'm addition to being extremely expensive, they have the gall to cancel your appointment and charge you $35 dollars fee if your late, but then will make you wait an hour and a half to be seen by the dentist even when your appointment was the first one in the morning at 9am. My last appointment I spent the entire day there while the only dentist I've ever seen working in this huge building there shuffles between myself and several other patients, working on me intermittantly, then leaving me to sit in the chair waiting for long stretches of time. Additionally, one of the staff has been very rude to me every time I come for a cleaning or work. Today they sent me home to get a crown they had put in that fell out that I had forgotten; when the dentist FINALLY came to check me out, he glanced in my mouth for about 5 seconds then said they couldn't re-use it, essentially wasting my time and gas to get something he could have told me I didn't need to go get if only he hadn't made me wait for an hour and fifteen minutes first. I'm done with this place. The absolute disregard for the value of YOUR time can not be overstated- they don't give af about your valuable time AT ALL and they make damn sure you know it by their actions. This experience today brought back another recent experience I had with Vineyard dental- the last time I went in I was in severe pain from some dental they had done on me but they absolutely refused to call in anything other than over the counter pain meds because they said the dentist wouldn't return for a couple of weeks and they apparently would not call him directly to resolve the order which they said only he could do. I ended up getting an order for pain meds from my regular doctor in addition to a slip for a couple of days of missed work due to the pain that VD caused but also refused to give me a note for work. If you read the other critiques here, you will see a common theme- this place is kind of shady and really doesn't care about its customers. Did I mention they are extremely expensive? I've had so many x-rays and work for problems that I didn't think I needed, I truly believe this place is scamming ppl. Avoid this place or you will regret it. BUYER BEEARE!!! read more
