Today my daughter had dental surgery to have her wisdom teeth removed. Everything was fine until…read morethey told me she was done and asked me to move my car to the front to help her get in. She came out crying, and the staff said some people get emotional after anesthesia, which I understood. Once she was in the car, I asked if she would be getting any pain meds. The staff member said it should have been sent to the pharmacy and went inside to check while I buckled my daughter in. She came back and told me which pharmacy it was sent to. But no one had given me any pre-op instructions--no sheet, no explanation, nothing. They just handed me gauze, an ice pack, and a syringe. I ran back inside and asked the girl at the front desk if there were any instructions, and she said there wasn't anything. I didn't argue because my daughter was still under anesthesia and sitting in the car--I didn't want to risk her getting out or wandering into the street. I thought they'd at least go over the medications or instructions before we left, but nothing. Later, I called the office to ask about the post-op instructions, and of course no one answered. The answering service tried calling them too, and still no one picked up. So I took my daughter home, got her settled, and then had to drive 30 minutes back to the office just to ask for the instructions in person. When I got there, the girl at the front desk was ready to hand me a sheet of instructions like it was no big deal. I told her this was very inconvenient--I had to drive home, then back to the office, and then back home again, just because they didn't hand me one simple sheet of paper before we left. They made it very clear that I had to stay in the office the whole time, and I did. So why couldn't they do their job and make sure I had everything I needed before walking out the door? While I was explaining all this, the office manager, Whitney Mitchell, interrupted me to say she apologized. But I was already upset because maybe if she hadn't had her child in the office distracting her and keeping her from doing her job, this wouldn't have happened. Maybe if she had told the other girl to give me the instructions before I left, I wouldn't have had to drive all over Killeen trying to get basic information about my daughter's care. This was a stressful and frustrating experience that could have been completely avoided with a little communication and professionalism. Because of Whitney Mitchell's lack of professionalism and poor handling of this situation, our family will not be returning. Every time we've moved, we've made sure to stay with this dental company. But after today, we won't be doing that anymore. We also will not be referring this office location to other military families, which we've done in the past. This was an unnecessary and stressful experience that could have been easily avoided.

I went to Stonehaven Dental for what was supposed to be a regular checkup, cleaning, and X-rays…read more After the cleaning, the dentist came in and told me that eight of my crowns needed to be replaced, even though the crowns were only about two years old. They started by removing four crowns on my right side and placing temporary caps. I was told I might have pain in my upper right molar and may need a root canal, but instead my lower right molar caused severe pain. The pain was so bad I could not sleep for about a week. When I contacted the office, I was prescribed antibiotics and pain medication, but I did not feel comfortable returning. I later went to another dental office because the pain was unbearable. That office performed a root canal and helped address the issue. I also asked that office whether the crowns on my left side needed to be replaced, and they told me no. I then sought another opinion from a third dental office, and they also said the crowns on my left side did not need to be replaced. Based on my experience, I am very concerned about the recommendation to replace all eight crowns and the amount of pain I experienced after the work began. I have never experienced that level of dental pain before. I would strongly recommend that anyone receiving a major treatment plan here get a second opinion before moving forward, especially for extensive crown replacement.

The receptionist and the check out clerk were kind, friendly and informative. They contacted and had everything ready for my insurance claim. But the most kiddos goes to Brittany, the hygienist. This was the most thorough x-rays, exam and cleaning I've had in a long time. She was so sweet. She listened to this old woman prattle on. I did stop while the cleaning was being done. My teeth haven't felt cleaner in a long time. I must confess it's been four years since seeing a dental hygienist and I've had some good ones, but Brittany is up there with the best. I highly recommend this clean, well taken care of office and the staff!
